What's going on fellas?! So who's hot so far for MLB 7 finds? Out of 2 GS's I've gotten a Johnson repaint, Edmonds repaint and a Zito variant(all of which are already spoken for).

Also just got off the phone with my manager friend at GS and he told me he's been bombarded with calls about NFL 6. He said the phone has been ringing off the hook since yesterday. So here's fair warning to all of you, be on the lookout when it hits because if you're not there when it comes out you're gonna be s.o.l.! Like I told Kevin earlier today, I've got my GS phone list ready to go so you can bet my phone will get a good workout come NFL 6 day :D

I didn't come up with any MLB7 for anyone...if you're not right there when the brown truck pulls up, forget it. Does GS get UPS on Saturdays? If not, I'll be SOL if it's Monday, Monday's are work days for me. Oh well, I'll get all the regs eventually, I only have about 4 or 5 variants from the 5 NFL series so far, so if I get zero or one for NFL 6 I'll live.

NFL 7:
I've got 5 Julius Peppers available at $25 DLVD anywhere in the continental United States. We all know how pricey the defensive players can get so jump on ths deal before it's to late!

NBA 5:
I still have 5 Mings and 3 Lebrons left for pre-sell. If Francis was any indication then Yao will be nearly impossible to find locally at retail. He's $18 DLVD to anyone in the Houston area. As for James, he's $20 DLVD anywhere in the continental U.S. I only have 3 of those left.

NHL 6:

I have quite literally hit 6-7 different Gamestops everyday this week and I have not even seen as much as 1 freekin NFL 6 fig. I was told by 2 GS that they have not received their cases but when they do they are on "reserve" for specific customers. i didnt think they could do that? The other 4-5 stores claim to have not gotten them yet. Do you think they are BSing me and are just holding them or do i really believe they have not come in?

So who found what today? Tell ya what I scored...absolutely NOTHING! :mad: I should've but thanks to the temp at the GS I had my case reserved at I didn't get a damn thing. Apparently no one told him I had the case reserved so when he got it in last night he put it on the pegs.

Oh well, what can you do right? No use crying over spilled milk. I did okay with the case I did get a hold of and am still waiting on my cases to show up from the distributor ;)

So what do you guys think of getting a meet going this weekend now that fb has hit? Everything should be in by the weekend so everyone should have some trade bait to bring along. We haven't had one in a while so I think it's about time to have another. Also I know all of us Houston guys haven't met each other so it'd be a good time to do that. Unless anyone has any objections here's my suggestion...

Okay, i'm going to quit my *****ing now. I had a good day today, was present for 6 NFL 6 case openings at 4 different GS's today. Got some great figs, although never saw a variant Bledsoe, Harrington, Alstott, or Holmes in any of them.
Also had an uncomfortable experience running into a probable scalper. i am in the store going through a freshly opened case, when he comes running in the store out of breathe and tells me i should let him have some of the variants. I told him as i was there 1st I was going to take 2 of the 3 and let him have 1. I give him his choice between a red Emmitt and black Deuce. However, he wanted the Falcons favre. i said I was keeping that and he could pick from the other 2. He was not real happy but agreed. He then said, "I bet you have cleaned out all of the stores around here" and wanted to know what figures I had. I told him I had only been to 1 other GS so far and had picked up 5 figs. He obviously did not believe me. I thought I was doing a cool thing in letting him have 1 of the variants, thinking he might be a boardmember as he said he was on Spawn.com, but when he asked me later if i was on ebay i realized who Iw as dealing with...I think. I apologize if this was one of you guys but i did not get that impression.
ANYWAY... I have some extra variants and am looking to trade for Alstott, Bledsoe and Harrington Variants.

I started to go back to look at your initial post that you keep referring to, then I decided I really didn't care enough about it and stopped. It is quite apparent based on your previous response to nme that this IS your job, you scalp figures and other collectible items on ebay for a living. You are proud of what you do, and you put alot of "work" into it. You are happy with your chosen profession. Your calendar revolves around being at TRU every morning at 9:30 am, right after popping into Walmart first...Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc, etc. There are no bosses to report to, no deadlines to be met, just the challenge of being the first one to get to the SP's, hotwheels, etc. Apparently you are good at your job, it seems to provide you with a comfortable living, and without having to answer to "the man". For that, I salute you. Most people can only dream of the type of successful career you have built for yourself.
So, with that, I'll leave this alone, and I'll tip my hat to you for acheiving the American dream of true entrepreneurialism...out.

