View Full Version : Need (picture) help: McFarlane 12 inch Robocop

Because I want a big ass Robocop on my shelf.
Not only is the Hot Toys version ludicrously expensive, it is also virtually unfindable, so I'm looking into this one... I simply adored the regular 6 inch version, so...
But I'd like some pics! I'm worried about the exposed eye, I would've preferred an intact helmet, but maybe it looks cool in person. The rest of the damage looks pretty awesome.
Thanks for the help :)

Gee, thanks;
I was actually looking for pics (and comments) from people that bought it.

No pics, but it's pretty good--sure beats Hot Toys' price. The Hot Toys head always threw me off a bit anyhow.
Decent articulation, gun does not go in hip.

Yeah I know, that's too bad, I would've liked to pose it in the "about to grab gun from holster" pose... How's the exposed eye? I've heard some people complain about silver paint from the armor spilled on the face...
For those that have the 6 and 12 inch versions: is the 12 inch as good as the smaller one? Because then I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

you can try NECA's 18 inch too
i always thought Hot Toys stuff are rip-offs
yeah the mcf 6" is as good as the 12" but the 12" has battle damage

Hot Toys stuff is anything but a rip off. You can see where every bit of your money goes.
I have McFarlane's Robocop, and It's very nice. I don't have any pain issues around the eye. I do wish it wasn't battle damaged, but what can you do? I've been thinking about getting another one and removing the damage.

How would you do that? Or are you one of those insanely talented customizers?
I don't mind the battle damage, except for the eye...
But if I have to choose between 40 bucks for the McF one or 180 for the HT (Robocop 3) version, the decision is made pretty quickly. Gotta save a bit for the HT Predator :D
The Neca one is just too big, I want to display it with my McF Master Chief and HT Iron Man.

Isn't it a bit strange that the exposed eye is almost behind the helmet itself instead of behind the visor?
Other than that it DOES look awesome...

Its right behind the exposed visor. The pic is a bit off.

It seems so. I really DO love my McF Master Chief, so if the quality is comparable...
I just wished the gun would go in the hip, but oh well... Can't have it all...
Gonna order the McF one right now :)

I have the 12" McFarlane Robocop but it's still in the box. I've been wanting to open him up but don't have the space right now.

I have this one and I really like it.
I like it so much that I bought 2 of 'em. So, the McF is a great deal, but it's not HT standards.

Nice pic, and thanks for the PM...
Any remarks about the face? I've seen some pics where the head seems disproportionally large due to the removeable helmet thingy.. Plus it doesn't entirely cover the nose...?

No problem. ;)
It doesn't bother me at all. Sure, it should have sat lower on his head, but being removable and all.....I can overlook that minor flaw. As for his head being "disproportionately large".... nah. It's good. Again, it's due to the helmet being removable. The paint app is really sweet, and all of the small details that you'd expect in a Hot Toys figure is represented in this figure. For an even more awesome figure, I'd recommend the Robocop 1 version, but they cost people their souls. :(
If you're looking to save money, go with McF.
Why not go bigger for the 18"er?

Don't know that I'd go so far as to say insanely talented customizer. But yeah sand it, fill it in and paint it.
If you know where to get a HT Robocop for 180...PM ME!!!!!

If money is the issue go with the McFarlane 12" Robo. He's well painted, sculpted and goes for cheap now a days. Just be carefull not to move his ankles alot. He's top heavy and tends to become tough to stand when the ankles are loose. Also he has limited possibility. If you try to have him stand straight up, like the HT versuib he wont. One leg is longer than the other. So you really can't compare poseability with the HT's version. What I would do Is purchase Sideshow or HT 12" figure stand to pose instead of the base. This will keep him a bit more stable and ankles tight.

Dammit, you're actually making me rethink my decision :D

I want to display it next to 12 inch figures.

I know a guy who might be willing to sell me his HT Robocop 3 Flight Pack version, for 185 euros, that's in the 220 dollar ballpark if I'm not mistaken... Damn Europe.

I forgot about the McF leg thing...
This is turning out to be a difficult decision indeed. And to think it started out as me wanting to "fill the gap" on my shelf between McF Master Chief and HT Iron Man...

I'm almost afraid to ask what "DX" is...
EDIT: Oh right, the eye ball thingy. Didn't know it was called DX.

i based my rip off comment on the T-800 endoskeleton which cost around US$130 where I am. I almost bought it at the shop but when I took out the display piece in my hands it just feels so cheap (light). the sculpt is OK. and they charge u an arm for it. for the same price I can get 3 of NECA's 18" endoskeleton with better sculpt
those HT stuff has tonnes of articulation if you love those, but other than that, I'm not a big fan
