That is what I thought as I read the thread title. It would be a 1pm eastern time start.

The Super Bowl should always be played in the U.S.

As long as it's a good game, with good commercials and a good Halftime show...who gives a crap where they play the game.

Um, how about the fans of the teams involved? It's bad enough right now, that if you want to go see your team, you'd better be willing to pony up $1k per seat . Under this plan, not only do you have to fork over the cash for a seat, but now add in a couple thousand for airfare and lodging, and real fans are priced out even more than they have been for several years now. 99% of the people in Europe, don't even know what American football is.

Yeah brilliant idea. Take the game away from their most passionate fan base and showcase it to an audience that couldn't care less. One of the worst ideas ever!

goodell sucks

Goodell now denying that any such talks ever took place.

One thing the NFL is not doing is considering a Super Bowl in London. Goodell dismissed a report that "substantive talks" with officials in London were held.

"We have never looked at London or Mexico City as a site," he said.

Exactly why it's not a good idea for Yahoo to run a blogger's story on the front page and try to pass it off as news...

Incredibly moronic. I Am still pissed the Bucs are playing a regular season game over there.

Why? Were you going to go to that game if it was in Tampa?

Yeah, I didn't like the Chargers playing there last year either. The only good thing for us, was that it wasn't our home game. I felt bad for the Saints and their fans for being shorted a game.
It goes beyond just the game on the field too. Many people depend on the extra income from the part-time work they get from stadium jobs. If I were in the city that got skipped because they took the SB overseas, I'd be raising hell too. The weeks leading up to the game and the whole NFL experience bring $ millions to a city. There are few, if any, cities in America that couldn't benefit from that type of economic boost.

Yeah, let's consider sending a cash cow for a city and business overseas during a recession.

Beyond stupid.

Yes, Mike. :)

I Am just not a fan of these international games. Even with the bye week after it is unfair to make a team go over there. And Bucs fans are losing a home game for there real fans, not some Soccer loving Brits.

I'm not the biggest football guy, but when I heard that is struck me as very dumb. It's called American football and Americans watch SUPPORT and love it all season long. Why would you have one of the biggest sporting events in America changed to a another country? That is a smack in the face to all the loyal football fans across the U.S. If they want to promote the sport in other countries, have a few games or the like, but not THE GAME.

If they did this and we are all really pissed, all we have to do is boycott the game.
If we(Americans) showed we were actually pissed and the NFL lost ratings, they might even apologize to us.

They better not pick London over New Orleans for the 2013 Superbowl. New Orleans has waited long enough and the big game needs to return there.

Terrible move..do not take an American sport and take the biggest event in sports and place it in another country. Come on Commish, wake up!!

Roger Goodell completely denied the London rumor, (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/nfl/draft-2009/04/24/goodell.ap/index.html) or Mexico City (which I hadn't heard until Goodell mentioned it. Hmmm...).

His moving the season back if the schedule is expanded sounds silly though. No football the first week of September? How about starting the season early, like the last week in August when the weather is still nice in Northern cities like Buffalo and Green Bay? Afterall, there will be two less pre-season games to fill those late August Friday & Saturday nights.

90% of the current teams, don't get to have the superbowl in their stadium, why not start with those cities first and then consider moving overseas

There shouldn't even be a regular season game played over there. If Simon Cowell and the other Brits wanna see the Super Bowl, well then they can bring their jolly ole ass over here.
