So I visit Good Will and Value Village quite often. I find some good deals here and there, sometimes just some cool scraps to use for custom toys but this time was different.

I got these all for $15, 5 bags of two toys for $3 each.

Now you might ask, so what they're just beanie babies? Well you see beanie babies in truth aren't all quite dead, oh no some still are worth a pretty penny, case in point.

I figure the beanie babies shown will fund my collecting habits for a little bit.

Aren't there loads of counterfit beanie babies? Do you have anyway to verify that they are real?

Wat.

Mr.Sci-Fi
05-12-2009, 12:35 AM
Why yes there are, but most have tell tale signs. I've handled thousands of beanies, some counterfeit and I can say these are either really dead on counterfeits or are real. I think I'll send them in to a grading service.

The first thing I thought of when looking at that pic was "are you ****ing kidding me." Why was that my first thought? Because I know how much those are worth, as I used to collect these en masse when I was younger.

I saw, in person, a guy drop $4k on a royal blue peanut years back. . These stuffed toys were at one time "Toy Crack", heck even now you can still see some of these guys go for crazy money on evilbay. I figure If I were to sell these guys I'd get atleast $1k if not more likely around $2k. Not bad for $15.

So because these will turn you a profit that makes them a grail ?

Mr.Sci-Fi
05-12-2009, 12:53 AM
No,It's not a personal grail. Peanuts, humphry and dinos are considered beanie grail pieces in general.

Brandon Storm
05-12-2009, 01:08 AM
Can I have one?

I think you don't quite get the concept of "grail."

I was a pretty big Beanie Baby collector when I was younger.

I've handled thousands of beanies,

I don't know why, but that is a really funny statement.

Mr.Sci-Fi
05-12-2009, 01:23 AM
Sure I do, it's the piece that has always eluded you over time and effort. It's the item on the list that's older than the list. It can be anything, fiscally valuable or not, it could even be something common but emotionally valuable. I've seen some questionable grail threads here but these are not. At one time when I was big into collecting beanies I'd consider these a personal grail now they aren't, these will be someone elses. These beanies are Grail piece beanies that I saved from an unknown fate which was probably going to be destruction as a chew toy for a dog or some young kid that wouldn't recognize the difference from another similar toy.

Beanie Baby, not Beanie Buddy. Size difference there.

Beanie Baby= original size, predates Buddies by years.

Buddy= larger copy of the beanie baby, TY tried to commercialize on the success of the smaller preceding line.

Teenie Beanie= a minature copy of the orginal, was sold at McD's in their kids meals.

I wouldn't say "grail" haul, but that is one helluva haul and find! You will definitely be able to get yourself a true grail of yours with the proceeds from that score.

Very nice!

There might be some good ones you could sell but the majority are just good old toys. I've got a decent amount left of my previous collecting habit, mostly just commons. Every year I hand them out to trick or treaters and then ziplock a dozen or two and drop them into the donation barrel for the Toys for Tots program at christmas.

Nice haul, but that one perticular benies is graded at musuem quality?
What Grail will you buy with the proceeds?

Nope, they are the 25th ones, you can see the blue H.I.S.S. drivers in them.

So...which beanies are rare and which are common?

05-12-2009, 10:50 AM
wow! great haul, I remember those being gold. Looks like best thing to do is to get them authenticated before you sell them to avoid being scammed on ebay. Best of luck, you should do well with those.

no different than 98% of the grail threads posted, I'd say.

That is a haul. When you were collecting them it would have been a grail.

Did they have the tag protectors? Or did you put them on afterwards?

awesome score man!

i suspect a beanie collector passed away and the family dumped the collection...

But seriously, give me one of those stuff cash bags.

So what do you plan on buying with the money you'll make?

Halo and more halo, and probably a HT or two.

Nice haul, but that one perticular benies is graded at musuem quality? True but the one I have is pretty awsome condition, I can't see anything wrong with the tag.

So...which beanies are rare and which are common? Well first all of them in the pic are, the royal blue is the most. There's a few more that use to sought after but now most of the valuable ones are the early ones, exceptions are the employee bear and a couple others .

no different than 98% of the grail threads posted, I'd say. True, I've seen a lot worse GRAIL threads on common easy stuff to get.

Did they have the tag protectors? Or did you put them on afterwards? Most the beanies I see at the good wills have tag protectors, at one point alot of regular TY retailers put tags on their beanies before putting them out for sale.

awesome score man!

i suspect a beanie collector passed away and the family dumped the collection...

M. Yeah you never know why stuff shows up in stores like those. I've seen some really awesome stuff on the shelves/cases of thrift shops.

These are up for trade/sale, for those who still collect these.

Nice haul

Question is how can this be called a grail if you're planning to sell it?

Simply put, because they are key pieces that would define a beanie baby collection. Anyone who still collects beanies would be blown away with them.

Dude,if you seriously scored a royal blue Peanut for $3 you might as well have found a small chunk of gold.

I know this isn't 1998 or whenever the peak craze was but that piece is legendary among collectors.

Everything goes in cycles.Get it verified and if it checks out,put it in a safe and wait till some fool is ready to shell out multiple Ks for it.

Mr.Sci-Fi
05-13-2009, 02:27 AM
