Why didn't anybody tell me that there was a Billy Wagner Astros figure? I thought I had them all. I have Nolan Coop 1, Nolan Coop 3, Clemens, Bagwell, Berkman, Pettitte and Oswalt. Am I missing anybody besides Wagner and the upcoming Biggio?

Don't forget about that Clemens figure that's in SP limbo - it was supposed to be in MLB 15 or 16 but may be pushed back to the next Cooperstown series if he fully up and retires.

The last one on eBay went for $40. I've been watching and have only seen two Wagners on eBay in the last three weeks. They're pretty tough to find so if you can get one for $30 consider yourself lucky :D

Actually Mark answered this recently and said if he signs this year the figure will bea Club Exclusive figure. But I dunno during the game lastnight they said Clemens claims to have his schedule full trough May. Personally I hate his. I mean if he wants to retire thats fine but come out and announce that you are retired, don't keep the entire city waiting with the hope you are going to sign. With Backe down they could really use him, but this game he is playing is getting old.

Mike - good job on the Johnson deal - Mullett POWER!
Me? Jeff Kent? Hhmmm...It's a neat chase and all, but Jeff Kent ain't exactly high up on my list. The only thing I like about him is his game winning walk off 3-run homer against Isringhausen in Game 5 of the 2004 NLCS. Otherwise, I think he's a tool:) I bet you'll find someone to take the Kent off your hands. Talk to you soon!

My cat Roxy already gave Tony G the sniff of approval. After we got home last night I had taken the SP out of the bag and set it on its base on my desk (before I was going to put in on display)...Roxy jumped up to greet me and was like, "who the hell is this...[sniffs]...he's cool, I guess. Congrats on the test score! You better get crackin' for the other 11 of them, though :)
As for the draft...I assume the home team could have done worse. Obviously, passing on Reggie is an unforgivable transgression, but we have to give Mario a chance. He may not score touchdowns, but he can prevent them...hopefully.
Does this mean that Mario Williams will be the #1 Draft Pick SP this year? Or will it be Reggie Bush, regardless?

There's normally 3 maybe 4 Mcfarlane tables. Texas33 and Damasher's table will be the only table with sane prices. You will laugh when you see the prices people ask for at other Mac tables. How the other dealers sell one figure is beyond me.

Try Houston Sports Connection on Westheimer, between Old Westheimer and Dairy Ashford. Ask for Howard(owner) and tell him Steve sent you by. Not sure what all he'll have but he's really only the real card shop left within the city limits. He's a real nice guy, tell him you're from out of town and he might swing a deal for you :D

I was wanting to get Mike Scott, but I wasn't going to be able to make it out to the show so I was looking for someone to help me out. The response wasn't so great so I just kinda let it go. The same day I posted I asked one of my students if he was going to the Tri-Star Show on Saturday, he's a big card collecter. I explained how I couldn't make it out and all and that I was looking to get Scott's auto. He said that he was going on Friday with his dad and I said no biggie, just looking for someone to help me out. Anyway, I show up for work this morning and on my desk is a ball signed by

In my opinion, the show's are not very good. Keep in mind that I don't collect cards anymore, only macs. I've been to the last 3 shows and Texas33 and Damashers booth is the only one worth going to if you want any figures at a good price. The other 2-3 Macfarlane booths couldn't even sell figures on ebay if they wanted what they ask. I have been to 3 National shows, so maybe I am spoiled. Go to a national show if you want good deals on figures. If you collect cards, I'm sure the shows would be great.
sigep001
05-23-2006, 01:12 PM
Yeah, I wasn't too impressed with most of the vendors items.
Too many of them look like it's just a hodgepodge of crap that most people won't buy. I can't tell you how many booths had 20 autographed balls/10 starting lineup figures/10 autographed mini-helmets, some random 8x10s signed, a bunch of autographed cards in no particular order, etc.
I like the booths better where you know what you're going to find before you even take a really close look.
Helmet booth
Ball booth
Mcfarlane booth
etc.
The worst part was that a lof of the vendors carry the same crap they had at the January show, which is the same crap they had the year before that, and so on.
I'm at the point where most of my various collections are down to some extremely hard-to-find items that I'm fairly positive I'll never stumble across at a show like that...only on e-bay. Still, it's sometimes fun to nose through some of the booths, but not when you can remember certain booths from just a few months ago because they have the same stuff.

