Dang, that's kinda far for me. Did they get a couple of cases? I think it's only worth the drive if I can buy the 4, maybe 5, that I want.

olny had one case of 8 figs. i went back today and they had one case out.I found an Retro Terry. It had 1 bosh,3 james, retro terry , 1 pierce, 2 shaq. No Howard.

Sweet-water TRU only had 4 figs left: picked up LeBron & Pierce and left Bosh & Shaq. I want my Howard!

Picked up a retro Terry (woo hoo:rolleyes: ) this morning along with Shaq and Lebron. Where the hell is the Howard figure? It must be super shortpacked.

I'll post pictures of my Christmas hauls as soon as the last piece gets here.

Yo Mike, where did you find the NBA figs??

Smbdyfnkillme

Toys R Us by Willowbrook. They should still have two Lebrons, one Pierce, one Shaq and one Bosh. I really wasn't even looking for them. I went there to find the retirement Gretzky figure. No luck on that.

Steve - Are you setup at Tristar in 2 weeks?

I need a few figures - Faneca, William Thomas, Oilers McNair, Bower, J. Terry, and the J. Terry green uniform.

I have Blue Aikman, Rockets Malone, Elway2 chase and a couple of regular figs (Elway2, Bo Jackson).

I was curious if a) you would be there, b) which of the figs I need that you have, and c) if you are interested in any of my figures. I have no problem throwing in cash to equal the value going to you.

Let me know,
Will

If you have a regular Astros Clemens or a chase Rockets Francis, we could probably work something out.

Funny you say that Josh. I'm not a VY hater or lover but I was listening to sports talk radio the other day and one of the dj's was saying that VY is nothing but a walking INT. I couldn't help but start laughing :D

Where are your Texans? Did they make the playoffs? VY had a bad year.Don't hate on VY.Make sure you cheer for the Cowboys next weekend .Yes, they are in the playoffs also unlike your TEXANS.

Defensive, aren't we? You know what's so sad about Vince Young? He made the Pro Bowl last year and he had worst stats. Shows what the voters know. He just sucks. If it wasn't for the running game and the defense, the Titans would be in trouble.

I actually feel sorry for that defense. If they can't hold the opposing team to 14 pts, they have almost no hope of winning.

Don't be fooled by what he did at UT. He had one of the best teams in the nation. His line was probably the best in the nation and he had top 10 players at almost every position. What you're seeing now is what you get when he isn't carried by a load of talent. Same thing with Reggie Bush.

First of all the man was playing behind a scrap oline that could not block anyone do to injury. Didn't help that your boy Chris Brown fumbled after VY got them in scoring position. Then they miss a fieldgoal. Then BLOWN coverages in the D. They did a good job agianst the run. Can you even name his wideouts & tigtend? When they get VY some help & let him play his game & stop trying to turn him into a pocket QB it's going to be trouble for the NFL. Also please he was the longhorns when he was at UT. How many chapionships did Sims win & he had way more talent around him than VY did. Not to mention the long horns these last couple of years without VY. Come on man STOP THE HATTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard all these excuses before. The Titans offensive line doesn't suck. There are plenty of worse lines in the league. Vince has pretty good wideouts and his top 2 tight ends are a matchup problem because of their speed. The problem? Vince isn't accurate and can't get the ball to them. Ben Troupe is one of the fastest tight ends in the league. He'll burn almost any linebacker one on one.

Young will never be good. These are the exact same excuses that we heard with Michael Vick. "Wait until Vick learns to throw" "Vick just wins games" Blah, blah, blah. It wasn't true for Vick and it isn't true for Vince. Both QBs benefitted from a good running game and a good defense.

By the way, don't ever compare Simms to VY. VY may suck, but Simms was only starting because of his dad. Talent-wise, the Longhorns had more talent when VY was there. Better offensive and defensive lines. Waaayyyy better secondary. Better running backs-by-committee (unless you think Benson was awesome at UT).

Not to mention that what he did in college is irrelevant because he's not in college anymore. Archie Griffin won two Heismans and couldn't do much in the NFL. Players that were much better than VY never amounted to much in the NFL. VY will never be anything but average.

Yet you live in Houston. Same bandwagoners everywhere. You couldn't find a Cowboys fan in Houston before the 90s championship years. Now, they're everywhere. I wonder why.

Maybe if you get together with the Reggie Bush fans (apparently, including Todd McFarlane) and wish hard enough, then Bush and Young won't suck.

Don't take anything I say personal. I'm just convinced that Vince was a product of the modified system that they ran especially for him at Texas.

Man, I still have not seen Dwight Howard or Jason Terry anywhere. What the heck?

Smbdyfnkillme
01-07-2008, 10:05 AM
Dwight Howard is impossible to find. Even if you see him, he's only one per case. Most cases don't even seem to have a Howard.

