It costs $7.00 for parking, last years show it was $6 or $7 to get in. But they might have changed how much to get in since its 200 dealers 40 with cards and 160 with antiques.

8:00am $20
9:00am $15
10:00am $10

Most dealers are setup today.

Wait on buying the Vision. They range from $50-60 right now however when Series 8 hits they'll drop to $35.

Thanks for the advice. 9a - 11a it's $15 after 11a it's $5 to get in. $2.5 for kids 12 and under. Hopefully I will run into some of you there. I'll either wear a spawn t shirt or just a white under shirt and I'll have a 4 year old little boy with me with a grey Raiders sweatshirt on. I guess none of that stands out, but I also wear a pretty big 24k gold chain. You can't miss that. If I don't see any of you there, have a good time.

For those of you that went to the show today in San Jose I thought it was pretty good. My brother and I ended up renting a table after we found out they were only $65 bucks. We made back our money and then some - it turned out to be a good day!

We hooked up with Ben (benbbad) and Mike (POLOCUS23), two very cool people if you ever get the chance to meet.

Ken, where was your table located and what did you have for sale?

Kensjca
12-04-2004, 11:41 PM
We were located in the first aisle to your left after entering, 2nd table on the right.

My bro and I were blowing out regs 3 for $10 bucks. I didn't have much because we didn't go there to sell. We decided at the last minute, I mean very last minute, to rent a table.

I sold NFL 1, NFL 8, NBA 5, NBA Backboard, and Topps Chrome NFL Cards.
I didn't sell Gretzky Chase, Tim Brown No Towel Variants, Lebron James Posters, Lebron James Hummers, 3" Two Pack Lebron & Pierce, Lebron James Topps Chrome Rookie Card, or any Topps Chrome NBA (started giving away the cards to kids).

I guess it depended on what side of the table (buyer or seller) whether you had a "good" time or not.

I was kicking it in the left back wall with Alex. He was the only dealer with a Series 1 blue emmitt.

Also I found out later today that there was and old man selling his junk under his table were Mcfarlane figs & 95 Teasure hunt.

I saw a guy buying the following.

Series 2 Reg Faulk clean for $12.
2 95 Teasure hunts for $3 each.

God know what else he sold that I didn't see under his table. When I look there was nothing but junk left. :(

Maybe next time we'll meet.

Take care

Ben

I was the white guy with the Raider hat and the black spawn Tshirt with the 4yr old boy in the Raiders sweat shirt. (I didn't see any other people wearing spawn shirts there)

I did see the Faulk you guys were talking about. Did any of you see the Snow Tom Brady selling for $250?

To answer what I got, just some odds and ends.
Mecha Hulk
Epic Force Storm Trooper
2 clear chiodo figures
1st appearances batman
2005 shelby cobra concept and 63 stingray hotwheels

KIDS DREAM IS OPEN DAILY; 10-9 WEEKDAYS AND 10:30-6 ON WEEKENDS. THE OWNER IS CHRIS. I'LL BE THERE ON SAT. SELLING SOME OPEN SETUPS ON THE SIDEWALK, INCLUDING MLB WITH MOUNDS FOR THE PITCHERS AND SOME NFL. THE PRICES ARE NOT NEARLY AS BAD AS MANY SHOPS I'VE SEEN, AND THE OWNER (CHRIS) WILL ALWAYS GIVE A VOLUME DISCOUNT. HE CURRENTLY HAS 2 LEBRON AND REGGIE VARIANTS; DATSYUK AND HULL CHASE FROM NHL 9. NBA REGS ARE 2 FOR $22.00 I BELIEVE. HE ALSO HAS A VERY LARGE NFL FIGURE INVENTORY (SEE HIS "NFL WALL"), INCLUDING RAIDERS SAPP AND MOST NFL 10 CHASERS. CHECK HIM OUT!;) BTW, Gamestops got NHL tonight. I found Rangers Leetch, Datsyuk and Sakic chase in the case I opened.:D I couldn't buy from the other case because it had been delivered to the wrong store. They also have regs of the latest NBA and NFL10 (no Roy Williams) for $12.99 (too much). They did have a few Vinatieri 3 bar facemasks figs at that price. Might go get one eventually....

Picked up a Holmes and Bell regs for $5.00 each (for custom NFL matchups), plus a holmes/harrison 3" for 2.50....Also hit a sporting goods store in the mall called FANZZZ, all their figs were $19.99 (Ouch) but they had a Blue Roy Williams. Yikers! Picked it up. They also had a few white RWs at that price....:)
Congrats on the DS Roy :D

Im in San Mateo right now... never find anything up North though... However I did buy an Ube Cake and Buko Pie from Goldilocks this afternoon in Daly City :)

Yeah, I can see it being good for you. Lot's of HotWheels. As far as figures go, it didn't have much stuff that wasn't easy to get. The prices were also very high. Most of the stuff I found there I could get on ebay + shipping and still come out about 30% lower than the prices at the show. Like I've said in the past, maybe Comic Con has ruined me, but this show wasn't really Sht. I'll still check it out for lack of anything better to do and to hopefully meet up with some of you guys.

Fyi - Comic, Toy & Anime Show tomorrow (1/22) in San Jose...

http://www.sacramentocomics.com/sanjose/index.html

I went to the one last summer, obviously mostly comics but there should be a few SP dealers there as well. For those of you that attended the humdinger a few months ago, they were giving away free admission coupons so check your drawers for a crumpled up coupon!

Just got back from the show, here are some notes...

Few tables selling SP's here are the most notable....

