At least he went out on top with the Phils as World Champs.
This makes last years World Championship that much more meaningful.
A part of Phillies baseball died today. It'll never be the same...

if it happened earlier they would but since it was so close to gametime I don't think they could of. Also when Richie died the Phils were playing the Muts and that game was played.
BET THE HOUSE ON THE PHILS TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad day for Phillies phans everywhere. I recall that voice back to my earliest days as a boy watching baseball with my Dad... he will be missed :(
He was in the same fraternity as me -- different schools, same fraternity. I remember him listed as one the famous alumni while I was pledging (Lou Gehrig too!). As a college baseball player, I always thought that was pretty cool.
Rest in peace Harry. You will be missed...

Have they decided this year's wall of fame member yet? Because if not, I think we all know who it will be...
I just have no idea how I'm going to watch another Phils broadcast without that voice...

We all know it will be hard but we have to move on. When Whitey died it was hard to watch also but think about how Harry would feel if you stop watching just because he no longer is around. I am going to be listening to Scott and LA today on the radio instead of the TV broadcast.

RIP Mr. Kalas!!!
I didn't get to hear many Phillies broadcasts, but from what I've heard, he was one of those GREAT voices of the game.

I know.
It's still too soon though. I'm guessing Tom McCarthy is now the head call guy? I felt like they were grooming him over the past couple years.

Next time your found, with your chin on the ground
There a lot to be learned, so look around
Just what makes that little old ant
Think hell move that rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant, cant
Move a rubber tree plant
But hes got high hopes, hes got high hopes
Hes got high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time your gettin low
stead of lettin go
Just remember that ant
Oops there goes another rubber tree plant
When troubles call, and your backs to the wall
There a lot to be learned, that wall could fall
Once there was a silly old ram
Thought hed punch a hole in a dam
No one could make that ram, scram
He kept buttin that dam
cause he had high hopes, he had high hopes
He had high apple pie, in the sky hopes
So any time your feelin bad
stead of feelin sad
Just remember that ram
Oops there goes a billion kilowatt dam
All problems just a toy balloon
Theyll be bursted soon
Theyre just bound to go pop
Oops there goes another problem kerplop
My first memory of sports as a kid were listening to Harry and Whitey Ashburn on a transistor on my front porch down the shore. I had tears in my eyes when I heard the news, I am glad he got to see them win it last year now he and Whitey are a team again. We have been very fortunate in Philly to have some of the best ever broadcasters with Harry, Whitey, Gene Hart (God Rest their souls) and Meryl Reese.

RIP Harry, you will truly be missed by everyone.
Harry's voice was one of a kind. Every time a HR is hit, I hear Harry saying "A lonnnnnnng fly baaaaaall, watch this baby, waaaaaaaaaay OUTTA HERE, home run _______ (fill in player)." I'm glad he finally got a chance to call the final out of a Phillies' World Series championship, last year.
As for his heir apparent, I see that being Tom McCarthy, as someone mentioned. McCarthy has such a smooth voice, so he makes the most sense. Wouldn't mind seeing Scott Graham come back though.

I am watching the tribute on comcast, and i feel like i am going to cry like a baby. I feel like i lost a member of my family. I found out at work today, and I felt like someone punched me in the stomach. I cried on the way home from work listening to the game on the radio. God bless you Harry, you made listening to baseball a great joy in my life.
Harry's son Todd does games for the Rays, I wonder if the Phils are going to reach out for him.
