Saw 2 Barry Bonbs/Ruth 2 packs at the Toys R Us on Westhiemer yesterday but I left them cause the boxes we're a bit dinged and I'm a package type collector. They are pretty nice though.

I did find an Adrew Jones chase though sitting there at 3 in the afternoon which was cool, just my 4th chase ever at retail for me.

Hit the Swee****er TRU today after I got done working out. I was hoping to find some NFL Legends but no luck. I did however manage to grab the only Ruth/Bonds 2-pk they had :) Also struck gold for my son, all the Star Wars was restocked and was able to grab some variant Clone Commanders(green) and a few Shock Troopers. I can't wait until he sees them...that's really going to make his day!!! :D

Somebody post something!!! Here, I'll start. NFL Legends 2 case came in yesterday. 2 of every reg except for Joe Montana (1 reg, 1 var). I also purchased a Raiders Lott from ebay with the money I made from selling a HOF Aikman:D Not happy with the quality of the Jim Brown, he doesn't fit squarely into the pegs which makes him lean at the wrong angle. It's fixable, but it should've worked properly straight from the package.

If anybody needs a Bonds/Ruth 2 packs or Pujols/Schilling 2 pack, I have one of each for cost ($20).

I'm looking for a Raiders Lott, and a Deion Ravens and a Deion Falcons (I don't care if they are the first versions or the 2nd ones). I'm not looking to spend a ton...I'd rather wait until the prices come down, which I'm betting they will.

The ballpark had a deal if you bought $125 worth of Rangers stuff, you got a free auto'd baseball randomly chosen - the cool thing was, I got to choose. The boxes were sealed, so I just picked the first one that caught my eye...and it ended up being the Blalock. I'm thrilled that I got a free auto ball from a solid player, but pulling a Michael Young or A-Rod (they have tons of the them still) would have been cool, too, especially since Young got his 200th hit for the 4th consecutive year at the game I attended Saturday night.

Lord, the Rangers scored 12 runs like it was no big deal...I guess you have to do that when no lead is safe because they are weak in the pitching department. My wife was saying that the Rangers and Astros should trade pitchers for bats...obviously, the Astros get the sticks and the Rangers get the arms.

I'm a native Texan and am well aware and pretty adjusted to it being hot here all the time, but even though Ameriquest Park (I miss it being called The Ballpark at Arlington) was the house that Dubya built, and it's a wonderful ballpark, it's too damn hot! We were behind homeplate and were sweating like dirty hookers because there was no breeze 90% of the time, even though the game was at night.

Everything was fantastic, though - the service that we had in the food lines, gift shops, and even when my wife got searched...the guy with the wand walked up to me and said, "which one of you two is more dangerous?" I said, "my wife, definitely." He laughed and searched her and we went on in. It was a nice change from the Astros Juicebox employees...they're not all rude, but not exactly friendly. I'd say 7 out of 10 are personable, but Arlington was batting 1.000.


All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good weekend.

What I need from you are your empty printer catridges(you know, the ones you throw away anyway...lol). He works with a company that recycles them so I told him I'd help out as best I could down here. No, I think they want to win, but Drayton would rather get an averatge outfielder (Wilson) for $4 million so he can horde $12.5 million for a cash cow named Roger Clemens. I think I read somwhere that when Clemens ptiches at home, the 'Stros make $2 million more per game than with any other pitcher.

As much as I like Everett, he can't hit worth a damn. Ausmus, either. I could never stomach Jason Lane, and I'm glad Luke Scott has pretty much banished Lane to the bench. I just hope the Astros don't do another Tim Redding experiment, where they give him 5 YEARS to become the pitcher they though he could be, like they think Lane can be another Berkman.

If the Astros are SERIOUS about winning, we need to make sacrifices. Get Tejada, give up Lidge and Everett and some marginal minor leaguers. Sign Carlos Lee or Alfonso Soriano. Chris Burke can kiss my @$$. He's not going to be what they're hyping him up to be, so why waste time? Sign Soriano and give him the expectation that he will be in the outfield one more season. Once Biggio retires after next season, 2nd base is Soriano's until he doesn't want it anymore.

