Glad everyone had a great weekend. I finally got my Neo in Chateau Matrix Box Set. It freakin rocks! Found remnants of MLB5 at OST TRU. 9 figs and no variants :mad: ! Pisses me off b/c I'd been there everyday after work, then get there and only 9 figs. Oh well, saved me some $$$.

Other than that, got my car broken into and wallet stolen yesterday. So I have been and am dealing with that. The Cubs did take 2-3 from the Yankees however, so that helped out the weekend somewhat :rolleyes: . Later!

That being the case you now have a complete set of MLB 5 variants minus the repaints. Hopefully when NHL 5 comes out I'll have just as good luck. Eddie and I will be hitting some GS's tomorrow so if you pray hard enough we may able to take care of those for you as well...lol ;) We'll be mailing out this week so I should have it by the weekend. If it's good for you we can meet up then and do the swap :D

Hope you supplied plenty of KY, or that one might have hurt. Thanks guys! Man, I can't believe you got me a Phillies Schilling and A's Giambi?!!!!!!! AND on top of that, Steve got me my Red Lowe and Grey Kendall, along with the White Kendall! You guys are too much!

That is what this community is all about fellas! Fortunately for me, I was the one to reap the benefits this time. Hopefully I'll be hooking you guys up with NBA and NHL soon! Pretty anticlimatic huh? I tell you cases that hit the Galleria store are cursed. Well there was a white Kendall in there so I picked it up for steve so he won't have to rush to that other store in the morning.

Well, I knew MLB5 was hitthing GS today, but my work schedule didn't allow any timely hunting....I was in River Oaks and took the Westhemimer path all the way to Hwy 6 on my way home today....neither GS or the WM along the way had any MLB5 variants of any kind(just 10 regs, as did the 3rd one I stopped at in my "neighborhood")....I've been looking for you guys too, just not being in the right place at the right time like I used to have time to do. :(

I noticed today, A's Giambi was everywhere. Like all the stores I hit had A's Giambi. The case breakdowns were pretty much the same, either they had lots of bonds or lots of sorianos and maybe doubles of others. Each case had 1 repaint, ok MOST cases had 1 repaint, because unless I COMPLETELY overlooked one in the galleria case most MLB5 has one repaint in the case, just more giambi. Kendall I only found 1 but they put no repaint in that case.

I am a new collector, (last 3-4 months or so) and was was wondering do certain stores only get the repaints? For instance, am I barking up the wrong tree if I go to different Wal-Marts looking for A's Giambi and Phillies Schilling? The 2 Wal-Marts closest to me have not put out any MLB 5 figures yet, are they supposed to put them out at the same times as other WM's? I have been to approx 6 WM's, 3 TRU, 2 GS and 1 EB and have yet to see any variant other than Gagne (all at WM's) and absolutely no Kendall's of any sort. Anybody got any leads on where I can pick up a Kendall? Thanks for any help, feel free to email me at damann1@sbcglobal.net if you are interested in trading ( I would like to get in your trading circle!)for a Gagne variant. Welcome :D , what part of town are you in? yes you are barking up the wrong tree. Lets see if I can help. If I leaving anything out guys help me out.
1. TRU and GS have been they only ones to get the Schilling and A's G.
2. I would think Wally should put them out at the same time, but some don't or just haven't gotten any yet.
3.NME has been the only one to get a kendall, I think.
4. GS in town should have got theirs today, as for TRU is anyones guess. some won't put any out till some of the older figs are gone.

Thaks for posting your responses.I work in Spring and live in the Woodlands. I try to do my searching on my lunch break area and on the way home.Woodlands GS did not have anything new on their shelves today.The GS down just south of Greenspoint had 11 new MLB 5 on their shelves. I assume someone just beat me to the variant or somebody at the store was keeping it. Is it worth asking at GS if they have any other figures in the back or do they just get pissy with you?
Do you know if some WM get more figures then others? Spring Super WM had 4 of those new display boxes full of figures last week, while the FM1960 had only 2. Do they get different amounts per store or just put them out at different times?

Different amounts per store. GS no point in asking if they have anything in the back. The only things back there are extra games and game systems. Maybe a few accessories, but toys, pc games, and magazines are all out on the floor. You just got beat, that was it.

I'm glad to say we did pretty well. It's so much easier when you have two people working the "system". In addition to the GS's on Eddie's list here are a few more...