The Terrys are there. You just have to get there before the Mavs fans. I already traded mine since it looks like the biggest leaner of all time. I don't know how that figure can be displayed for more than a month before it leans.

All the Texans needed was to have Andre Johnson for a few more games and they would've traded places with the Titans. I'll be sure to bring this up next year after the Texans get a decent running back and VY fans are still making excuses.

I'm disappointed in the new NFL series choices. They expanded the lines only to give us Big Ben 2 (why? His other figure isn't even that old or expensive), LT 5 and Favre 5. McFarlane's choices are starting to get ridiculous. Who really needs an LT 5 or Favre 5?

I think it might be the guys who's favorite teams are outside the cities they live in? hmm.....oh, I forgot to tell you guys something, I've been a looooonnnggg-time Patriots fan, I was born in New England, followed em every season for as long as I can remember, they are my favorite team of all-time! I didn't grow up in Houston. I have been a Cowboys fan since i was a little kid. Thanks for the luck ckford, as long as they keep improving, I'll be satisfied!! I was at the first game at Reliant when the Texans beat the Cowgirls and Quincy Carter was the qb, you guys were pathetic...and I was at the pre-season game this year when the Cowgirls starters played into the 4th quarter against our 2nd and 3rd stringers, only to come up short! So, you take what you want from the hometown franchise, they've had their share of problems like the rest, but I'd still take Carr back over VY!!!!....hahahahahahaha.....and you know, bad thing is, I've met Vince 2 or 3 times when he played high school ball here for Madison, he's really a nice guy! But when all your UT fans killed and stomped on Mario, I had no choice but to wish bad things on #10!

Well....I live in Houston now. My name is Stephen and I just moved from Nor Cal. I LOVE SP's and am finishing up a deal with Damasher and CKFord right now. I will be at the show this weekend and look forward to seeing some of you guys hopefully. Hopefully all of my deals can go exclusively though this group. I collect SP's only of:

Golden State Warriors
San Francisco 49er's
San Francisco Giants
Oakland A's
Houston Astros
Houston Rocker
Sacramento Kings
Houston Texans

I am an opener, and MOMC collector. I like to open one of each fig (including the variant) and keep one MOMC :D:D (OCD is awesome...right?;))

I used to trade years ago on here as MrMojoRisin71.

Also, tell Damasher to keep a look out at his door for our trade :D:D:D:D:D BIG box coming his way.

If CK is reading this, why don't we meet up at the show so I can buy that stuff your selling me.

And lastly, lets get ready to get our trade on yo!!!!!!!!

Yea, that's me :) Do you have any of that stuff left over that you're wanting to move?

...by the way, what did you do with all of your Bobbles? Last I spoke with your mom she told me that you were getting out of that hobby? That must've been a couple of years ago...

Question for all you Houstonites...or Houstonians. How's the Houston Auto Show? Are there lots of companies and new cars and concept cars? Or is it just a few new model year cars and that's it. I'm thinking about going, but I grew up going to the Detroit Auto Show (best in the country) so I was wondering how it compares.

Well it's definitely not like the Detroit show but each time I've gone I've had a good time. Every car company you can imagine and plenty of concepts. I think you'll find it a good show but that just my .02 :D

It's easy to see why you are the only SP dealer left at those shows with the prices you guys were asking for. That old dealer from Chicago probably just gave up and put his SPs in storage along with his SLUs and beanie babies.

I'm glad you guys did so well at the show. There were a lot of people there both on Saturday and Sunday, and there was a pretty consistent crowd around your area (at least everytime I walked by). It looked like you guys were even selling some high-end stuff too (it looked like that one guy was about to buy all of your Bradys!).

Thanks for the great deals again.

Steve (Texas33),

Since you've been on this thread since the beginning, what happened to all the guys that used to post/collect? Vikesguy, Lagoldenboy, nme, even the guy who started this thread.

I'm in Austin for business this week and bored to death. I spent about 2 hrs looking back at what's left of the early days of the Houston thread and it was amazing to see how many people were dedicated to searching all over town, at all the Gamestops even.

Saw that CK has been a hawk since day one! :D

Saw the beginning of the Sportfigs.net relationship.

Like I said, I'm bored but it was fairly interesting to see the local support and willingness to trade anything!!!!

Ahhh, young grasshoppa...he who asks many questions shall receive many answers :D

Well, let's see here. You're right on CK...lol! I still remember meeting up with him waaay back in the day on my way to the airshow to complete a trade. Man, how time flies...must've been at least two years ago!

The beginning of SF.net, hmmm now that's a good question. I honestly don't remember how it happened. Pretty sad huh? :o Maybe Damasher can better answer that one for you bro.

Vikesguy(Dane)- I ran into him about a year ago at the gym and he said he lurks now because he can't remember his pw. He does still collect but I don't think he's into as heavy as before...I could be wrong though.

Lagoldenboy- I have no idea what happened to him. I never even met the guy.

nme(Eddie)- I ran into this guy about 2 years ago at Memorial City Mall. His brother actually worked at the KB Toys over there and I never even knew it. He will always be remembered for buying the $800 clean no stars Emmitt...crazy! I don't think he collects anymore though because last I spoke with him he told me he was trying to sell his stuff.

Gravy028(Matt)- Great guy and one of the nicest ever to grace the boards here. He was very easy to deal. He gave me one of the best deals I ever received here. I traded him my 03 SB set for two cases of NHL 5 which he purchased just to complete that deal. His main thing was MLB but he did do a little NFL. He's moved to Dallas and joined the DPD and was getting ready to head off to Washington for his training because he'd been accepted to become a Secret Service agent.

Also since we're giving a little history lesson here a little fyi for you. Back in the day there used to be a group on here known as the 4 Horsemen. It consisted of myself, Vikesguy, nme and Gravy028 I believe. We got the name because we were the four main guys that were always posting and always had trades going on between us. That's how we all became friends. Similar to today but back then it seemed a little easier to work trades, a chase for a chase and so on. I still remember trading my blue Emmitt for a chase Pronger! Good luck getting that trade these days....lol!

Ahhh...perfect timing! VikesGuy? That's me! Yes, Steve (Texas33) is pretty accurate. Password issues caused me to lose my screen name (no, I wasn't banned or anything)....I created this one and used it for a short time. I emailed Mark Weber once and he helped get VIkesGuy "restored" but then it quit working....all my trades on this thread as well as the BST forum were with this name. I last posted here in Dec 06......I do still collect, just not near as fanatic about it as I used to be. I have MOST, not all, NFL figs though (at least the reg). Back in the day when I was on here, I kept all my figs MOC....since then, I have moved into a house where I could have my "Men's Den", and I have all the Series 1-5 NFL carded and hanging up, everything after Series 5 is loose and on shelves. If I can figure out how to post pics on here, I'll show it to you guys...I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.
Oh, and Steve.....I believe the last time I saw you it was at last year's Tri-Star show......we just "talked about" the gym there! I didn't go to the show this year, although I would have liked to have gotten a Griese or Csonka auto'd helmet....my "fantasy" collection is an auto'd FS helmet from a star player from EACH NFL team.....oh, well, one can dream.....

Great stuff!! I can't remember when it was you and I met the first time. I just know it was to get you a chase Lebron and we had to meet at that AMC at the Beltway and I45 south since we live in opposite corners of town.

I wish I'd been more active in collecting back then. I would have enjoyed the trading.

I'm only NFL now but I used to have every other retro made (except NHL). Sold them all on Ebay and would have been much happier trading/or selling them locally. I used to have a great hookup at a couple of Gamestops on my side of town.

I still can't believe how many chase pieces you guys used to find. I lost count of how many Pirates Bonds people found.

Novak's game winner was awesome!

I die laughing after he made that shot and ran down the court talking trash.

P.S. Dallas is giving up a lot in the Kidd trade. I also think it's hilarious that Devean George has a no trade clause and is holding the deal up. ;)

Hey guys, sorry that I don't post much anymore. I guess that I'm not collecting as much as I used to, because I'm running out of space in the house, I work alot more hours now and I have a little Goldenboy on the way. Now I really just look for Louisiana and Texas related figures. I don't go on the hunt as much now, but I'll try to check in more in the future and help you guys find stuff that you may be looking for.

Heater
02-21-2008, 08:15 AM
With the rotation the Rockets have been using lately, I don't think the trade really does anything for or against them. I forgot Mike James was on the team and Bonzi isn't the player of old, even though occasionaly he would get his numbers. I hope the Rockets handle Miami tonight. If they can do that and then get past New Orleans, they have a shot at a 16 game win streak.

Anybody finding Cooperstown 5 around town. I see the pegs are set at a couple of TRU's, but nothing yet. I guess the stock boy hasn't had a chance to dig out all of the chases so the cases haven't hit the shelves.

MarkG
02-21-2008, 08:22 AM
They should be at all TRU's by this weekend. I know some Houston boardies have found them at several already.

Blake Grigg
02-21-2008, 08:38 AM
I saw remnants of 2 cases of Coop 5 at TRU in Pasadena yesterday. Plenty of Mantle and Aaron, 2 Schmitt, and no Eckersley or Cobb. I haven't looked everywhere but it's the first place I've seen that series.