Here's my ideal Astros lineup for 2007:

1B Berkman
2B Biggio/Soriano (fulltime in '08 - put Bidge in the OF again for all I care)
3B Ensberg (great in '03 & '05, should have good '07)
SS Tejada
CF Taveras (I'm willing to give him up)
RF Scott
LF Carlos Lee
C Not Ausmus or Quintero
Closer Dan Wheeler (if Lidge is gone)

I hope we keep Lidge. He still has 32 saves this season, about 6 or 7 blown saves, but that's not abnormal for a oft-appearing closer. The Astros have leaned on Lidge since the departure of Octavio Dotel, and was out there almost every night. People have been able to get good looks at him, and they caught up with him this year. Lidge still averages closer to 2 K's per inning..+/- 50 innings (I think, could be totally wrong innings-wise) and around 100K's. He just got knocked around more this year, plus he never should have changed his delivery. It's a good thing they fired the pitching coach.

We not only need sticks, we are in bad need of arms. We have Roy-O locked up, probalbly will resign Pettitte (just don't look for him to show up until the second half), lost Backe until '08, and he might not even be any good anymore. Hirsch and Buccholz (to me) aren't quite ready for prime-time, but who knows? Maybe they'll play winter ball and hone some skills. I was thinking maybe the O's could throw in a pticher in return for Lidge, Everett, etcetera. But who wants a pitcher from their staff? Didn't think so.

That lineup may be farfetched, but like the saying goes, "you gotta spend money to make money."

Yes, Berkman and Oswalt have multi-year deals, but after that, who's really left that's truly valuable?

Look what the Mets have done in 2 years - gone from also-rans to the best team in the National League. The Blue Jays have improved also, but nearly as much as the the "other" New York team. How'd they do it? They spent an s-load of ca$h.

I'm just saying, the majority of the time, you get what you pay for. If we get some offense, Berkman won't have to do it all himself anymore. That has to get old.

They've really turned it on these last couple of weeks, but why can't they play like this all year long, or at least, most of the time? Look at the Twins...not a lot of $$$, but fantastic talent - same with the A's. That's a rare formula, and if Drayton thinks that the 'Stros can subsist with one of the worst offenses in baseball, he's truly senile.

The Astros will never spend money. They wouldn't spend it on Nolan Ryan, Billy Wager, or Darryl Kile and they're sure not going to spend any now. The owner only cares about making the Astros competitive enough to keep fans in the stands. No matter who owns the team, the philosophy has always been the same. They had $22 million for Clemens, but they couldn't sign somebody else knowing that the $22 million would be off the books after this year? Then, they were willing to get rid of Oswalt instead of paying him what he's due. The signs have been there since the 80s. This is a cheap team with cheap ownership. I'm surprised that they didn't sign Ensberg long term (before he sucked this year) since he would've been cheaper than most other 3rd basemen.

With that said, I think they will finally spend some money this offseason because the fans are growing impatient. However, it's two years too late. They've had one of the best pitching staffs in the history of the game and nobody to give any run support. These Astros could've been in the history books. Instead the potential was wasted. Pettitte was always known as a second half pitcher, but now he might as well not show up for the first half of the year. Clemens probably won't be back. That leaves us with Wandy:rolleyes: , Hirsch:rolleyes: and Sampson:rolleyes: . You'll probably understand if I'm not in a hurry to get season tickets for next year. I only complain because I care:D

Yes, Berkman and Oswalt have multi-year deals, but after that, who's really left that's truly valuable?

Look what the Mets have done in 2 years - gone from also-rans to the best team in the National League. The Blue Jays have improved also, but nearly as much as the the "other" New York team. How'd they do it? They spent an s-load of ca$h.

I'm just saying, the majority of the time, you get what you pay for. If we get some offense, Berkman won't have to do it all himself anymore. That has to get old.

They've really turned it on these last couple of weeks, but why can't they play like this all year long, or at least, most of the time? Look at the Twins...not a lot of $$$, but fantastic talent - same with the A's. That's a rare formula, and if Drayton thinks that the 'Stros can subsist with one of the worst offenses in baseball, he's truly senile.

Holy crap. I just scored a Leinart off eBay with a BIN of $12.99. $18.49 w/ shipping.
I'm hoping the seller doesn't come back saying they made a mistake or something. It's a power seller with 2300 feedback and 99.8% positive so I feel pretty good about it.
This is almost as good as winning an auction for Astros Wagner at $8.99 when all the others were selling near $30. I still don't know how that happened.