Dane-Thanks for the heads up on the Theodore's. Considering the condition of them and that they're logo-less I'm still debating on whether or not to hit that KB tomorrow. Who knows, I may just get bored and decide to take a little drive.

Kevin-Sorry to rain on your MLB 5 parade man. Don't worry though, the figs are in good hands. I'm sure between Eddie and myself you'll be able to get what you need. Just let one of us know.

Matt-I just got done reading your email about our trade. That sounds fine with me. You really didn't even have to worry about it because I was going to do that anyways. Remember, what goes around comes around, right? From where I'm standing I foresee some NHL 5 and NBA 4 in my future...lol. I'll be calling you tomorrow to finalize everything.

Steve-Welcome to our little community :D What part of town do you live in? We all try to help each other out when we can. Between all of us here I'm sure you'll be able to find whatever figs you need. As for the Kendalls I have one(soon to be 2). I'd be more than happy to trade you one for the Gagne variant or even sell you it for cost if I have to. Also I'm not sure what you collect but all of us here collect ceratin lines which makes it easier for us to help each other out. Here's a quick rundown(hopefully I get this right)...

Guys, I feel left out, I don't think that I got an official welcome like Steve. J/K, anyway Steve, I too live on the northside and this is the best breakdown I can give you:

Gamestops: The one on 45 and west rd seems to get stuff first. The one on 1960 across from the bookstop is ok, but can be shaky about actually putting out variants. The ones on 1960 close to 59 are pretty cool.

Walmarts: Very hard to peg. The one close to 249 and the 45/west location appear to get the most stuff but can be kinda late compared to the ones on 1960 and in Spring.

Target: Waste of time.

P.S. I collect most of the sports, but focus mostly on NFL and MLB.

The NFL figures are what got me hooked but I do like MLB and some NBA. I am trying to collect all NFL figures and some MLB and NBA. So far ,I bought 2 cases of series 4 NFL off ebay (did pretty well, 1st case had a black Vick, 2nd a Saints Williams), so I have extra's from that set to trade. In my effort to collect other NFL series I ordered a M. Brunell and T. Gonzalez
from Amazon for about $10.99 a piece. Imagine my surprise when I opened the package and had the Brunell, but instead of T. Gonzalez I got a 49ers Rice! Somebody had put a Gonzalez bar code sticker on the Rice Variant by mistake. I am currently in pursuit of the 4 remaining series 5 figs I need,

I do not have any NFL 1 yet and only have Brunell from Series 2.
I also would like to get MLB Oswalt and Berkman at some point ( I am a homer and I guess a lot of you probably are too, as I have never seen these 2 Figs on the shelf).

Welcome to the boards Houston Newbies. One piece of advice: Everyone tries to help everyone here. DO NOT GET GREEDY. If we keep this an honest trading community, then everyone will get what they want. This is not a problem now, but when NFL comes out, if we work as a "team", less of the NFL6 and 7 variants from Houston will wind up on eBay and in 2nd Hand stores. If we keep them in the community, they are 1-for-1 trades or at cost. Not a novel idea, but a damn good one.

Well I just got back from picking up the figs I had on hold. I had a nice little surprise waiting for me when I when to get the A's Giambi. When I got to the store I looked over all the MLB 5 to make sure they hadn't over-looked anything. Well they had, there was a Hunter variant sitting right in front just waiting for me. I probably would've over looked it to if it wasn't for the huge 40 I noticed on the wall. So now I can add a Hunter to the list of variants/chase Eddie and I were able to pick up. Not to shabby of a list if I do say so myself :D

Also on the idea of a quick meet this weekend. I talked to Matt earlier today and he said he's cool with this Saturday about 1 or 2, same goes for Eddie and myself. Again, this isn't going to be anything fancy, just a quick 30 minute meet or so to swap figs and to introduce ourselves to anyone we haven't met yet. I'm thinking about just meeting up at a Hooter's or someplace like that. We could even do it in a parking lot for all I care because like I said I don't plan on being there to long. The next one will be a little more organized. Anyone else have any ideas?

