I still say the paint sceme could be better. Well I guess it doesn't matter since Mcfarlane isn't interested in doing creative stuff anymore...
Such a waste.

Nope. Then they'd screw us by making it a Super Chase, of only 5 pieces issued.

They should release this and that Bayle Knight as a two-pack!

I still have all of the LOTBH series 2 pictures saved.

I don't look at them, though, because it makes me kind of sad that I'm looking at a line that will never get released.

I miss what this company used to be. That being said, I really do want that Cronus.

Spawny, yes, those were from Dragons series 9.

Necromancer's a pretty sweet looking figure. I would have bought one of those too.

I disagree.

1. McF made poor figure choices for series 1
2. McF scaled down the size of the figures (Ogre Jr.)
3. McF officially announced the line was canceled before many stores even got in their initial stock.

It was a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure.

I never bought any of the Dragon figures, but those teasers from S9 were kinda promising.

I did buy the KING DRAAKO BOXED SET on clearance at Spencer's last month. He's sitting on my computer desk. I still need to post pics of him.

It was a self-fulfilling prophecy of failure.Yeah, Todd should've released S2 first, then S1. The figures from S2 prob would've sold out, then the S1 figures get released and end up being pegwarmers like they were originally. Todd would've started on S3 and showed us pics of stuff that were bound to be cancelled like S2.

The figures not being in scale with each other was definately one of the main reasons people didn't like these. Especially that the ogre and the dragon were smaller was plain stupid. (Tyr was supposed to ride that beast).

Not sure about the entire line, but I do know that Tyr, at least, was in 6" scale. I had taken a picture comparing its height to a military figure, but I can't find that picture.

Tyr still was smaller than most 6" scaled figures McFarlane used to make.
It was a really cool figure (as long as the head was covered by the dragon skull), but they could have given him a more dynamic pose. Oh well I like him nontheless.

I don't know about you, but I don't buy crap in the hopes that they make something I want, just because it has "McFarlane" printed on the package.

Poor design and poor decisions concerning the line killed it, not "us". Point the finger where it belongs.

Karnis
06-18-2009, 02:40 PM
Another factor about what killed this line was the decision by TMP to concentrate on getting out of specialty shops & into Wal-Mart. WM had no interest in carrying McF fantasy figures so the line was shelved just after the first series hit stores so they could concentrate on what WM thought would sell in their stores...Halo, which did well, and Guitar Hero  , which didn't do so well.

Well... I'm a big dragons enthusiast. I own each and every dragon figure released by TMP (even with the crazy prices down here). I was peeing on myself when I saw the pics of LOTBH S2... but that's only me.

I believe Todd decided to go with stuff that he thought would be a hit (like GH, which I completely dislike), and HE WAS WRONG, YES, HE MADE A SERIES OF CONSECUTIVE MISTAKES. That's the business, you must take risks and chances some times. But if he would have just look at what his fans thought, at least this would have been clear for him:

THE NECROMANCER WOULD HAVE SOLD WELL.

Other examples of petitions of the fans and boardies that went well (because Todd listened):

DRAGONS.
MONSTERS.
ROBO COP.
ELVIS.
GIGER.
AVP.
MM ALIENS AND PREDATORS.
CLASSIC SPAWN COVERS.
MADARIN SPAWNS.
ETC ETC ETC...

Now, who the hell asked for Guitar Hero???

NO ONE.

Compared to what? He is the same height as other 6" scaled McFarlane humanoid figures.

Fake_Nick

He has chickin' legs and he's supposed to be a FAUNO (translate?). so, considering these points, I beleive Tyr is properly scaled with most TMP's gonden age "human" figures.

However, there is one ridiculously tiny red dragon in that series, don't remember the denomination.

It represents the last awesome figure that TMP could have released.

Oh, and it's pretty damn sexy. :D
