Holy ****. Hammill with a ko via head kick.

That was crazy. Munoz was getting completely owned up to that point, too, so it was just a matter of time anyway.

Munoz looked like a dwarf compared to Hammill. I'm sure he'll be at 185 next time we see him.

Dude better learn some standup. A lead right hook and nothing else isn't going to get him too far. I'm sure his wrestling will keep him competitive against 90% of the guys he fights, though.

I understand that Matt Hamill is a strong guy and a great wrestler, but I don't understand how he wins so frequently with punches that move in slow motion.
That was a beautiful kick though.

He is a contender, though. That's what the sad thing is. He hasn't done a lot, but with this thinof a HW division, one impressive win is all it takes to get into contention.

Yeah, I know. I just didn't see the big deal in him before that knockout. Even now, he's not going to get very far if he doesn't step his defense up.
UFCFan
03-07-2009, 09:32 PM
I don't see what the big deal about people liking Carwin is. I mean, the only reason people are jocking him is because he is someone new and different. Gonzaga has already had his shot and lost. Plus, Carwin at least ends fights. Is he overrated? Sure. Anyone who fights in the UFC and strings a couple of wins together is overrated-until they lose. Big deal. Carwin really isn't some "big deal", either, but then again, no HW in the UFC right now is. Lesnar may rule the division for a while, but we're all going to see what happens when someone finally cracks him in his big ass gourd soon enough.
OCELOT

It would be nice if they let Kongo crack his skull open, but the HW title is already screwed as it is. We don't need a three-way interim champion.
EDIT: That was an awkward post fight interview.
kobayashi93
03-07-2009, 09:40 PM
Meh. I really like how the UFC is bringing up Carwin and Velazquez. Steady increases in competition. Unlike Kongo who seems to take on weaker competition as his career goes on.

I agree, although even though there was not a KO it was nice to see the 2 of them go the full 3 rounds.
Very few takedowns/ground game.

In what way, Ed? I've seen better fights, sure, but I think it's hard to complain about what we just saw. Look back at the last 20 main events or so and tell me it was really a letdown. The first round was a tad boring, but I thought there was some good action in rounds 2 and 3.

Evans will beat Rampage because he is more of a complete fighter and he is improving with every fight he gets. I don't think he will knockout Rampage but he will dominate him IMO.
UFCFan
03-07-2009, 10:25 PM
I can see Evans winning, too, but hopefully it's a good fight either way. Rampage looked a little slow or something tonight. I'm not sure how much of that has to do with how awkward Jardine is, though.

That was Jardine. He was outside of the center of the ring, he would run in throw a punch then run out.