1. Warren (local guys to San Jose know him - real nice guy) usual suspects available but did have $6 specials on NBA 7 and few other NFL
2. Keno (first time I met him) Dude had "EVERYTHING" from no helmet Urlachers to Snow Brady, Pirates Bonds to Black Vick, etc... Said they were from his personal collection. Prices were on par - nothing cheap. Also said it was his first show.

picked up a couple of nfl regs for some norcal buddies and a 12" Raiders Rice for me.

Met up with "daboltz" today at the Great Mall. Thanks for the trade Alex. Only the same dealers that frequent these shows were there. The "Weaties Box" man always has a few, and there were other tables with a few scattered pieces. Only one dealer (older Aisian couple) had any kind of inventory. Wanted SB Carr, but $70.00 was too much. Just made one minor trade with him, and ended up not selling my reg. Brady ($40.00 was my asking price). This dealer said he sold a snowy Brady this morn for $240.00 and a Niners Rice for $80.00. He had a 6" Niners Rice for about $150.00. Think I'll wait for Tri-Star for more sales or trades...Will be looking for one of those SB sets now that the limits have been removed down at the Experience this morning!

Sorry guys. I'm gonna miss both shows this weekend. My only possible chance is Sunday. My mother-in-law had another heart attack on Monday and that has put numerous strains on my family's time. I hope you all have fun and please give me all the info about both shows so at least I can think I was there.
sorry to hear that man :(. i wish i could go to.........

Ken: I actually traded my Tim Brown variant for a SB George at the Labor Day Tri-Star show. Back then, George was more visibly available than Carr. If I don't find a Carr before then, I might be interested in buying yours.

Alex, just got back from Tristar, here's the low down on grading...

Beckett, PSA, and GA were all there.
Beckett was only offering Raw Card Review at the show, I ended up giving them my cards to ship to Dallas for BGS grading and slabbing. Grading prices are discounted at the show via service upgrade (2 day is $20 instead of $25, 20 day is $8 instead of $10, etc..) Same tiers apply (1 - 19 cards, 20 - 99, and 100+ for standard quantity discounts).

Hardly any SP's and the ones that were there were too much $$$. Lots of older vintage cards, pretty cool actually. I thought it was worth the price of admission just to look at the old stuff (kind of like a mini museum of sorts)

Ken

Ken, is Beckett gonna be there? If so, do you know what they charge, do you have to leave the cards with them or get them done on the spot? Are the BGS or BCCG grades? Thanks, Alex :)

Also went to Tri-Star today. Since I don't do cards anymore, I was looking only for SPs and other novelties. Ken is right...hardly ANY SPs there. Only two tables had more than a few, and the one with the most was selling regs for $20.00! Yikes! I walked around with a flat box of 6-8 figs to trade or sell. Luckily, a guy from Philly spotted me and bought a couple, and I used the proceeds to purchase an 05 SB set. The Pro Tech dealer had a few cases of them for $45.00 per set that some dealer Fed Exd to him. But many were damaged. When I told him I wanted a set, he loaded 2 pieces into a bag and began to hand it to me. I told him I was looking for something NRMT and needed to see the pieces first.. He takes them out of the bag, and there are 2 Leftwich figs, one with serious damage. I made him pull out about 4 of each before I was able to settle on a proper set with very minimal imperfections. There were probably 7 or sets left when I was there, but beware of the damaged ones. Also got 3 Pro Tech SP protectors for $10.00. The show was pretty big for memorabilia and cards, and the auto stage area was very brisk with Pete Rose, Young and Rice there at the same time. Drive up was fine, but coming back there was sheets of rain. Also stopped at a Gamestop and snagged 2 NHL 9 figs for $3.50 each. Not a bad day, but I expected at least one legitimate SP dealer and figured I'd see new NBA. On to Serramonte next week...

I'm only having 9 cards graded but using two different grading services (1 - Two day Service and 8 - Twenty Day Service) shipping and insurance was $18 for each of my orders. The single card is a higher end card so I wanted it back asap (03/04 NBA Topps Chrome Gold Refractor Carmelo Anthony 01/50).

Based on your quantity, here are the costs:
21 - 40 cards shipping = $16
$1 - $1000 Insurance = $6

We had to have walked right by each other. I was there at 1015 am and left at about 1pm.

I only saw one "non-dealer" bringing in 3 boxes of mixed MLB SP's that he sold to the dealer next to the PSA table. Other than that, I didn't see anyone else walking around with SP's.

Your story about the SB set reminds me of the "old school" produce vendors who display their best fruit up front but don't let you pick from it. Instead, they pick from a bunch of bruised fruit from under their table (you don't realize it until you get home when you open your bag) :D Good thing you checked!

Serramonte was, I agree, the best SP show around here in some time. Multiple dealers had pretty large quantities. I sold some stuff on Sat. only; traded for an Alfredsson variant that I had never before seen, picked up Moss 2 variant for $15.00 and Shaq 1 variant for $18.00. Lots of low-end variants could be had for $15-20.00. Lotrs of traffic at the Mall on Sat. and dealers had brisk sales. My table mate Chris sold 17 NBA 8 regs in 6 hours. Good to see you again Alex...didn't see anyone else on here that I know of. So....when's the next show around here? Still looking for a SB Carr...

If I had a working digital camera, I would post. Don't even get me started on that topic...Picked up a Bonds/Mays grey 2-pack at TRU Blossom Hill (SJ) tonight. The box is really cool; great graphics and a nice presentation. The Bonds likness is one of TMP's best. They also had the remnants of a Coop 2 case; only about 4 figs. I heard that some guy got them to open the cases and give him the variants, so that might be one more case still in the back but likely only has regs. If anyone needs a BOSOX Nomar reg or Plummer regs, Gamestop at Blossom Hill and Winfield has them for $1.50-2.50 each. Great for customs.
