Need help before I curbstomp it.

It kept saying no ink, even though it had ink in it, so i thought it's because i had the asian brand in there
so i got new ink again, and it still said no ink

so now it finally recognized that there is ink, but when i print, it's printing blanks
it goes through the process normally it just doesn't put any ink on the paper

what's the deal?

It's an Epson CX4400 i think

the inks are brand new, i tried the asian inks first but those didn't take so i got the epson inks, and now it recognizes that there is ink but just won't put the damn ink on the damn paper!

If it's barely used the heads got clogged.

Take out the cartridge, grab some q-tips and rubbing alcohol, generously apply alcohol to the area where the ink goes into the head.

If you can remove the head, and you can but will have to figure out how, you can try to clean the nozzels where the ink comes out as well.

You may have to replace the whole head. I have a cannon, the print head runs about $40.

I've never had much luck with Epsons, it's usually cheaper to just replace the printer (although I see yours is an all in one.) I hate printers most of the time anyway they never stop for any simple logical reason. Just one day they work, next day, totally ****ed.

I once had an Epson C86 that clogged similar to what you describe. I tried running cleaning cycles which of course wastes ink. I bought some cleaning kit which did absolutely nothing for it, at this point I would need to buy 2 more ink cartridges because 2 got used up in this cleaning nonsense, and I never got it working anyway. I concluded that it would cost me more to buy a set of ink cartridges than to buy the C88, the successor to the printer I had.

However, I decided I no longer cared for Epson printers, seeing as this one was about a year old and already dead, so I threw the C86 in the trash. I still have an HP G55 that is about 9 years old and still works. Thankfully, the Epson came free with my computer so it wasn't a huge loss (except for the mounds of cash spent on the ink cartridges.)

I later learned that Epson printers should always be turned off when not in use because the ink heads are prone to drying out especially when infrequently used, as I rarely printed from it since the ink was so friggin expensive. I have always left my other printer on and it goes into sleep mode so I assumed the Epson would be cool with that, but apparently not. On the other hand it did make nice prints during its all too brief lifespan.

I really like my Epson.

It costs a bit to get new ink ( around $100) but it uses 6 cartridges, so it never needs all 6 at the same time., and the factory ones lasted around 6 months. (Haven't used an entire full cartridge yet, so I have no idea how long they last... but I do a fair ammount of printing)

It's also the only printer I've managed to find locally that lets me print on discs. ( Hate those stupid sticker lables)

I used to be a fan of the Lexmark all in 1... but it's not Vista compatible, and I had 2 die within a month of buying them.

You should never use generic inks on an Epson. It's like putting Diesel into your Unleaded fueled car. Sure it'll run, but for how long? When you buy Epson you buy quality prints. You can't replace the print head on an Epson printer because it's not cheap technology like Canon or HP. Epson printers have permanent print heads. A printer needs to be maintained. Print once a week and your printer should be fine.

Here are some other helpful tips.

- Don't turn off your printer ever. When you turn off your printer it goes into a cycle that covers up the print heads (kind of like saran wrap) and when you turn on your printer it has to clear itself the only way it can, shooting ink. You'll waste more money on ink doing this than printing once a week.

- Since you have a DuraBrite printer, you'll need to shake the ink cartridges for about 3-5 mins before installing them (it's in your manual).

- When you purchase ink make sure to check expiration dates.

Oh and I forgot to tell you. Since you used generic inks, your printer is now useless.