P.S. I went to a TRU after work today to pick up a reg I need for a pending trade, and hanging right there on the pegs was a chase, a white Rolen. Guess Merlin took the day off today. If any of you guys are interested in that fig, let me know.

Everyone: Ok guys, I have an announcement. Some of you may know (I know Steve [Texas33] knows) that in the past, I've debated and teetered on the thought of quitting this little hobby and selling my collection. Well, the day has come that I am definitely going the route of the former. I am about to have a baby, and I have many more added expenses coming. I looked at my Quicken breakdown of my spending habits, and realized that I'd make it much easier on my family and I if I curtailed my collecting. The recent releases of MLB7 and NFL6 have taught me something. I just do not have the time nor energy to get out and find some of these figs. Some of you freaks take off of work, camp out like you were going to buy Super Bowl tickets, and rape these stores of the figs. More power to you I guess, but I am not going to do it, and it isn't worth it (I should have learned my lessons with SLUs). It is crazy that I got most of my MLB6 because Steve called every GS in Houston while Eddie ran around like a chicken with his head cut off ;) just to beat Johnny scalper to chases. Thanks for doing that guys!

Don't know if I'm selling my collection yet. Feel free to post some ideas of what my collection is worth though. I basically have NFL1-5 COMPLETE (minus No Helmets, and NFL 1 & 2 Regulars are loose) and MLB 1-5 Complete, plus various MLB6 chases.

If anyone had anything for me (like Kevin [Carolina Davis] and Collin [Phillies Rolen and PS Sosa]), I'm going to have to back out. Sorry about that, but I just do not have the money to make any buys, even at cost. Got to start saving. Steve, same for you on the MLB7 and Seattle A-Rod. Thanks to everyone for your help and generosity to me! I'll still check in from time to time, and will look occasionally for figs I just can't live without (mainly Cubs and Cowboys). Thanks!Seems (naturally)most are after the chases and retros....regarding "rarity", from what I have seen, there appears to be pretty even distribution of the regs in the cases, many having full sets, unlike some of the series recently in other sports (ex. 5 Ichiros). If I had to go out on a limb, it seems Bledsoe and Gannon are a little more plentiful.

I must have missed something. I went by my local GS today and notice they have new NFL6 in. I had called yesterday and my hook up told me thay had not received anything. He told me today that they had come in yesterday afternoon after he left and another employee put them on the shelves. Needless to say all the good ones were gone. Went to a few other GS and most had anywhere from 2-5 NFL figs on pegs. I was told by 2 that they got them yesterday and one said a couple days ago. Did anybody else know about this? Hopefully you guys scored on wave 2, because somebody sure did on the north side!
I am only a few figs away from scoring a complete set. Need White Bledsoe, Red Holmes and reg White Emmitt with White gloves. I have extras on most other NFL 6 regs and some variants/Retros. Also scored 3 new NHL 2 packs and left 2 on the shelves if anyone interested. Well, I'd like to thank my fellow Houston area McFarlane collectors. You've done a great job of cleaning out the area. Just for fun (and in hopes of finding any McFarlane variants of any sport), I spent today going to all of the Game Stops, Electronic Boutiques, Toys-R-Us, Targets, Wal-Marts, etc. that I could work into a day's travel. (About 200 miles.) Nada, none, zilch, nothing, not even the smell of a variant to be found. You've cleaned out the whole area. Maybe, just maybe, after all of the waves of series 6 football have arrived and been bought, and all of you have what you need and want, and if anyone has any extra, maybe someone will want to do some selling or trading. I hope so!

Well I finally had some luck swing my way. I stopped by the TRU on Westheimer @ Greeniridge Friday to see if they had any of the new 12in NFL. As most of you know this one has sucked the past few months. Anyhow no 12in NFL(surprise, surprise). I did a quick glance at the SP display...nothing, looked around a bit then stopped by SP's again one more time. What do I see hiding behind a MLB 5 fig? A package that read Alstott...***?...pull it out and it turns out to be a white one :D
So apparently they had NFL 6. Why they bought the rest and left the variant is beyond me. So a heads-up all of you that used to frequent that store. It might be wise to pop in every so often from now on. I'm sure they'll be putting out more NFL as well as the new 12in figs soon ;)

No, I unfortunately am not that rat bastage that has the GameStop manager as a friend. I always get to the Woodlands GS with 9 figs on the pegs, as it has been picked through. The Conroe GS doesn't even carry figs anymore, because "they don't sell for some reason." I don't even hunt to sell them, I collect NFL, MLB, and a handful of NBA (Garnett, Francis, Duncan, Carter (purple), TMac). I used to sell them but have come to regret it. I sure do miss my purple Culpepper. It was the first chase I ever found at retail. I sold it to a boardmember earlier this year. Sigh. We should trade sometime...whatcha got? I need some older NFL primarily. Shoot me an e-mail and we'll talk about our poor SP distribution in our area. :) Later!