Steve-I'll officially break you into the "Houston Ring" and take you up on the Gagne/Kendall trade. As for how we do it, normally the people involved meet somewhere in the middle(I'm in Stafford) or if there'a a meet coming up we do it there. No need to go the mail route since we're in Houston. Meeting up saves both time and money. Please lmk what you want to do ;)

Lastly, to elaborate on what Matt said about the ring. It was created to help out other Houston SP collector's and try to keep the variants/chase out of Joe Scalpers hands. We all treat each other fair in our dealings. I think it's safe to say that the five of us that have been here the longest have become friends through sp's and will continue to be so smile.gif DO NOT BECOME GREEDY because it will only hender your trading within the community. What we've been doing has been working since day 1, let's keep it that way :D

what's up houston...wanted to post my finds from yesterday...started at the Gamestop at baybrook mall and got a A's/Giambi & a Twins/Hunter...then went to the Gamestop in Pasadena...they had a Grey/Bonds & a Red/Lowe...i left them there...so whoever needs it...the race is on!...then i stopped back by the TRU at almeda mall and got a Philly/Shilling...& a Grey/Tejada...a white/kendall was there also...i left it...so it should still be there...the other TRU are whipped out...(Santa fe's, Baybrook, & Baytown)...the EB at baybrook mall had a Grey/Tejada(dented)...and a white/kendall...still there also...(i guess Steve's idea (texas33) that the Grey/tajada is a wal-mart exclusive goes up in flames right their)...anyway...just letting my fellow houstonian's where some variants are...

I'll admit, I did get a little greedy :( and I apoligize to steve, I should have done the favor for you on the gagnes I had, I have had very few varients but I was wanting 1 specific fig and you guys know what it is, but I'll say to the board now, it won't happen again...As you guys know I'm an opener, I only try to get the Vars to trade for figs that I will open, I figure why waste a var when I can trade it for other reg figs I want or need to open.

Side note,
what is a good time frame on a trade possibly gone bad before I flame his ass on the board?? This would be my first gone bad. background-- Trade is for Wht/Grn Favre and Reg Favre for my Grey Gagne and Reg Tejada(yellow Bill) we agreed to ship Last Tues 2nd, I shipped UPS so I know for sure he got his figs on Monday. He has not returned emails nor provided delv confirm like he said he would. I did check references and did get the thumbs up from multiple boardmembers. give me your .02

Hi everyone, welcome to the thread to those of you who have recently posted....a couple comments about a few of the latest posts...
Steve M. (Damasher)...I can definitely help you with a Berkman and a Bettis. I have them in my "safe"....(I refer to my x-tra figs as being in a safe, 'cause I have class "B" trade material compared to Eddie (nme), who keeps his in a "vault". ;)
Also, just yesterday I posted that I have been looking when I can but unable to find variant MLB for you MLB guys...well, stopped by the GS on 1960 (across from Bookstop) the one LAGoldenboy (sorry, didn't catch your name) referred to as shaky about putting out variants...anyway, went by at lunch, Mgr said they might get them today. Went back on my way home, and saw 11 figs sitting on counter behind the desk. Mgr appears from back room. I say "Hi, I see you got you MLB in"...Yeah, he says what figure are you looking for? Of course, I asked about the Schilling...he flips thru the figs on counter very quickly...at the same time, I can see the blue part of the Hunter variant...."no, but I think I have a Schilling over here" he says, and of course it was his reg. I explained that wasn't the newest one, the new series had him in a Phillies uni, etc...then I ask if I can look at the rest of the figs. Hesitantly, he agrees, and begins SLOWLY stocking them on the pegs...he leaves 3 on the back counter including, you guessed it the Hunter..."these are just duplicates" he tells me..."Really? I say, and since they were on the end of the counter where I could reach them, I pick them up..."Sir, Sir! I'll get them, excuse me" he says....I hand him the reg Bonds and Soriano and asked the girl at the register to ring me up. The guy was pissed, I could tell. I think he was stashing a figure, because he stuttered and stammered when I inquired if he knew what the 12th fig was! I think he didn't realize the Hunter was a variant until I got there. Anyway, I have it now. Also bought a Tejada with a yellow bill (is this just an issue like the Hunter red/white numbers, or is the yellow bill considered a variant by the way?).

Anyway, long story, but I had to tell it. For those of you that are just joining us, please take a look-see at my "trade-list" on page 23 of the thread...I know there's nothing spectacular on it, but let me know if I can help.

