A my younger brother's best friend and friend of mine as well died this morning from prescription overdose. This is the 3rd kid (18-22 range) in 2 years that's died from a small neighborhood of kids I grew up with. I imagine this is old news in cities, but our town is just under 5 thousand people - home of the original ben and jerrys factory, its small town at its smallest.
I was joking with the kid 2 weeks ago in passing at a movie theatre as his eyes were all red and I thought young kid maybe smokin a little. I told him if my brother, who is in jail for heroin charges - had stayed with him instead of the crowd he fell in with - he might be at the movies too. I never thought so many of my brothers friends, little kids I watched grow up would die this way...not in such a small town.
We used to call him Beercan - he was silly and loyal and I don't know why, but the redneck in us always saw our parents with beer cans and it made them silly, so we decided he was like our beercan, made us all feel silly and always around when we wanted him. I'm starting to run my thoughts a little.
I mostly just needed to type out my feelings, and this board for all its problems is a pretty safe place for the near decade i've been trolling around.
