I really doubt it, but seriously, is that how much this thing goes for now?

Only in that seller's most incredibly vivid fantasy world.
I wouldn't pay more than $20 for it.

Since it's been re-released in two different colors, how CAN it be rare?

Actually I remember a year or so ago loose ones were fetching $60-80, so this doesn't seem that far off. I still kick myself for not buying them by the hoards when they were on the shelves. I remember when TRU had those dumb small angled aisles, the one by my old house had like 20 glogging the shelves and a little later when they started going for money that Xmas I saw like 5 or so at an out of the way Kmart, but wasn't able to get to it till after Xmas and they were long gone.
While with it being "released" somewhat.. and with the economy, I don't see it selling for that much, but still, I could see where it could sell for close to it.
If you really wanna see it's current value(or close to it), watch this one:

I remember seeing lots of them in the stores. If someone buys it for that price, they're an idiot.

I wish I'd bought a second one at the time...but I never got around to it. :( I still have one though, and I'm glad for that. That's a ridiculous price though...$30 at most, tops, is what it should be going for, heh.

It was in a multipack with a different head and the shoulders were glued down, it was in a 2-pack and it was just recently released with a light pole but instead of blue and red he was black and red... so yeah, it was brought out again, while not the same exact as the original, if one wanted, they could get one similar to the original one.
So if you want to get intraweb-technical.. it's been re-re-released... :p

The original was popular and therefore somewhat difficult to find.

Oh yea, I have that one with the street light. I asked other boardies if it was the same sculpt as the original McFarlane one, but they said no.
Hm.
Looks the same to me, but with a different paint job.
It's currently my favorite spidey in this scale.
Though if I had the McFarlane one, I'd say differently.

The Hasbro rerelease is the same sculpt. The Fearsome Foes one has a different head.

Not rare just higher in demand. But $100 is a ludicrous price