I think somebody most have done a "North side sweep" yesterday. Today,I checked out the 2 GS in Humble, 2 GS on FM1960 West, GS in Spring and TRU Willowbrook and Humble. All have new figs, nobody had any variants or Kendalls. Woodlands GS does not have any new MLB out on the shelves yet. I am a little hesitant to ask if they have them but have not put them out yet as i got "lectured" at the Spring GS. I was told how all these "old men" come in buy up the variants and all the reg. figures are left to rot on the shelves. Also if no one buys the regulars they wont be able to order new ones. I felt like saying if you did not charge 2 bucks more than the WalMart across the street I might by my regular figs there.
Anyway, Steve I would like to do the Varaint Gagne for Kendall thing. I am going to San Francisco Friday thru Sunday so I guess it would have to be next week sometime.I see we are not to close you in Stafford me in Spring, however I do have to got the I-10 Barker Cypress area on Monday nights for Soccer. Would that be any closer?
Vikes Guy- What do you want for the Bettis and Berkman? $$$ or figs. I don't have a whole lot to offer in the way of variants yet.

I take Beltway 8 to I-10 so if it is easier we could just meet somewhere along the beltway. Unfortunately, I am firewalled from this site at my job so i will be posting either early morning or evenings. Let me know if you think Monday is a possibility or not. KevinKevin: No need to apologize here man. I do not think you got greedy. You let all of us know that you needed a White Favre, and none of us could help you. If that's the case, do whatever you can to get your White Favre. I don't think anyone here in the community would fault you for that. In fact, some of us (especially myself) could probably work harder with our connections to hook you up on your quest. Like I said (and I'm not trying to be community dictator, just posting my thoughts on how this thing should work ;) ), this communtiy is to help each other out so we don't have to pay HUGE mark-ups on eBay or 2nd hand retail stores for the figs we need. It makes sense to trade 1-for-1 or sell at cost when figs first come out. However, if Kevin were to walk in to some hidden/off-the-wall Gamestop and find a Black Vick, and didn't want it, I don't think any of us here would expect him to sell it for $11.99 or trade for 1 variant. Right? Anyway, its cool Kevin. No need to apologize. Do whatever it takes to help your collection first, then if you get the opportunity with some good finds and you are not in need, help out some of us. I know you've already done this many times over. You're one of the Good Guys!

BTW-Give your trade about 1-1.5 weeks before flaming him. It could be that he lied about sending to see if you'd send stuff like you said. Once he gets yours, he might mail off yours. (I hope that is the case) That does not make him right however. If the trade works out, just note him as an "iffy" trader in your Trade Log. Hope that suggestion helps.

Steve: My baseball practice/scrimmage is at 10am-12pm at Bear Creek way up off I-10. Can we try and set the Mini-Swap Meet at 1pm if that is cool for everybody? Regi, just so happens I was working in that shopping complex in the Woodlands today, and stopped by the TRU and Gamestop after work at about 4:30...no Giambi or Kendall...and I was going to go there during lunch and didn't!! Oh well...

Regarding meeting Saturday: The drive to Meyerland isn't too close for me, but I'm willing to do it...but, for the guys up in Spring, that's awfully far...and it sounds like if most everyone can't make it, it sort of defeats the intent of it...

Kevin, my 2 cents on your trade...definitely sounds like you got the better end of that deal, assuming he comes through, especially considering that the yellow bill Tejada is pretty common. Anyway, I'd give it 2 weeks (from original "deal date"), then go on BST and create a post asking him to email you concerning your trade. Then, wait one more week, MAX, and if no response flame the SH*^out of him. The fact that 1.5 weeks have gone by and he does not respond to emails is a warning flag for sure. Good luck man.

Finally!!! My first true succesful outing. After many many empty days I finally was at the right place at the right time. I am the one that picked up the A's Giambi and white Kendall from Woodlands GS. I was there about 3pm and just noticed them sitting on the wall. This is really my first time at getting first dibbs, Ahh, a weight has been lifted!
STEVE - I hope I have not made a rookie mistake of picking up the Kendall when I told you I wanted to trade for yours? I was looking at your trade list and I would still be interested in your Jeff Garcia (and for that matter your Ray Lewis). I am not sure what would be a fair trade from your perspective for the Lewis, just let me know. I still have the Grey Gagne, don't know if that is worth the Garcia or not? It was the IMAX at the AMC/Edwards??? off of I-10 West. The one right as you exit onto I-10 from West Loop 610. There is a sketboard park there and movie theatre. LMK if you do not know what I am talking about.

Admission was $11/ person.

I still need some MLB5 regs fro my set, since I didn't get a case. Those 2 NBA3 variants cost me $37 total ($17 each + tax). Steve, now you have me confused...if I order a "set" from Spawn, how will you get a variant from the set? Dosen't a set refer to a complete set of the regular figs from a series? Or are we talkin a case here? Concerning the extra figures, please email me a list of what you're taking already...it wouldn't make sense for me to have you take duplicates unless we felt you could sell yours and mine possibly...I doubt we have that many that are the same, but I think we should look at that.

