View Full Version : Petition to bring back 20 Questions

The Goffster early in his career would do a weekly 20 Questions which turned into a monthly 20 Questions and then it went to a semi-annual 20 Questions. He may be gone, but a lot of us are still here.

Now that we're getting infrequent news updates, I was thinking, why not bring back a bi-weekly or monthly 20 Questions thread where we can submit questions a week ahead of time and then get some answers.

Anyone else want something similar?

I want more interaction from the TMP staff so this is a good idea.

Don't tell Joe, but I'd be willing to settle for 7 1/2 Questions

I'm all for interaction with the staff... but ( And I honestly mean no offence)... what's there to really talk about anymore?

Asking what halo fig / vehicle will be made in a future line? answer would be "wait and see", or some other non-commitment answer. (Since they won't say that in 3 series from now they're making such & such, because plans change...)

Asking will you ever make _____ again? answer will be "No plans at this time".

They won't / can't say what lisenced products they're going after....

But I do like the 20 questions format better than the Toddcast format.

No sir. You choose that option by leaving instead of "voting" ;)

Took the words right out of my mouth. I'd like a little more interaction, but I don't particularly want to hear "no plans for Spawn figures at this time" twenty times in a row.

There's plenty to talk about. Non-commital answers and fluff is better than nothing and to be honest the answers will only be as good as the questions. This would at least provide a regular for interaction that's been missing since the daily update has become an infrequent update.

I've got plenty of questions to ask and I think others do as well.

If you're going to assume what the answer is before you ask, there's no point in asking.

I mean, is it really that difficult to come up with a good mix of some original and bust out some old questions? Does it even have to be about the figures all the time?

I can think of a lot of questions I'd like to ask about old stuff along with new stuff.

Older stuff:
Character or license choices for older lines? Broken molds that changed lineups? Why in the name of God did you do Youngblood figures? In retrospect, consider that you were doing video game and anime licenses a few years before they really started to take off... why did you stop? If you could have a license back, what would you have done differently?

Newer stuff:
Licensed comics to go with licensed figures? What's been going on with Todd's involvement with 38 Studios? How did things work out with the designs for those Duece lines and what happened to the Duece the Destroyer deal? How much of an impact are video games having on action figure sales? What's up with the Red EOD and the new joint system?

Does TMP even do enough anymore to even warrant a full 10 questions, aside from crap about what ****ing color HALO **** they're putting out and the sports bull****?

When Todd starts making Spawn 6" action figures again, then maybe a 20 Questions thread every month might be worth it.

Yeah, they probably won't because they know all the boardies are just gonna ***** about spawn.

even if Spawn came back do you really think the whining would end?

^^Now that's a good question.

I'm with everyone else, there aren't any lines to ask questions about at this point.

No. No matter what anyone does, people will always find a way to be displeased. TMP could invent an action figure that was not only the most beautiful example of this particular field of interest, but was also fully articulated, voice activated, beautifully sculpted, secreted nirvana in an aerosol form and made you experience 24 hour orgasms when a button was pressed on the base, solved world hunger and somehow spat gold coins whenever played with and someone would still find a way to be pissed off about it.

I can't say I'm a fan of nirvana in aerosol form sir. Fail.

Of course not. I remember when things were good, and all of us were still *****ing, including me.

That's why we're here. :p

So Mike S., what about a 20 Questions thread every month?

moviemaniacks
04-07-2009, 01:52 PM
yeah, I'm guessing nobody on the staff wants to field questions like this:

- Guitar Hero sucks! Why don't you guys cancel it!!
- Halo Odd Pods suck! What were you thinking?
- Where are the spawn figures?
- Where are the fantasy figures!?

I'd like for that format to return, it would give us some answers as Joe has probably given up on trying to bring back the ToddCast in some form as he said he'd do a year or so ago.

I'm for it.

Part of the reason for the mod to collect all of the questions & filter them down to 20, is to remove the duplicates, and ridiculous ones. Even though times are tough, ignoring and alienating the fans is never a good thing.

Todd was supposed to come to the toy board to do a Q&A, which would be better than a 20 questions since Todd has a better idea of what info he can share so we won't just get company responses.

I'd rather talk to the brand managers to be honest. Todd may have the general scope down, but if anyone knows the nuts and bolts of the particular licenses or products, it would be them.

Don't get me wrong, getting Todd to finally address the Toy Forum after the ultra-long time between visits would be nice too.

Sad but true. I don't care about sports or Haloz questions, and any Spawn, horror, or good license, will be replied to as "not at this time". Nor do I care about any mythical projects like movies or animated series, which are just pipe dreams.

Todd said in a video interview that the rights to the animated series revert back to him in 2010. He's still making up his mind what to do with the movie. So you're looking at another 2-3 years before anything would happen on either front.
Like you said....pipe dream. Who knows what will happen to TMP in that time frame?