So what's up kids?! The family and I went to the air show today. That's been an annual event for me since I was a little boy. My parents used to take me every year so now it's my turn to start the tradition with my boys:D As I telling my wife today though, when my boys are taking their kids to it the event it will probably be called the Space Show and they'll be going to watch space ships. Long time no post fellas, but I have BIG news. Angie delivered our baby boy, Tyler, this past Sunday. He is completely healthy, as is Mom. We got home yesterday, and are glad to be out of the hospital. Little to no sleep (please, those of you with kids, tell me nights get better :eek: ) at all these first 3 nights. But we are both overjoyed and excited. Tyler's birth took the sting out of what my Cubbies did to me this year, but my Cowboys are still rolling. Don't be surprised when they beat the Bucs this Sunday (it will be Tyler's first game to watch with Pops :D ). Guys I picked up the 12" Williams I ordered from Steve, Texas 33 (Sportsfigs.com), and it just so happened to be the shiny metallic finish as was depicted when the photos were first released on this board. I was expecting the duller finish after having seen them at TRU's...what a pleasant surprise! Killer looking figure, I must say. Now I just have to decide what to do with this monstrous thing...

Just a quick note, while I was out working today I stopped by the Spencer Hwy GS. I wasn't expecting to find anything but I got lucky and found a white Alstott sitting in the bin. There were two other figs missing and when I asked what they were the mgr told me it was a red Emmitt and black Favre :eek: For those of you on that side of town I'd keep my eyes peeled on that one because he also told me the location was only a month old.

I haven't seen any NFL 7 or NHL 6, but I did see where GameStop on Wallisville in North Shore had the Nascar for anyone interested in that.

I live on the north side of town (The Woodlands/Magnolia area), but I frequently visit the south part of town (since my kids live down there). I just checked yesterday, and there was no signs of NFL 7, or the new Thomas two pack at TRU in the Woodlands, or at either Walmarts up here. If I find anything, I'll be sure to post where.

There were a lot of Thomas/Mccaffrey boxed sets in the Pasadena and Clear Lake area WalMarts. It seemed like every WalMart I went to over there had about 10 to 15 of them. I just hope that they dont take up the space that Series 7 is supposed to be occupying.

UN-*** BELIEVABLE!!!!

I was off today, and went to the gas station to get gas for my lawnmower...got a wild-hair, and decided to venture up the road to the WalMart that has had nothing but ancient MLB and NHL junk warming the pegs for months. Round the corner into the toy area, and there was a "toy pallet" still in the aisle at 9:30 am...spotted a McFarlane case right away on the bottom corner...started looking for an employee to ask to get it out, but said to hell with that after finding no one and pulled it out far enough to see that it had already been opened, I was disappointed, figuring for sure I'd find 9 to 11 regs in there. Peeled back the top, first thing I see is a Rams jersey and a Texans helmet...so, I pulled out the chase Sehorn and the BLUE Carr :eek: ...then, I spin the box around and find a White Favre!!!! Just for grins, I snagged the reg Peppers out of there as well and headed to the checkout...total time in store, 10 minutes. Pleased with my good luck, I drive 10 minutes up the road to a KB in a mall, and was there when they opened at 10 am...hanging on the pegs, get this...2 white Portis's, and 2 white Shockey's!!! Also, I am NOT going to collect these, but bought a Dale Jr fig, (orange jumpsuit) because it seems I've read a post or two that these might be tough to find.
Anyway, 7 CHASE FIGS at retail in one day, defintiely a record for me!
Having found these, I have now decided to, for the first time, get all regs and chase pieces for a series, and am looking to trade with the local boardies....

OK, Houston, I need some info from most of you. I don't know if most of you are into automobiles or not, but you all need to know about the Autorama that's happening at the Reliant Center this weekend, starting tomorrow. The reason I mention this is the fact that not only is it a "car" show, but that there will also be lots of "automobilia" dealers there buying, selling and trading auto related items.
Which brings me to my point. There will also be dealers there with all kinds of collectibles. Yes, there will be dealers with McFarlane Sportspicks! Last year there were at least a half dozen. The McFarlane collectibles are much more in demand now, so there should be plenty there to deal with. I'm going to take a box or two of variants with me in hopes of doing some trading. (I don't sell, just trade.) So, how about it? Anyone else thinking of checking it out? Most of my pieces will be baseball, but that's OK, since there's some of the baseball variants that I need, also.

Went to the 1st Colony GS today and the blk Lemieux was still there so I picked it up. As I was checking out I noticed something didn't look "right" about the SP's hanging there. Upon closer inspection I realized the Carter I staring at was a variant also. So I scored the Mario and Anson...best day I've had in a long whileSeeing as how NHL is my main focus it couldn't have been much better ;)

As for the NBA 5, I didn't realize that was hitting tomorrow. Not sure if I will or not. My oldest son's b-day is right around the corner and I still need to go Christmas shopping. Double whammy in the same month...not good :confused:

I think that fair. He doesn't even come one per case. I paid $12.99 for them. I also spent around $200-$300 in gas on the trip. Even if you got one off of Epay, you pay almost $20 with shipping. How is this not fair?

That's like me saying I went to Gamestop yesterday and got a regular Carr and then I went and got a couple of Big Macs, so I need 20 dollars to cover my eating expenses as well. All you are doing is trying to make a profit and pay for your expenses(gas) that you were going to be paying already whether you got any extra Carrs or not.
Everyone spends gas money searching for mcfarlanes. I'm sure you didn't go much farther out of your way than you normally would on this cross country trip to come up with these.

That's just a tad high when I, or anyone, could have easily gotten 25 regular Carrs for 10 dollars a piece the last 3 weeks.

But hey if you get someone to pay it, more power to you...

Hello Houstonians...I am in need of your assistance. My best friend, which I have know for nearly 18 years now will be turning 26 this weekend. I've been overwhelmed at work and Christmas shopping and ran across some NBA 5 while shopping tonight. My buddy would soil himself if he knew there was a Yao figure and would more than likely proudly display it next to the Stevie Franchise that I gave him last year. Can anybody help me get a Yao reg for my best friend? I'm willing to meet you halfway if shipping is not an option, but priority mail would do just fine, too. Well since we all know what Dane scored today how did everyone else do with NBA 5 today? I got a Lebron variant and regular Ming.

For those of you that haven't seen any NBA 5 here's a heads-up for ya. I noticed that the case I hit today had 4 James' in it with one being the variant and also noticed that there wasn't any Allens. I talked with a few other Houston collectors today as well and from what they said and what I can gather Lebron is abundantly in every case so you shouldn't have any problem finding him. As for Allen, none were seen in any of the GS cases so I'm guessing he's the short printed one of the bunch...maybe :confused: graemlins/spawnorb.gif

Toy store here in Taiwan had some NBA 5 regs -- Yao, Webber, Nash, Shareef, Marbury, Wallace, and Allen for 600NT each, which is like $18. I've got a question for you guys. While I was out working today I stopped in a building on Hwy 90 that was being renovated into a Flea Market(like the one on Hwy 6). It's actually the same company doing it. I asked the guy for some info on how much the rent was, availability, etc. It turns out that the space is very affordable so that's not a problem. The terms of the "lease" are good to.

However this is what I was wondering. Do you all think it would be worth it to set up shop there? The online thing is doing well but I was thinking this way I'd have an actual physical locale as well. Now I know it's not an actual store in the traditional sense but since it's only a part-time thing it could give me a little boost in sales and exposure. Plus it'd make it easy for all you guys whenever we do trades and such.

Any input you all can offer would be appreciated. I want to hear them all, pros and cons :confused:

texas33, thanks for the welcome. the bernie is in kb toys at westoaks mall (westhiemer & hwy 6). it was still there as of today at around 4:00. i stop in at the eb games and kb toys there about twice a week just to check to see what they have.i can probably swing by there tomorrow and check if ya need. also, im looking for a griffey jr. if anyone has an extra.
kb toys had a vladamir,they also had a manny ramirez in the allstar uni.

well sportsfigs.com, i say that would be a pretty good idea, depending on exactly where at on hwy 90...Well I guess it's a good idea either way, but the location only affects my personal affection of the idea. I think you would probably get a lot more business that way. I can speak for myself here only. I just don't ever really think about buying from online dealers or even take the time to see what they have I guess. But, if there was a physical location...sure, why not drop in while I'm out looking for mcfarlanes. It's always good to get another option out there, particularly one that is focused so much on sportspicks..
