I just picked up the HALO Series 4 Equipment Edition olive Security Spartan and red EOD Spartan from Fry's today (on sale for $6.99).
The Security Spartan looks like he's been rolling in the mud though - any tips on removing some or all of the black wash? Will a simple paint remover do or will that remove the olive color as well?

You can try acetone.. maybe water it down.. but it might take the reg paint away too.. best thing would be to test it on a small part.

I think the wife has some acetone somewhere. I'll try it (sparingly). Thanks, J.

I wouldn't spray it on - I'd put it on a q-tip and dab it, just to try it first...
No offense intended to you bborst, because I've seen some Securities with too much wash on 'em myself, but have to laugh, McF gets complaints about no wash on their Halo figs, and now people think there is too much (which I have to agree with in some cases, especially on the blue Hyabussa). So, yeah I do agree though that McF could tone it down a bit....

If the acetone doesn't work, you might try dry-brushing on some of the base color, assuming you can match it.
