View Full Version : A haul you can't refuse: Hot Toys 12" Don Corleone The Godfather
Karnis

I got my Hot Toys Godfather figure yesterday, & I'm very impressed with all aspects of the product, from the first class packaging to the figure itself, right down to all the included accessories. Here's some pics to check out...
As you can see, the package is quite large, that's a HT 12" DK next to it.
The Godfather profile on the outside of the box is nicely done, the Don's profile is a cutout from the outer box and the raised red part pops out from inside the box. There are 2 boxes inside the main container; one holds the carpeted platform, the booklet, and the cardboard backdrop (one note, the backdrop is too tall for detlofs), the next box contains the figure, accessories, and the requisite HT stand:

http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg180/Karnis2/DSCN0205-2.jpg
The Don looks great, featuring an excellent likeness, detailed paint app, and nice clothing. The only issue I have is the right lapel on the Tuxedo sticks up a little bit, but a quick water down treatment will fix that right up. A "fat suit" underneath his outfit, extending from his waist to his thighs, gives the Don just the right amount of bulk:

The chair & carpeted platform are well done also, the chair is nicely detailed and has a faux leather backing, while the platform is covered in a felt like material with a gold nameplate on the front:

All in all, an excellent product, with an incredible likeness, first class packaging, and lots of accessories. You can easily tell this was a labor of love for Hot Toys, and IMHO they pulled it off with a four star figure. Thanks for looking!

Sorry dude, I missed your post. Your acknowledgement of my haul is quite the heartfelt gesture, and it warms my fuzzy insides to know you not only appreciate my posting but that you stuck up for me in the now deleted "suspended boardies" thread. Excuse me while wipe the tear from my eye so I can continue to type away...ok, I'm all better now, where was I?
Oh yeah...

How much was it?
$179.00 plus overseas shipping. Right in line with other HT products, and considering how much stuff you get with it, and the overall greatness of the product, I think it's a bargain.
This is one of the finest HT figures I've seen, and the face sculpt & overall piece looks like something out of a wax museum.

Great looking figure. The accessories definitely add a sense of value to the pice and make the cost much more justifiable!

Agreed, the entire presentation is very classy.

It looks more like a wax sculpture than a 12" figure.

Wow, great haul! You certainly get what you pay for!
Sometimes 1/6th scale clothing can appear too bulky and not sit nicely on the figure but the fit of the clothing here is particularly good.

Thanks -F!
I think that the "padded undergarment" in this case helps the clothes hang on the figure quite well.

Wayne, you have both, Harvey Dent and Don Corleone. I can get one more Hot Toy figure this month and it's between those two (which I like equally). Which do you believe is a better figure? I will most likely get them both, but my budget can only handle one for now.

The Godfather, by far. Get him now while you still can. Wait until you see the whole package, the entire presentation is top notch.
Harvey Dent will still be around for a while, I tend to think.

I've been leaning more towards the Corleone figure, but the Dent figure has slowly crept it's way into my priority list, as well:p Thanks for the imput:)

I'd be interested to see an ultra close up shot of the facial skin texture.

I've been looking forward to this figure since it was announced and Spliff put up the pics. I was going to wait until my LCS got them in (which would roughly be another month or so), and pay retail at $159 + tax, but I was able to score one for $150 dlvd, and it's the Sideshow Exclusive, too (comes with the hat).

Not one, not two, but three separate reviews of this magnificent figure is now up on Michael Crawford's Captain Toy review website (http://www.mwctoys.com/index.html)...one by Micheal, one by regular contributer Jeff Parker, and another by yours truly.
This figure is easily one of the, if not the best, 1/6 scale figure released so far this year and deserving of triple the coverage. Click the link and check it out!

I would say this is the ultimate in 1/6th scale right now. I was debating and almost hoping to give the edge to Enterbay (I do not have anything from them yet) but Hot Toys won me over, this is a true grown up collectible masterpiece!