When you list cases, put a list of what figures are in the series. I had to do some quick research to find out who was in NBA series 2. Also, see what you can do about adding credit card orders. Is the shipping really only going to be $5?

Thanks for pointing that out. There's a glitch in the check-out process. It's actually $6 for the first item then $1.50 for each additional one. Your order actually has a $9.50 shipping charge on it, not $5. Plmk

Some of you know me as "VikesGuy" (Dane). Most of my business on the board was as VikesGuy, so I may keep trying to get it back. I went up to the Sam's Boat in the Woodlands with a wooden base to get Moulds' autograph.

As the first segment ended, in walks none other than Andre Johnson!

I quickly got his autograph right after he was announced while most of the crowd was still kind of confused (the Moulds show doesn't usually have a guest).

I was fortunate to go to the show that Johnson showed up to, and I was fortunate that I didn't "waste" my base on a Moulds autograph.

I have a dilemma, gentlemen.


This year is going to be the last really good Christmas my wife and I will have for about the next 4 years.

She is leaving her current job on 1/2/07 to go back to school full time to complete her MBA and then go toward a career as a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthesiolgist.

Her leaving her job (don't get me wrong - I'm truly glad she is quitting - that place was literally sucking her life force) will cut our income in half, and she'll take a menial part time job to barely cover her individual insurance and the utilities (I pay the big stuff - house note & insurace, cable, groceries).

Basically, our disposable & most of our safety net income is gone. We can still go to the movies every now and then, we'll just eat at home. No weeklong annual vacation or weekend travels, no events or major purchases, home improvement, etcetera - all the extra comforts, I suppose. My wife has already signed up and paid for 14 hours of classes - her part time hours will vary, so some months I will likely have to pick up her slack, but am glad to do it. Her happiness has no price.

Here's my rub - I ordered an NFL 14 case two months ago from Killertoys.com - I called today to cancel the order (my wife and I decided she's quitting over this past weekend), and I was told it has been charged and can't be cancelled:mad:

Here's what I'm asking of my fellow Houston boardies:


PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE (if you haven't already) don't buy any NFL 14 regs from anywhere yet...get them from me so I can at least break even on the figs

There's only a couple of them I'm interested in, so there should be at least 8 (possibly 10) figs I'll need to get rid of once my case arrives. Any chases I'm not interested in will be available as well, but I will ask a reasonable price for those pieces. If I can't meet you in person, I hope that c+s (with paypal fees) would be possible.

Don't worry, I won't flame you guys if you don't buy them from me, but I'll likely be stuck with these figs (selling them on ebay is pointless after fees and shipping), and since I'm not looking to take on any more SP's, trading is pretty much out, as well. I may consider multiples for a chase or whatever, but that's a last resort.

Since I was charged for the case already, I assume it will be here in the next week or two.

I saw an entire case at the Bedrock City Comics on 1960. One Shannon per case according to the employee there. I didn't see a price but I did have a look at them and they look pretty good.

Thanks for the info but unless they're doing a sale, I'd never buy toys from them (I go to the one on Westheimer). Way too expensive. But perhaps I'll swing by and take a look at them sometime.

Matter of fact, I am about ready to dump anything Texans related. I am SO freakin peeved that they passed up both Bush and Young! Well, there was NO DOUBT in my mind what was going to happen when the game was on the line in Relaint Stadium yesterday. 3rd and 14......Vince Young with the ball in a pressure situation....it's almost a given that he will make it happen.

The picture in today's Chronicle says it all......look at Mario falling on his arse trying to get to Vince, who of course is running away from him out of the picture.

No Reggies and one Gates which I picked up. No chases at all.

I've got Troy and Reggie on it's way to me thanks to Tim so left the Troy's of course but it's a sweet fig.

They also had a couple of Cowboy 3 packs, Giants 3 packs, the new McF Military & a few Clemens CE's

Wal-Mart on I10 and Westview had Clemens CE's also.

There's a regular Reggie Bush haninging in the Baytown TRU as of today at 3 pm.
I also found two Knicks Francis and a Royals Oscar Robertson. Anyone interested in trading some football for these? I know that's not normal protocol, but I figure a 3 for 2 crappy football chase or 2 for 1 or something.

I need all the football from NFL Legends 2, NFL 13 and 14...except for the White Payton and Raiders Lott. I only collect chase figures and surprise figures, things like that.