CK must have gotten there first...:)

Not to be rude Mike but how do you know I was referring to myself? True I don't live that far away but it's not exactly around the corner either. As for some of the other boardies Tinsel Town is close to a 40-45 min drive for them. I don't mind meeting there but in all fairness we have to consider everybody that's meeting, not just the 4 that live in close proximinity. However, IF we were to change spots I'd have to agree with Josh and make it downtown somewhere. That's a bit more centralized for everyone and I don't think anyone would have any objections.

Anyone else have a take on this?

Texas33

Mark, I was the first one through those doors today and you didn't miss anything. The case didn't have any Cobbs, Eckersleys or chase figgs which sucked because Ty was the main one I was looking for. I did pick up the two Aarons and a Malkin chase though so my trip wasn't all wasted.

...Chalk up another Chaseless and Cobbless case for H-town

MarkG
02-21-2008, 11:49 AM
Damn Steve! Youve found a lot of Malkin chases, congrats. If we do decide to change up our spot, Downtown works for me. Only thing is we need space to park and all, so I cant think of too many spots that have that much room, unless we park in a lot.
On another note, I'm enjoying not having to look at my history page to find the Houston thread with all this posting going on lately. We almost have 2 pages in the last couple of days.

TexasHeat
02-21-2008, 11:52 AM
Hmmm i can go both ways on this...........part of me agrees since majority are in one area then we meet in that area. Part of me also says centralized but I agree with Mark downtown isnt the best for parking.

What about the Marquee parking lot at I10 and Silber, its only 10 minutes from downtown and a little more center than 290.........I dunno.

Personally 290 is great cause it is close for 4 of us but whatever......just someone call mea nd ill be there at 3 Saturday lol.

You know, I didn't even think about bringing my digital. I'll have to do that next time. Today would've been a good time to have it though because there quite a few of us. Thanks to everyone that made it out because I think that was the best turnout yet, no? It was a good time just hanging out talking to everyone, we'll have to do that more often.

...and by the way Josh, I still have a Mets Wright if you ever need one :p

Also, I stopped by Chip's house afterwards kids and all I can say is two things, G' Dayam that schiet is freakin' far and the pics don't do justice. You guys have to witness it in person. TRU ain't got nuthin' on Chip!!!

Nice collection! Where's life size Yoda?

Has anybody seen a Halo 3 Cortana figure? I've been to 3 Wal Marts and that figure is always missing (1 per case).

Got my Cooperton case today. I'm not sure that I'm real big on the breakdown:
1 Schmidt
1 Eckersley
2 Sandberg
3 Mantle
4 Aaron
1 chase Cobb

Not sure why they think it is a good idea to put 4 of one fig and none of another?

I agree with the 4 figure thing but at least it was Aaron. Could've been worse and stuck your arse with 4 Schmidt's...now that would've sucked! Good hit on the chase though :spawnorb:

Just saw it on ESPN, the Panthers have released David Carr. No surprise, I saw this one coming a mile away as I'm sure the rest of you did. So where's his next stop kids? CFL, Arena League or retirement?

Hey, which one of you cleaned out the Bunker Hill TRU? I went in on Tuesday to see what they had and the manager told me they would get a truck on Thursday and have the product out Friday or Saturday. So today I was in the area and stopped in and they had 15 Cooperstown on the pegs. Only Mantle, Aaron and Sandberg. So if anybody wants to sell me the Cobb you grabbed, let me know and congrats to the guy that hit the fresh case.

Most Houston cases had no Cobbs or Eckersley's and were 8 fig cases. Chances are onyl 1 fig was bought before you got there

That makes me feel better about the 8 figure cases. I did find a Eck at the Westhiemer TRU and left it since I didn't want it. Maybe I should have bought it for trade bait. It seems that it is hard to find just like the Cobb.

Stopped into the Sugarland TRU last night after dinner and saw 10 figs on the pegs. Looked down and noticed 3 more figs stashed behind the Eagles 3-pks. Two Mantles and 1 Sandberg, which was the blue one. So obviously I picked it up and walked out a happy camper again ;)

FYI, Franco called me last night and had the exact same Eagles 3-pk scenario at another TRU. Only his find was a chase Cobb. Another score for the good guys!

Stopped by Sugarland TRU lat night and saw the left-overs from a MLB 20 case....2 figs missing. What was left was 3 Wangs, 1 Utley, 1 Sheffield and 1 Konerko. They also had the new Mets and Red Sox 3-pks which looked pretty good. I left all of it by the way but not before stashing some 3-pks though ;)

Oh, and hit the Hwy 90 SWM last night to pick up something for my oldest son since he got all A's and 1 B on his report card. Lo and behold sitting out front on the SP pegs was a white Elway. Nothing major but a chase none the less. Did I pick it up you ask? I think everyone here knows my motto... :D
