I seen a ton of reg and chase delhome at the champs at the crabree mall. Not sure of the price, but I know they had about an equal amount of each.

I checked out both of the TRU's in the Triad area this afternoon...Cooperstown 2 series everywhere but no chases. There were plenty of Ruth's available. The others were not as plentiful. I have picked up a regular Ruth and a regular Mays. I am going to pick up the rest of them this week. I also checked out the Wal*Mart off Wendover in Greensboro about midnight last night...NOTHING!!!
I checked out the GameStop in Hanes Mall...they had a bunch of regular Cooperstown 2. I am also seeing a bunch of the new NBA figures. I do not collect NBA so I am leaving all of them. Also has anyone seen the Bonds/Mays two pack? I am not a big fan of either of these guys but I would love to have it.

Bummer about the Deacs. That was an UNBELIEVABLE game, though. Too bad wake couldn't pull it out. They are so disappointing year after year in the Tourney. Oh well, have I mentioned that the Patriots AND the Red Sox are BOTH WORLD CHAMPIONS :) At least I have something to hang my hat on, right ? Good luck to the rest of the ACC tomorrow...

Actually, just looking for the Sepia Ruth and Mets Willie Mays at this point...I actually returned that Ruth you saw there today :) I found a better quality one at Crabtree TRU Friday, along with a reg Mays.

Not much was wrong with it at all, really. Overall, it was nice...just the hang tag was bent outward. I am kinda picky, I guess, but the one I found Friday at TRU Crabtree was better in my eyes :)

There are a bunch of nice Ruth's in the Triad area. I figured that Ruth would be a smaller production and would be harder to find but it looks like McFarlane produced a bunch of those. GameStop in Hanes Mall told me that they were not going to order any cases unless a collector pre-ordered and paid in advance. They stated that they would not have any more loose figures. However, yesterday it looked like they had at least one case of Cooperstown 2 on the pegs.

what a disappointment the wake game was. i kept waiting for wake to get a defensive stop. it seemed as if wvu could not miss. i thought the two charging calls on wake and the carry on downey were all weak calls. no excuses, though, wake never should have let them back in the game. this is the only time of year i pull for anyone in the acc other than unc. i am actually pulling hard for state and duke today. i like for the acc to do well. hopefully g-tech can get a big win today to make up for the wake loss.

I really hope you just didn't jinx Duke by making that statement. Sheldon and Shav will have their hands full today playing a good bigman in Lawrence Roberts. Don't know much about their other players but he is outstanding. I'm hoping for a Williams/Bogut matchup in the future.

Hey guys!!! Some info on an autograph opportunity in NC. On April 6, the Durham Bulls are hosting their annual FanFest at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park. As I recall from last year, there was no charge. You could watch the players work out and afterwards there was a meet and greet whereby you could obtain autographs. Of course B.J. Upton will be there as well as former Cincinnati Reds' Jimmy Haynes and Brandon Larson. Denny Neagle might be there as well. I do not know whether that has been decided yet. But anyway, it is a great time to obtain autographs. I managed to get almost the entire team last year including Rob Bell, Dewon Brazelton, and others!!!

heck yeah ncsu, up next bucknell or wisconsin.
herb basically played our starting five the entire 2nd half until evtimov fouled out with a couple minutes left. thats probably the 20th different starting lineup for this year with all the injuries and such. this win will hopefully shut up all the herb haters until the next season, but knowing a couple of them, they will still want him gone.
williams for uconn is a great player, he carried them the second half.

no s### about the herb-haters. i am so tired of the "he can't take us to the next level" crap. if the pack had been healthy all year, their acc record would have been a lot better. as for my heels, great win today. one more win for the pack and the heels, and we could have a big eight meeting of rivals. how great would that be!!!

Anyone interested in playing ????
Hey guys...is there anyone here on the NC board who enjoys fantasy baseball ? I am the commissioner of a FREE Yahoo Fantasy Baseball League that is Rotisserie Style. There is NO COST to play at all, and we have a Live Online Draft starting at 9PM ET on Friday, April 1. We currently have 10 teams, and would like to get at least 12 and a max of 14. Most of those currently in the league are friends of mine from college and we have been playing in this type league for a while. It is purely for fun, and the only thing we require is that owners be active and not ever give up on their teams. Stats are updated daily and you can purchase a StatTracker for live updates for $9.99 for the whole season. You have to have a Yahoo ID (this is free if you don't already have one) to play. If anyone loves baseball and wants to play, please PM me or post your email address and I will send you an invitation to play. The only other stipulation is that we do not tolerate any swearing/cursing/etc...only good natured trash talk and fun postings on the league message board. It really is a fun league, though. Let me know. Below are the basic league settings. Also, your roster = starting lineup (in other words, there are no bench players...all stats for all players not on the DL count).
Thanks,
Jonathan (fenwayp)

Looking for a sepia Ruth and a Yanks Catfish Hunter. Any help would be gladly appreciated. It was tough finding chase figures before the local TRU in Rocky Mount closed. Now with the one in g'ville being the only local one left, its impossible.

