hahaha one team nobody even thought about as a possible landing spot. Makes sense though with Lynch and his legal troubles they gonna have to make up the offense they lose somehow.
Guess Rosenhaus wasn't lying about having a deal done by the end of next week or sooner.
Wow. Sorry Buffalo. Poor Trent.

Poor Lee Evans is more like it because he just went from being the main man in Buffalo to the # 2 WR that will see his touches cut at least in half.

HAHAHA!!! TO is going to explode when Trent Edwards doesnt get him the ball enough. If TO couldnt get along with Garcia, McNabb and Romo who are far better QB's then he is going to have a meltdown with Edwards. As a Pats fan I love this!

As long as it's a one year deal they'll be fine. He is usually on his best behavior his first year with a team anyway.

Agents are supposed to lie. Owens agent apparently lied, and Warner's agent lied... What's the big deal? :)

Why does his agent automatically have to be lying is it not possible that several teams were involved without a multi year contract offer ? T.O. is like the Manny of the NFL nobody was going to give him a big multi year offer because of his actions in the locker room and off the field.

No offensive line, no passing game, and 50 holes on defense and we pick up a disruptive WR. This signing makes plenty of sense.
There are games where Lee Evans is lucky to get even a single look and we are picking up a WR who won't be happy with anything fewer than 10? I could care less about character issues, I'd sign Michael Vick as long as we made sure his house had an electric fence. I'd sign David Boston as long as Trent Edwards took his piss tests. But TO is someone who NEEDS the ball and we've proved that getting the ball to our #1 WR is something that on occassion we simply can't do. I can't wait to see TO's reaction on the sidelines when Randy Moss has 4 TD's through 2 quarters on us and he hasn't seen a single ball thrown his way yet. I'm sure both sides thought of that scenario before putting this deal in writing.
The only good thing about signing TO is I feel like when things don't go his way (and believe me they won't) he'll tear that organization up from the bottom up and with any luck he might just take D-ck Jauron with him.
Chugga
03-07-2009, 04:49 PM
As for the Bills next SP being TO that would be such a cop out and I really hope it doesn't happen. In the last few years we've had legends like Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and the alltime sack leader Bruce Smith make it into the hall of fame and I swear if contract negotiations break down with one of them because Mcfarlane just found his Bills player quota for the next 5 years in a player who will be in and out of here within 12 months I'm going to be pissed.

They have sold well but they would have to release it for this year in order to capitalize since it's only a 1 year deal. I think the only way he gets a figure is if they put it as a surprise figure.

Of course not. But if there really were multiple teams interested, why would Rosenhaus have his client sign so quickly? After all, there's no hurry. Surely it would be better to spend some time playing the various teams off against one another in hopes of getting a better deal?
The only way signing this quickly makes sense is if it's the only deal out there.

Might as well sign Michael Vick to throw to him.
That would be the instant recipe for a VERY Epic TO meltdown. Give him a RB taking snaps.
He'd be working out in his driveway by game 1......of the preseason.

Being a Bears fan I can tell you Juron isnt the coach for TO. Juron cant even control his wife let alone TO. Juron is not confrontational at all. TO will walk all over him.

Trent Edwards is both the luckiest and unluckiest QB in the NFL right now. It will make the AFC East the most interesting division to follow. You got TO and Moss facing each other two weeks this year, you got TO facing Parcells twice, well he has nothing with the Jets....yet. Add Tom Brady coming back from surgery, Lynch's legal trouble, The new look Jets, What Miami will look like after a bounce back year and a pretty good free agency period. Lots of blog/paper material in this division for 2009.

This will end in a disaster yet again, but at least Chugga's team gets some publicity when it all falls down.
Question:
You guys dont think that T.O. knows this is his last chance. My guess is that there was one offer (Bills) he had to take it. This means he knows that no other team wants him. So, he might be good for that one season (as bad as it may be) so in the off season he can get more offers? And by not acting up he will show that he is the "new T.O.".
sabressixx
03-08-2009, 01:42 PM
i think there were probably more offers.i think the Bills finally took the chance on getting a big name guy and were not going to let him leave without being signed. Its probably the 3rd biggest move in team history maybe 2nd

This is a great gamble for a middling Bills franchise to take, one-year deal, a focused Owens who wants to continue his NFL career past 2009 and should be on his best behaviour (or close to it).
I really don't see a downside here for the Bills, if this move works and TO ignites their offense, they can contend for a playoff spot in the AFC East (especially with the Jets and Dolphins sure to regress) and if it doesn't and the Bills remain a 6-8 win team then it was probably still worth the gamble just to get Evans and Edwards some help because their offense has been a wreck over the last few seasons.
All in all, I'm really intrigued to see how this plays out because it's the only type of situation TO can go into (middling team looking to take the next step) without being blamed for all the team's problems if they struggle.

Jersey for sale on the Bills website already, but no confirmed jersey # yet. I wonder how much he will have to pony up to James Hardy, whose career most likely just got set back a year, for the #81?

This sounds exactly like the talk we heard before he signed with Dallas. Come to think of it, we heard the same stuff before he wound up in Philly, too.