By the way, I'm interested in having a J.R. Richard Custom done. Does anybody know any tall righthanded pitchers to use? The only player with his hair would be Yankees Reggie Jackson and Mariano Rivera has his pitching motion.

Hit the Swee****er TRU about an hour ago becaue my son wanted a Sand-Trooper. So of course I had to stop by the SP section. Saw they had a case of the new MLB with 8 figs still there...flipped through them and ended up snagging a white Jones. Good for me but no luck for my boy. No troopers anywhere. Ended up going to Super Target and Super Wal-Mart and no troopers at either place. I had no clue these figures were that hard to come by. Still looking so hopefully I can snag him a few soon.

I almost stopped by my Toys R Us but I'm running out of room. If only the new MLB series had some good figures in it. The Jones from MLB 9 looks better and who really wants a Cordero figure?
By the way, the Spawn Store has cases of NFL 12 (McNabb NH), Cooperstown 3, and NBA Legends 1 for sale. Now if only they could have an In The Crease set.

Was in the TRU on Whestheimer yesterday, they had MLB 9 no chases, and a few Ruth's left.

What's the deal with that? Why are these so hard to come by? I had no idea they were THAT popular. It's not just the Sand-Trooper either, it's any of them, Clone, Shock, etc. The only ones we saw were 2 Shock Troopers but they came in a box set with other figures my son didn't really want :(
Hopefully I can make his day and score some of these this week.

Hey guys. I've been out of town for awhile without access to the board and I feel like I've missed a bunch of things when nothing significant has been released recently.
This may be the worst possible time to ask this but does anyone have a D. Wade for sale? It can even be an opener. I think he just became my new favorite NBA player.
Also, does anyone collect the Marvel Legends and have any extras of the Wal Mart exclusives for sale? Specifically Captain Britain, Kitty Pryde, and Warbird. All I find now is Ant-Man and AoA Sabretooth.
Thanks guys. Good to be back in town, ready for the first NFL to begin showing up in a month or so.

Blake: That D. Wade is going to cost you too much right now. Wait a few months and it'll go back down. It's not short printed and the face sculpt sucks so it won't be in demand for more than a few months.

Well guys I finally made my son a happy camper and found the Stars Wars he's been wanting forever. We stopped by the new SWM off of BW8 on the way home yesterday in a last ditch effort to find these figures. Found the SW's stuff, started flipping through and SCORE! He got the only Commander Cody there and a Sand Trooper :) They actually had a few troopers up top so if you want any they're there.
Man, I tell ya, I think I was more excited than he was when I saw that CC hanging there...lol! I'm just glad we finally found these things but more so that I put a hug smile on son's face. Of course though, since the older one got something his brother had to get something so he picked a Scout Trooper with a speeder bike(those cartoon looking ones) :)
Anyways, just when I think it's all said and done he flips over the package and sees there is another Commander in the set....great. Commander Scorch I think his name is so guess what I'm looking for now guys :o

Oh great, now that really makes me want to go hunting for this fig. I figure though if I can do it for sp's then....:o Do you think I should even bother looking or am I better off just buying it online? Also seeing how hard it was to come by these figs I'm thinking about going back to get a few more of the Sand Troopers to put away. What do you think Tim?

I have only seen Scorch online, never in-store, and just one CC that I found at TRU about a month ago. Scorch is apparently the figure right now for Star Wars, so online might be your best alternative. But if I do see one, I'll pick it up and we can work something out, or do c+s.

Uh oh, I've just recently cut back my collecting to that as well mainly for my oldest son, I pick up all the home-town stuff(especially Rockets) since that's his favorite team, then Texans, then Astros. No worries though, there's plenty for all of us ;) As for the chase, all of them. Someone on here can usually use it because we all collect different things. If anything you can always return it if no-one takes it.
Also, whenever you're out and if you run across any Star Wars troopers of any kind(clone, snow, sand, etc) plmk or pick them up if you can. My son has just recently started collecting these guys. You think finding chase figs is hard, try finding any of these guys. At any rate, welcome to the board and enjoy your stay :spawnorb:

I was hoping they'd do him justice with a pinstripe chase.
BTW, there were no other MLB 16 figs on the pegs. Maybe Wal Mart is getting the solid cases like the Aikman.

