Hadn't been to one in quite a while but over the weekend went over to The Block and thought I'd look around Spencers since the boardies here say they won't carry toys anymore. Seemed like they are trying to turn into Hot Topic. It was all trendy T shirts and assesories.

Just what the world needs another Hot Topic... when did this happen?

When was the last time you actually walked into a Spencers?

It's been about 2 years since they seriously started phasing in the additional apparel beyond the funny t-shirts and novelty hats, and with the rise of MMA that's led to a lot of MMA related apparel being sold exclusively through them.

they've been phasing out figures for about 2 years as well as well as closing down some of their low-performing stores with unreasonably high leases.

I felt uncomfortable a couple months ago cause I walked in with my 5 year old, wanted to see if they had any clearance figures and across from the toys were squeezable stress boob, playboy crap and some lingerie.. oh and the best part were all the teeny bopper Tshirts all over the store that said crap like "I love head" "F*$*@ me I'm Irish" and crap like that..

We were in there for maybe a minute, lol.. I think my son's tainted for life.

There's a mall here on the outskirts of Dallas that actually has the Spencer's next door to the family restrooms AND across from the kid's play area.

I think this might be in reference to the new model that some Spencer's are turning to. The layout of one of the Spencer's I go to actually looks exactly like a Hot Topic with T-Shirts folded into squares and lining the walls to the ceiling--I hate it.

I'm wondering if this is just a rare test model since it's the only one out of about 6 that I frequent. Do you guys have any with this new model/layout?