Dane-No, no, we're not talking about a case for NHL 5. It's a set, last I heard you won't be able to get them by the case. Every set will come complete with an entire set of a figs and a variant.

As for the extra figs, don't worry about it. We won't know until we try, right? Then again if you want to hold another blue light special outta the back of the Tundra again it's all up to you buddy...lol. Anyways I just compared our lists and all that are dups is the blue Spree, Hunter variant and reg Martin. Everything else is different which is good. That'll give me more variety at the show ;)

I mainly collect only the McFarlane Sportspicks variant/chase piece from all sports. I have lots of the old Starting Lineups, so I've learned to collect only the scarcer pieces and my favorite regular pieces.
I have some of the Series 4 & 5 baseball variants for sale or possible trade: Hinske (white), Ichiro (gray), Morris (gray), Bonds (gray), Hunter (Twins), and Kendall (gray). Some have sales/trades pending. Also, I have extras of the regular issues of Berkman & Frances. Looking for Gasol (either), Frances (blue), Stockton (purple) and most any football variant.

Can't remember the name of the street that runs behind Rice football stadium, but I take that to Shepard. Once you get to the 59 Overpass, there will be a very small shopping center on your right. I'd prefer not to have to pick it up for you, as I am low on funds right now, and don't want to juice the credit card. However, if you live way far away, I may be able to swing something for a boardmember. He has had 2 Chrebets there for near 6 months, so they aren't going anywhere I don't believe. Well guys, sooner or later I knew they'd show face. I'm referring to the MLB 4 regs I bought for Matt a while back. I was cleaning house yesterday and I found them in my computer desk(the one place I never look). I tore both floors of this house apart with no luck then I find them right under my nose, and I wasn't even trying...figures. I swear my memory is getting shorter everyday. No worries though, these will soon be turned into MLB 5 that Matt still needs so all is good :rolleyes:

On another note, both of my NFL trades were sent this week. Awesome trades I might add to. In total I'm getting close to 30 figs, both sealed and open. It's mostly older NFL but other figs are in the lots as well. I can't wait to break those boxes open :D

Guys, I collect NFL predominately, like most of you, with a sprinkling of NBA and MLB, which I so far have limited to Texas players, (except for the Rangers, could care less about them). I have just very recently completed my NFL set of regs, Series 1-5, with help from some of the guys on this thread ;) . I still might be interested in trades for NFL regs anyway. I have just 4 NFL variants (Bettis, Manning, James, and Brady) so I am also interested in any possible trades for other variants.

Rejoice, fellow Houstonians! For I have returned from the land of perennial 70 degree weather -- the SF/Bay Area.

Just a few notes:
Called GS today and the employee told me a general July release date for NBA 4. She sounded apathetic about helping me so she could've just pulled that answer out of her arse :rolleyes: .

Was at the Greenridge/Westheimer TRU yesterday and overheard an employee explain to a customer looking for JLA Wonder Woman that they usually get shipments in Tuesday and stock Wed. morning. Different from the Swee****er TRU which gets stuff in Thurs. and stocks Fri. morning. Hope this helps the peeps in that area (if ya'll didn't know already, that is :D ).

Does anyone know another retail store selling the Neo Chateau set for less then GS's $24.99 sticker price? It's a tad on the expensive side. Might wait until my comic store gets theirs in since I can get 10-15% off.

Finally, I collect a little bit of everything but I'm mainly an NBA guy. My collection breaks down as:
NBA: 12 figs
MLB: 9 figs
NFL: 4 figs
NHL: 1 fig
& Other assorted figs
Zero variants (yesss!)

Well, the Cubs Maddux is real. So you guys that know me, know I'm a huge Cubs fan. Next to any Dallas Cowboys repaint/chase, I would just about do anything for a Cubs repaint/chase. So, for anyone who happens to find a Cubs Maddux, rest assured you'll be well taken care of when it comes time for me to repay you (assuming your willing to trade it to me of course!)

Well good news everyone! I got a call from HPD today that my Sequoia has been recovered and is currently awaiting my arrival at the impound :D I was going to get it tonight but Suzy said I should wait until tomorrow so we can check it for any damages that might have occurred. I'm sooo glad to hear that news. It's not over between Sterling McCall and myself however. They're still going to get an earful from me next week :mad:
