Yeah-That's what I thought Texas. But I went in on a Monday when NBA1 came out and got to crack open a case. Got a Black Iverson (I guess he is always black, I mean jersey of course, lol) variant. So who knows? I'll be checking anyway.

Texas-When is this Tri-Star Convention, Where, What times, and how much does it cost to get in? Also, how do I know where your table is? I may come out.

Other Houston Board members, if you plan on going, let's see if we can arrange a time to all be there. We can all meet and possibly do some trading if you bring any trade bait? What do you think?

Tri-Star is going to be July 12-14th at the GRB Convention Center. I'm not sure what the admission is. Go here, www.tristarproductions.com (http://www.tristarproductions.com) , that should help you with any questions you have about the show.

As for how you'll know me. I'll be set up with my friend Bryan and will have nothing but hockey cards at our table. More than likely I'll probably be wearing my black Dallas Stars cap as well. They're here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just picked up a BLC Piazza repaint and the Manny Ramirez regular that I did not get in my case. Complete set, with 2 variants down (Grey Maddux and BLC Piazza) and 6 to go!! I left all the other regs. I know for sure that Gamestop on Holcombe Blvd and the Gamestop in the Woodlands got them in. So I found some MLB2 today (err..yesterday Central time) (7/03) at the TRU at I-45 and West road and the TRU at Bunker Hill.

My beef is...

Why didn't you guys who beat me there leave me at least ONE that I wanted?!

Hehehe. Just kidding. TONS of Jeters out there. You could have a Jeter decorated Christmas tree if you wanted.

No prob Texas! I have a bit of a beef to "report" as well though. When I call the Gamestop in The Woodlands, I ask the guy if they have MLB2 in. He says "Yes" and proceeds to tell me they just opened (as in when I rang their phone). I ask him to read me their case assortment, so he does. He proceeds to read off about 6 different figs, but never mentions Jeter, Clemens, Griffey?? I then ask him what the rest were. And he says that is all. I straight up ask him if there was a BLC Exclusive in the case, and he pauses for a long time, then says no. I then ask him about variants, he says none. Now I know we've seen reports of cases with no variants and no BLC, but this seemed odd. Why? Because he then proceeds to tell me that they didn't get any Griffey, Bonds, Jeter, or Clemens in their case, which I know is a crock!!!! Just a vent. Read into it as you will!

Anybody have any more sightings? I've only seen MLB2 at Gamestop and TRU. Any K-Mart, Wal-Mart, or KB yet? Let everyone know!

I have a suggestion also. I am a collector of NFL and MLB SportsPics. I collect complete sets from both lines, both regulars and variants. With the competition in town, I believe we board members should "band" together so to speak. Maybe we can start a thread where we all post our wants and haves, that way when one of us finds something (that we ourselves don't need of course), we can trade with each other. Kind of a way to keep it in Houston, before taking it to the B/S/T board or eBay. What do you guys think? Should I start a thread like that?

Also, who all plans on going to Tri-Star? I recommend as many of us try to go around the same time so maybe we can meet each other face to face. I've never met another board member, and I'd kinda like to see some of your mugs, you know, conect a name with a face. Texas has a booth, so maybe we could all meet there at a certain date and time? Post your thoughts on the above!

Also, I'm looking to sell 3 of my MLB2 figs from my case. I have Griffey, Jeter, and Clemens. If you need these 3, don't buy them in the store please!!!! Help me off-set the cost of my case. I'm selling all 3 for $100 . . . . . . just kidding! All 3 for $30, or $10/piece. I'd prefer someone buy all 3 if possible though.

So I hit 2 stores yesterday in the Sugarland area and what do I see before me, MLB2 http://www.spawn.com/board/ubb/smile.gif There were 2+ just busted cases at the TRU I hit and 1 at the Game Stop. I picked up 2 Manny's and 2 A-Rod's from TRU(I looked but no variants) and picked up another Manny from the GS. Remembering what you said Gravy I asked the clerk at GS when they get their cases in and she said usually early or middle of the week.

AS for the Houston thread, I like that idea. It'll give us a chance to finally meet each other and save all of us fundage on shipping elsewhere http://www.spawn.com/board/ubb/wink.gif So I say start the thread. Well I'm off to hit more stores I'll let you all know what I find later on this evening...See ya!

After asking for a case every day this past week at TRU on 45 and bay area, a guy finally found it for me today. Case break down was

3 Bonds-1 BLC
2 griffey
2 Jeter
and one of evry one else except manny.

dont know what ya'll think but I think i GOt the best variant in the series also got both griffey's 1 for me 1 for my g/f and a jeter

Hey guys. I live down here on Webster right off of Nasa Rd 1, and I normally hit the TRU near Baybrook, EB in Baybrook Mall, Gamestop at Baybrook, Wal*Mart on El Dorado and TRU at Almeda.

Found a grey Nomar at Baybrook TRU last week, a grey Nomar (traded for white Bonds) at EB last week, a white Manny & BLC Piazza at the Almeda TRU last week, and a fresh case of regs at the El Dorado Wal*Mart a couple of days back.

Any finds in the Houston or the surrounding areas lately anyone? I was at Katy Mills Mall yesterday and didn't see anything. Although I was surprised to see a MOC Theodore and 2 MOC Sundins on the rack.

I haven't found anything in my part of town(Sugarland/Stafford) yet though:(

Gamestop on Holcombe had a fresh case of NFL4 and MLB3. I was the first CUSTOMER to go through them, and each case had only 11 figs. When I told the yahoos behind the counter I didn't want anything, they kept making sly comments like "Didn't find anything you want eh?" So I guess they jack the variants out of the cases there too now. Anyway, a complete set of NFL4 is there except for the Terrell Owens. He must have been the variant, because I sure as hell didn't buy him!

I hit four GameStops yesterday after work... all along 290. Every store had one case of MLB and NFL. All of the variants were gone. Either the employees are pulling them, or someone on the northwest side had a hell of a toy run yesterday!

wwffantx always gets all that there is in Houston when they come out. That is all he does. Pisses me off but oh well. More power to him. Hope he enjoyed the high priced gas and the wasted day. Does he even work? Unfortunately for him, these figs are over-produced now, so I let him have the first run, then I'll swoop in and complete my collection on the next waves. Just like MLB1 and 2.

wwffantx-I started this thread. And when I did, the intention was for the Houston people to unite. Scout their area and grab the variants. Then we post what we find and we trade. Kind of a community you see. Between the workers who horde them and you though, this concept has not got very far. If anyone wants to pool resources so we can aid in helping other collectors, LMK. I'd rather help out a Houstonite in a trade, even if they don't have something I need, than buy all the variants in Houston and either trade outside the Houston area, or worse, put on eBay! I'm just venting a little. But seriously, if you guys want to zone areas and then we help each other out, let me know. Texas and I have talked about this already. He is going to help me with NFL4 and MLB3 variants and I will help him with NBA2 and NHL3. Let;s get more of a community thing going and MAKE IT WORK!!!

I usually hit the TRU on Old Spanish Trail and the Gamestop on Holcombe in the Medical Center area. Occasionally will hit Gamestop, EB, and KB in Galleria. LMK if anybody else hits these so we don't overlap and waste time!

I cover the northwest side... 1960 and 290 - Copperfield area. I look for more than just SPs, but I'm hot after the NFL variants. Any word on when Wal-Marts will be getting them? I do have some MLB variants to trade if anyone needs them...

Dude- Don't get me started. I admitted I was angry when I wrote the first post and apologized. If I'm off your "trade list", then fine. I just find it personally funny that you said in a post that you went to Louisiana and bought a complete set of NFL 4 over the long weekend. Then, you hit 12 Gamestops in one day yesterday?? Unbelievable. Am I angry? Jealous? Yes to both. I'm a collector too and would like a shot. That's all I'm saying. Alright guys, as I said yesterday I took my day off today and actually went SP hunting. I live in Stafford so I cover the SW side mainly(Stafford/Sugarland/Missouri City).

All of the stores I went to had new NFL and MLB but no variants or Oswalts. All that is with the exception of the Super Target on Hwy 6 @ 59...not 1 SP in sight. Did they stop carrying them? I must've just missed the variants and Roys at the other stores because I asked a few of the clerks and they said the cases were just put out right before I got there.

Anyways here's a list of the stores I routinely go to...

Well guys, my hunt finally paid of today...somewhat smile.gif I hit some of the stores I didn't go to yesterday and on my last stop I found a regular red Oswalt sitting right there in front(hard find here in Houston). The guy had just put the case out before I got there. The bad thing though was there was NO variant in the case :mad:

When I was paying for it I also noticed a stack of NHL Hitz Prongers and enquired about them. My intention wasn't to get one but after I asked the guy was like, "do you want one?" If it's free, sure. So being a nice guy he threw it in for nothing :D

I found an Owens, 2 Sehorns, and a Roy Oswalt last night at the TRU in Friendswood/Webster off of 45S and Bay Area. They had 2 Rickys and a couple other NFL4s and some MLB3s too, along with a lot of NBA, NHL, and MLB2s. I now see what everyone was saying about Owens' colors being to dark. The red looks like the blood/meat red that is used on Spawn figures and the gold looks to be Antique Gold when it should be Kings(?) Gold. Nice figure, as are the rest of them. That Roy suffers from the same problems as other Roys. Goofed-up chin hair, sideburns, and the facial sculpt looks more like Pedro (I have 2 that look like Pedro). I will try my hand at repainting one of these to fix the problems. Wish me luck...

Well I hit the GS by my work this past Tuesday and was lucky enough to find a Saints Williams! I hit a comic store that previous Saturday out in Pearland and scored a white Owens and blue Vladdy :D

If that wasn't enough my friend who owns a comic/sportscard shop called me yesterday to let me know he got his 2 NFL cases in and has 2 more Saints Williams for me;)

Man, this definitley makes up for my 3 month long dry spell I was having!!! :D

Finally, some good news guys! I went out b-day shopping yesterday for my one of my boys and hit the TRU in Sugarland. Of course I had to hit the SP display, and glad I did to. I found a white Kolzig and another blue Vlad of all things right behind it. I picked up both of them smile.gif

I then went to KB at 1st Colony Mall afterwards There was a brand new case of NFL5 sitting there(put out the night before). Twelve figs and NO variants :mad:
I did however pick up 2 Brady's, Lewis and one of the Thomas's(white mouth piece), left one behind. Also fyi, KB at Katy Mills Mall has NFL 5 smile.gif

All of these except for the Kolzig are up for trade ;)

Well my GS connection just told me that two 49er's Rice have been found at GS's around town. So there's still a little hope that they're out there smile.gif

On another note, he(a GS manager) was holding a case of NFL5 for me. It came in yesterday but he was off. I called today and apparently his employees disregarded the note he left them to NOT put out the case until I got there. I was talking to him from the back room on speaker phone and for some reason they only put out 6 figs...***?! Of the case, only 10 figs remain. Just my luck, someone out there has my variant because the employees didn't listen to their manager! :mad:

Oh well, what can you do? ....nothing except wait for the next case I suppose :(

Well I finally scored an NBA variant yesterday(purple Allen), thanks to a fellow board member. He gave it to me for cost, $10.

Also, it appears the TRU's have recevied their 2nd wave of NHL3. Hit two of them Wednesday and they both had tons of it sitting on the pegs. I scored 3 blue Bures at the one on Westheimer(@ Greenridge).

OK, I had absolutely jack squat to do today for about 4 hrs. so I hit 3 TRU's, a Wal-Mart, a Target, 2 Gamestops and Voyager Toys. And all I had to show for it was an AOTC Yoda I've been looking for.

No Francis anywhere! AGH! How frustrating. No Jerry Rice either. There was a Griffey but the hand was broken off.

Ya'll wakin' up too early and takin' all the good shiznit :D ! The TRU dude said a guy was there this morning all excited about a purple Shaq and the only Francis in the case, heheh. What's up with sending Houston so little quantities of it's best and most popular player? Sheisty.

Texas33 -- Ya'll don't have to worry about lil' ol' me, I'm more an SP fan than collector. My super-limited student's budget prevents me from going crazy on 'em. I only have a Nowitzki and Favre as far as SP goes.

In the future, I hope to acquire: Francis, Pierce, Bibby, Ichiro 2, Berkman, Rice and maybe a few others. And I don't really care about variants (I dig the regular Nowitzki and Favre uni's anyway). As you can tell, I'm not much of a threat tongue.gif .

The TRU on O.S.T. had the Purple Shaq I believe, I ran around to so many places I'm getting confused.

Voyager Toys is on Chimney Rock betw. 59 and Bellaire. They carry a bunch of different stuff but their SP selection right now is very poor, a few hockey guys, a Sapp and all the NBA series 1 except Kobe and Duncan (they do have a black uni Iverson w/closed mouth for $29).

I will find a Steve Francis dammit!

Man, I have now seen every NBA series 2 fig somewhere but still no Francis. 1 TRU, 2 KB's, and 3 Wal-marts later I come up empty-handed yet again.

NFL 5 is really scarce out there, lots of Manning, some Brady, Davis and Thomas but zero Lewis, Rice or Gonzalez. Found an Ichiro but decided to wait til MLB 4 comes out.

When I have time I usually hit the Swee****er TRU and the surrounding WM's. Since you live so close meeting up shouldn't be a problem then if you don't get hooked up this weekend smile.gif

As for pickig up extra figs for trade it never hurts. You never know who may need it. Keep the receipt because if you can't work a trade you can always return them ;)

I live in the RGV and you guys think it hard to find SPs in Houston, you can imagine how difficult it is to find SPs here where there is only one small mall and two toy stores. To topp it off, having to share one or two cases for store for the entire area is ridiculous (sp). I have a trip coming up soon to Houston and am planning to see what I can find. You would think that with so many stores in the area your chances of finding SPs would improve. I can imagine all the traffic you have to fight because the stores are so spread out.

Sweetshot, if you collect NFL, good luck...dont bother with the WalMarts here, they don't have squat!!! I have had the best luck at TRU here, and thats just when you hit them on the right day. Some of the Game Stops have some NFL, but not much....At WM, it seems to be mainly baseball, with some NBA 2. Good luck. tongue.gif

Picked up a Tony Gonzalez @ FAO Shwartz today. The FAO dude told me they cracked a case open 3-4 weeks ago and it had a 49ers Rice. Just my luck, I was a month late :eek: ! They have a Barry Bonds if anyone is interested.

Talked to the folks at Voyager and they told me that they probably won't be selling single SP's anymore since they can't get rid of the weak sellers, a la Vince Carter. Great, one less place to go. Bought a Ghost in the Shell fig while I was there.

If anyone is looking for Harrison, Chrebet, McNabb or Jeter, Third Planet has 'em.

VikesGuy -- True dat on Wal-mart's sheistiness. The one near my house hasn't stocked SP's in at least 6 months. The Gamestops I've been to have been really small, except for the one on Holcombe, which actually carries SP's.

Thanks for the warning. Wally Worlds down here also suck a big one. I never had any luck there and basically I giving up searching there. Have you guys tried EBs. NFL figs. have become extinct practically. Basically, a collector has to be on the hunt every other day or so, but who has the time. Just on weekends. :confused:

Vikes -- Nah, didn't pick up the variant Martin. Variants aren't really my thing, plus I'm pretty selective. You might wanna check Bedrock City Comics on Hillcroft and Westheimer for a Chrebet. A customer sold a few SP's to the store to get rid of 'em and I remember there being a Harrison and Chrebet. But that was last week, so dunno if they're still there.

The GS on Westheimer(@ Dunvale) had 3 Brady's when I was there this past Tuesday. I was going to buy them but when I picked them up I realized why they were still there. All the bubbles were crushed on them :( Although the figs are still in perfect shape, they'd make great openers for you guys that open your figs :D

Today's rounds....
Went down to the Galleria area....Shao, I did happen to stop in at Bedrock, and they have Harrison, Chrebet, and Sapp.... Harrison is 20.00, Chrebet was 20 bucks there , just like at Third Planet, and Sapp is 18.00. I just got Sapp the other day at Voyager for 15.00, and Harrison at 3rd Planet for 17.00..I left Chrebet there, so far I have not convinced myself to spend 20 bucks for a fig, but looks like thats the going rate for him....Texas 33, today they still had those Brady's at that Game Stop...the GS on Westheimer closer to the Galleria has 4 Brady's, a Gonzalez, A-Train...they also have a bargain bin with a few figs 50% off....reg Manning, and a few baseball, Kerry Wood is the only one I remember...TRU down there had the most hockey figures I've seen anywhere in a while...ALSO, for those who collect MLB...they had ALL of the Series 1 and 2 marked down to $7.98....had probably 15-20 figures at that price.....later!! ;)

Texas33 -- I scored the Francis and variant Dirk @ the Swee****er TRU. Got there a little after noon and saw that they were re-stocking the shelves. Asked a dude to check if they received any NBA2 or NFL5 so he went in the back and brought out a case of the NBA2's. I still can't believe all the Shaqs in one case, I hope McFarlane learns from this mistake. No other Francis' or variants in the case except the Dirk (I don't think, I was too giddy over the Francis). Gonna check back next week to see if they have any NFL5's.

Vikes -- Sorry man, the only unopened fig I have is the variant Dirk, no Vikings. Besides, I wouldn't wanna deprive you of your only Owens and Ricky :D . I'll keep on trying to find 'em, but thanks. I just came a little late to the SP party.

Vikes -- got the Kidd and KG figs @ Voyager thinking they might just disappear soon. $2 more than TRU prices. The Woodlands is pretty dang far, I'd have to drive an hour just to get out there. But I did find a Griffey @ TRU for $8 so I'm pretty happy today. It's a badass pose.

I realize how fortunate I am, finding a Stevie Francis here in town. Good thing the TRU dude was nice. He asked me what NFL 5 guy I was looking for (Jerry Rice) before he went in the back, and at first I thought he was hoarding figs or something. But he brought out a case of NBA 2's and opened it up for me. Said he was happy to help out collectors. What a stand-up guy!

Let's hope my luck holds when NBA 3 and MLB 4 come out.

SP Conspiracy at TRU...??...

Guys, what do you make of this: (long story)...
PART ONE:
This past Monday, go to my local TRU. Asked by a friendly associate as I was looking at the SP's if I was finding what I needed, because if I wasn't, she could go look in the back. So, naturally I responded that it would be great if she could do that, I would appreciate it. I tell her I am interested only in NFL and NBA. (still trying for Francis). While I'm waiting, another friendly gal asks me if I need help, and I tell her someone is helping me, she's in the back. First girl comes out with a case of NBA...it had obvious already been opened...the usual 4 Shaq's, and a bunch of other regs. Second girl then joins us and I said to both of them that "I guess there's no FB back there right now?" and the second gal says she thinks there is and goes to the computer, and I follow her there. While she is punching keys, she mentions that her and her husband collect them "just for fun", and she wants the Gonzalez figure. After looking at the computer, she goes to the back room. Comes back out with another box (NFL) that was already opened...regs, and 2 NBA regs in this box. Obviously, not how TMP packed them...after I was done looking through them, she mentions that they had a truck coming Wednesday, and if I come back on Thursday around noon, that is when they would stock whatever came in...she mentions that scalpers come in there every morning trying to get them to sell on Ebay, and she hates that, so they wouldn't stock them until Thursday, noon...
Sounded good to me, so Thursday, today, I get there about 10 till...nothing new on the shelves yet (good)...I find her on the phone w/ a customer, and I wait. When she gets off, I mention to her that if she still needs a Gonzalez, I saw one at the Game Stop by my house...(this TRU didnt have any Gonzo on the shelf Mon or today). She tells me thanks, but she already got him, then she goes in the back to check on the SP situation. Gone about 10 minutes....comes back out empty handed, says that "someone already opened" the case, and so thats why she didnt bring any out....so I said "so you did receive some between Monday and today?" and she said yes, but someone had gone through it "when she wasn't there"....then she goes ahead and brings out this box....guess what...there are nothing but regs in there INCLUDING 2 Gonzales figures, AND the same 2 NBA figures that I had seen in a box from the back on Monday....SO, a shipment came in, nothing new on the shelf, new figures put in an existing box that was already in the back. The Gonzalez figures were obviously on the new shipment, and she had mentioned she "just got one"...
PART TWO:
Still feeling a little miffed, I decided to go to "one more" TRU just for kicks. SOS on the shelves...Mannings, Shaq's....I see a young lady stocking a cart load of stuff nearby, and I ask her if they just received a truck...she says "actually, it's from yesterday". I then asked if she new if any of "those sports action figures" came in. She said she wasn't sure, but would ask the guy in the back. In a couple minutes, she comes back with a taped up case...NBA...I actually thought this was finally it, going to pull a Francis or some variant out of there....she takes out her knife and opens it up....says "ok, help yourself"...so I look in the box....Shaq, Shaq, Shaq, Allen, Brand, Shaq, Stockton, Stockton, Allen, and a Dirk (all regs).
NO Francis, no variants. Wait a minute...10 figures....hmmm, I thought these were 12 per case....look closer at the tape...McFarlane tape still there, but a nice crisp clear tape right over the McFarlane tape...now, I am real miffed.
Went back and thanked the girl again for getting the box from the back, went to the front. Asked for the Mgr. Mgr came up. Introduced myself, let him know about the helpful young lady going out of her way. Then I told him that this was just FYI, he might have an issue there. Explained about the case of 12 only being 10. Asked if he was familiar with these figures, and he was "a little"...explained to him that generally, there is going to be a variant or two per case...this case had 10 regular ones, and two were MIA. This guy did not seem fazed. He basically just said, "well I'm glad she was able to help you"....and that "they aren't supposed to bring partial cases out"...this guy wasnt getting what I was telling him...the box had beed OPENED and RESEALED....in one ear and out the other...

What do you guys think about this? :confused: :mad:

Well NHL4 is here on Houston kids! Got a call from my guy at GS today letting me know they got thier case in and that's he holding the variant and Kovalchuk for me.

So after that call I called a few others to see if they had received theirs as well. All but 2 of them got them in. I ended up getting 2 Salo's, red Thibault, black Roenick and a regular Kovalchuk from 2 different stores in Sugarland :D I'll be picking up another Salo, red Thibault and blue Richter later this week from a couple of other GS's. One of the Salo's will be up for trade so drop me aline if you're interested. I'm looking for the other NHL4 variants and still trying to finish my NBA2 variant set.

Well, I just got back from Houston on Tues. after spending a great three days at a conference. Stayed at the Radison Hotel by Reliant Stadium as they are getting ready for the Rodeo. Really, didn't much of a chance to check the area toy stores. However, one evening after finishing for the night, my buddies and I decided to look for some good dougnuts. Someone recommended KrispiKreme shop, on the way to the shop my buddy saw a G.S. and was suprisied because it was open being that is was close to 11:00 p.m. He quickly pulled over and we went in fast. I spotted the figures section and was suprised to find many series 5 figs. hanging on the pegs, as well a few n.b.a. figs. It didn't took me long to discover a what was waiting for me, way on the back of some other figs. none other than Jerry Rice 49s fig. Whoaaaa! who missed that! What God puts in front of you, no one can get it. Because it was meant for you only. I also bought the Jeff Garcia fig. ,Jerome B. and an extra Brady. I also had my eyes out for a Ozzy fig. and there were two of them, so I picked one up. Could have picked some more figs., but ran out of cashsola. At 11.99 a pop plus, 14.99 for the Ozzman, well you get the picture. Nope, not a damn thing unfortunately. I did go to the SWM here in Stafford and saw they had NHL4 in. It must've been there a while though because there were only 3 figs left :(

As for Voyager, $40 for a Franchise...***?! I know this is Houston and all but that's ridiculous. I don't even know they sold singles. I called them Friday asking about NHL4 and they told me they only sold sp's by the case...hmmmm :confused:

Texas33....Yep, 39.99.....When I told the guy I'd pass, he said "yeah, I understand, it's just that that is about all we sell out of the case...(B.S.)...anyway, they DO sell individual figs in there...they have a room with one wall full, mainly NBA, only had one closed mouth Iverson as far as variants go. The Francis was behind the desk up front hanging up. He told me they "usually only sell cases" too, but this was the second time I went there, and the same wall was full of SP's the frist time also. Got Sapp for 14.97 on that trip.

See, I think the peeps at Voyager Toys just talk outta their collective arses. Cases in point:

I started asking them about NBA 2 in December and each time I talked to them, it was, "We expect them in next week" or "They're supposed to be here in a few days." This went on until late January when I finally gave up. They said they would call me as soon as a Francis and Nowitzki came in. Well, judging from VikesGuy's Francis sighting, that turned out to be a load of *****.

In addition, the owner's wife (I believe) told me she'd ask their daughter, who goes to school in Reno, NV to go to her local TRU and pick me up a Francis. I would either pay for it at cost or trade her a Nowitzki since her daughter is a huge Dirk fan. Yet another load of crizzap.

I don't like it when people say things they don't mean. Don't give me any bull***** lines, just say you're gonna sell Francis at a higher price (I can understand it since we live in Houston).

Don't think I'll be doing business there anymore. Hope no one buys that $40 Francis, it would be a travesty.

One more added note regarding Voyager...
On my first visit there, a young guy working there told me straight up that they put variants on Ebay right from the case.
The second time, I got the impression I was speaking with the owner. He's the one that said they "usually" only sell cases. I think they are trying to give the impression that they don't sell singles regularly so that people won't catch on that they put the good stuff on Ebay (or mark it at 40 bucks, as in the case of the Francis).
Oh well....in the couple of months I have been pursuing this hobby aggressively, this is just another example of the "brick wall" that you typically run into...I've pretty much decided I'll just go ahead and buy the case of NFL6, hopefully get most of the regs in it, probably if I get variant(s), I will trade someone for older regular series regs I want. It's obvious that to get older series regs, you have to trade a variant, or give your left n*t for it. Later fellas... ;)

The Voyager guys are alright... not the place for SportsPicks though. They don't order much anymore and the prices... well... they're expensive. The store mainly caters to Dragon and Sideshow fans nowadays.

If you're looking for a Francis at a more reasonable price ($15-$20), go to the new Hwy 6 Fleamarket. It's the old K-Mart near Hwy 6 and Beechnut (I think). There's a guy in there who has an action figure shop. Last time I checked, there was a decent selection of SportsPicks including Francis.

wow, I just found this thread surfing around.

I normally hit up TRU on Westheimer near Dunvale, Gamestop in galleria as well as the EB there, meyerland gamestop.

Today I went to TRU on i-10 near memorial city mall and found thornton variant.

Few weeks ago I found white francis (steve) and purple shaq at the TRU i normally go to.
GS in galleria I see variants all the time, I work there, normally this dude buys the whole damn case so I never get a shot at them =( but the EB right downstairs had a salo for me =)

Hello, to everyone from Houston. Just dropping a line to say hi from the Valley. Looks like things have been slow over there. The same here as my two local stores at the Mall have nothing so far. A G. S. and Kay-Bees. Some time back this friend turn me on to a store he found at a downtown area in a city where I live. He said that had a whole floor was dedicated to figs. of all sorts. Back then, he said they had a lot of Mike V. figs. and other SPs. Well, during a trip I had to make to that area, I dedicided to look for it. You see this area of the town (main street) makes you feel like you are in Mexico shopping because they have lots of stores full of different toys of all makes. Anyways, I found the store and sure enough it was walking into a candy store for me. I quickly walked up the stairs to the floor and they had a whole wall full of SPs (baskeball, football, and hocky). I picked up two figs. one of K. Brown and A. Jamison. The only varient was a few white mouth piece A-Trains. The other half of the store had nothing but toys figs. like spawn and Anime etc. However, been in a rush I didn't have the time to spend looking around. Maybe I can help some of you guys in finding some figs. Don't know. They called me that they had received some NBA figs. don't know what series maybe 3. However, really have had the chance to go yet. As well as, money is kind of low right now till I get paid. Don't you hated when a series comes in and you don't have a paycheck coming in during that time. :mad: graemlins/spawnskull.gif

I was at memorial city mall the K-bee there had nadda.. Wally World by westeimer and dunval never has anything either nor does the one at Westeimer and Kirkwood. Why is it so hard to find anything here. Anybody seen any of the new NBA??? Do any of the fea markets have any?? anyone has seen??

Picked up a Bibby at the Katy Mills TRU. No other NBA 3 besides him -- did one guy buy all the rest? Weird. Looked in the storage bins but just some old stuff. Asked 2 employees and they seemed pretty clueless.

Thinking I could get lucky twice, went to Swee****er TRU but nothing doing even though they were in the process of restocking.

Kovalchuk available at the KB in First Colony Mall if anyone is still looking for one.

Thanks for the tip about the GameStops, I hit some on the northside and I scored the following: Regular Baron Davis.........that would have been great for me if it ended there, but I also found: Variant Kobe, Variant Wallace, Variant Bibby, and Variant Davis(too sweet!). I also found a Variant Sprewell but I left it(Deerbrook Mall GameStop) if anyone's interested.

All from GS's on the SW side :D The Bibby and one of the Davis's are mine. The other two are up for trade and will be posted on the B/S/T/ asap!

Sounds like between this board, we knocked off all the GameStops in town, so no sense in checking them for variants! Hey Dane, yea as soon as you called I did a little hunting for myself. Don't worry though, I may still try and pick up that Davis for you.

Between the four GS's I hit, three on the SW side and one in Pearland, I got 3 Davis's and a Bibby variant. I'd have to agree with Dane and say the Davis is pretty common in these parts for now. The GS in First Colony Mall got a Rasheed variant however. I traded a fellow Houston Collector to get that one...thanks Shao Time! ;)

The other two Davis's I have are up f/t. Does anyone have any other NBA2, NHL4 or NBA3 variants they want to part with? Drop me a line if so smile.gif

Hit TRU-Swee****er today and found 2 cases of NBA 3 waiting for me. Grabbed a no-fro Yellow Kobe and White Pierce from an open box. Another collector followed me in a few minutes after while an employee opened the 2nd box. I could tell from my vantage point that the variants again were the Yellow Kobe and White Pierce so I let the other guy have 'em. Him being an older fella, he had to pick up each package to see if there were any variants.

Couldn't tell if he was a scalper or collector but he seemed like a nice enough guy after chatting with him for a few minutes. I just know that if there had been a different variant in there, my lightning-quick reflexes would have won out :D .

Interesting note: no Gasol, Jones, or Howard in either box.

Nme....that would be me that plucked that ugly purple Bibby at Meyerland GS!! I have two variant Bibby's, 1 variant Wallace, and today I popped into a WalMart for something else and of course made my futile trip to the SP area...there on a peg was a variant Schilling...guess everyone is so used to seeing him no one noticed this was the gray/black variant. Went ahead and picked him up just because it was a variant in a WalMart...a first for me.
So, if anyone is interested in any of these variants, give me a shout...after a few days I will probably go to the BST board with them if my fellow Houstonites don't bite.

EC-Well it all depends what side of town you live on or what GS's you plan on hitting. I know between Shao Time and myself most of the GS,WM's and TRU's on the Southwest, Sugarland/Stafford areas get raided pretty often :D However if you need something just do a post. I'm sure one of us can help you out if at all possible smile.gif