I was hoping the same thing, but I can live with a reg.

Once again, the black striping is missing from the 'Stros uniform. It's on Biggio's packaging pic, not on the fig. Does anyone know what paint and recommended brush type to use so I can paint them on? And some painting tips would be cool too.:D
Just in case of the inevitable slip.

Just an FYI....
The TRU in Katy had the SB 2-Packs and some MLB 16. Also the Wal Mart at 529/Hwy 6 had an end cap of Biggio (approx 40 - 50).

Hey Chip,
just got your message, thanks for the offer but my wife had the baby this week so I am trying to stay close to home in case she needs anything.
If you go to that Wal-Marrt can you pick me up 2 Biggio's? I'll pay you back ASAP.
Thanks,

Awesome work, except you forgot the smudge of dirt in his upper chest/left shoulder area, from when he grabs a handful of infield dirt for grip on the ball, later wiping it on his jersey.

Hey guys, I'm looking to trade for a Jeff Bagwell. Seeing as how I don't have much to trade with, I'd go 2-for-1 or maybe even 3-for-1 if you'd like one of the NBA figs. Anyways, here's what I have:
Moss 2
TO 2
McNair
Yao 1
C-Webb
Just want to whittle my collection down to just Houston players and NBA. Thanks!

The Super Bowl 2 pack is the lamest thing ever. Two separate bases and the figures don't even interact with each other. I regret buying it so maybe I'll open it. 1960 TRU still has about 5 left.

I disagree. The yard lines on the bases mate up very well, imo. If you ignore the way TMP has it set up in the photo on the box, and set it up so that Hasselbeck's right foot is hanging over the edge so that Polamalu is about 5' away and closing fast, it looks pretty cool.
Besides, it's football. That automatically makes it better than any MLB, NBA or NHL figs...

I don't know. Can you honestly tell me that this two pack is set up as good as the Vick/Dawkins, McNabb/Strahan, or Rice/Sanders? Those are good 2 packs. This one was just thrown together for a few extra dollars.

08-04-2006, 09:38 AM
Yeah, I can. Imo it's a least as good as the ones you named.
I saw the two-packs yesterday at TRU 1960 and I left them there, I didn't like it, no Superbowl patch or nothing related to the superbowl.

I picked up a 2-pack yesterday. I'm a completist so I was going to get it anyway, but I actually like it. Not the best of the bunch but it sure beats the hell out of the Manning/Manning and it looks better than the Gannon/Brooks.
I'm ashamed to say I already hit a BIN on ebay for the HOF Aikman. $39.99 + $6 seemed reasonable at the time.

Man, it feels to good to be back online! A week away is definitely way to long to be off. We're finally on our way back fromj Orlando guys but decided to spend two days here in Pensacola and enjoy the beach :D FYI, if you plan on coming to Orlando set aside at least two weeks. We were there a week and didn't get to do everything we wanted to.
Also, I see Biggio's are abundant. Do you guys think I'll have any problem finding any when I get back in town this Tuesday? If any of you would be kind enough to pick me up some I'd greatly appreciate it. I'd also take one opener for my son's collection as well :)
Anyways, back to vacationing guys. Talk to you guys next week when I get back in town :D

I finally figured out the whole autograph thing at the Texans camp. You have to get a free ticket to practice, wait in line after you get there for another ticket for autographs and then wait in line and hope for a decent list of players that are going to sign. I took my kids Saturday, got several offensive lineman/centers/guards (and of course cheerleaders - :D and Toro ). Also got Mike Sherman's and the special teams coach (Joe). Went back again on Monday and was able to get Domanick Davis to sign my jersey! It's going on the wall in my game room.
Overall, we got a ball autographed by about 16 players on the ball they were carrying around. Oh yeah, my daughter got Antowain Smith and Vernand Morency on the ball. Pretty cool.

That would be me Lance...actually my son:D He has the BF and Sandtrooper already. He's not wanting all of them, just the troopers(clone, arc, etc) and Commanders especially. He likes them for their battle armor, makes them look pretty cool(and I'd have to agree). If you look on the back of the packages you'll see which ones I'm referring to. The Commanders are especially tough to find so if you come across any of those can you please pick them up and I'll definitely re-imburse you.