Stopped by the Cary Walmart today (Kildaire Farm Rd/Tryon Rd) and saw a regular NFL10 Randy Moss and a WHITE NFL10 Randy Moss CHASE/VARIANT. I'm guessing someone returned them. The Moss variant (and reg) I left for anyone who might want them. The sticker on the front is a bit off-center, but otherwise is is nice shape !
Also, Cary TRU looked like they had just put out a fresh case of Cooperstown Series 2, but there were only 11 figures left (no variants, of course...). Here is the breakdown of what they had :
1 Mays Giants
1 Hunter A's
2 Ruth Yanks
2 Schmidt Phils
2 Stargell Pirates
3 Ripken O's

I thought that was a tough call to make but there were a few calls that shouldn't been made ie Raymond Felton getting his 3rd and fifth fouls. Overall I think the officiating has been horrible in NCAA tournament games played by ACC teams. I don't like Duke but I thought they got robbed on a few calls last night. How they missed that dunk call by Williams still bothers me. This hurts us The ACC every year when it comes to the tournament. During the regular season the ACC officials pretty much let us play but then tournamebt time comes, the officials want to call every tick tack foul. Well Hopefully the Heels play alot better Sunday and I am sure Roy will have them ready. Go Heels. 3 games down 3 to go!!!!

There were 3 Mays/Bonds 2-Packs at Cary TRU (Crossroads) at around 10:30 AM today (Sat). I bought 1 and left two. There were still two left around 1 PM. There were also 2 McNabb-Strahan 2-packs.
Interestingly, for those who care, the guy (it was an older gentleman who I think had no interest in these whatsoever) also had 2 sealed cases (2 per case) of LeBron James/Tracy McGrady 2-packs in the aisle, but I came back around 1PM and they were not out anywhere. My guess is they put them back in the stockroom since there is not much room to put many more two packs at the McFarlane display on the floor. If anyone is interested, I would ask them to check in the back, since I know I saw 2 cases this morning. Unless someone bought all 4 of the 2-packs between 10:30 AM and 1 PM (which I doubt). GO GET 'EM !!

03-26-2005, 11:59 AM
Also, Target in Cary (Crossroads) this morning had some stuff on clearance including Tom Seaver, Bob Gibson, Tim Brown ($6.48 each); Yao Ming/Shaq 2-packs (they had ~8 of these) were marked down to $8.48 per two-pack. They also had a Donovan McNabb (Green) 12" figure that was marked down to $14.85 ! GO GET EM !

at this time of the year, the difference between who goes and who wins it all has everything to do with match-ups, who's hitting their peak, and luck. you cannot tell me that west virginia would be 17 for 22 behind the arc with 5 minutes left in any other game. louisville has been playing great, but west virginia is shooting the lights out of the ball, and hello, they may not even win this game. as a heels fan for the last 36 years, i have seen just as many calls go against us as have gone for us. state fans think carolina gets all the calls and carolina fans think duke gets all the calls, and duke fans know they get all the calls...ha!ha! by the way, the show was alot of fun today...there was a pretty big crowd, plus i got nick goings auto and met him...definitely worth it.

I went to the show last month. There were about 7-8 dealers there. Quite honestly, I didn't see one thing I even wanted to buy. No one had any wax, and over half the stuff there was "older" cards.
I've thought about setting up for these shows, but in talking to a couple of people that set up last month, some didn't even cover their table fees.
I think it's going to take a couple of months before people get used to the shows being there. I do hope they succeed though. A little competition for shows in the area is always a good thing.

If the last show Rivers was at is any indication of how this show is going to be, don't bother setting up. I had one of my worst shows (didn't even bother to bring any SP's either). Everyone was holding onto their money for Rivers, and didn't spend anything on cards, etc... at the show.
I'll be there anyway, just cause I have regular customers that come for hockey, but if not for that, I'd be tempted to pass on the show.
And me personally... I can't justify paying those prices for Peppers and Rivers too. I think the most I ever paid for an autograph was the $25 for Rivers at the last show (actually, that's the ONLY time I've ever paid for an autograph!).

Thanks for the info on the show Zubaslava, if I'm down that way I might check it out, but I don't think I will go out of my way to get to it. I'll just save my $ for the May show at the fairgrounds. By the way, if anyone is interested, right now they are showing the 1982 GT vs. UNC game on ESPN Classic.

i have no luck at all when it comes to buying wax boxes. i have purchased 5 different nfl 2004 boxes this year, and have not gotten anything worth a fart. i bought two sweet spots, 2 upper deck sp, and one donruss classics, and the best card i got was a jack ham auto. 5 of the autos are redemptions. at least with upper deck, you can redeem via their website. over the last yeari have mailed off 4 cards to donruss and fleer, and never received the cards. i have spent a pot-load, and not much to show. i know it is the risk, and it is so fun to open with the hopes of landing that big card, but if you get nothing, man, does that suck!

Fleer is bad about redeming cards. My friend pulled an Auto/Jersey Vince Carter /15 redemption card in 2000. He recieved it back LAST YEAR and it was not an auto or jersey or #15 - it was a game used floor card not numbered.

i bought two boxes of 2004 ud sweet spot football yesterday. i got two redemption cards from this one box. one was chris brown and the other was quincy wilson. so i went on ebay to see if any other of these were listed, and found a guy who had these exact same two cards listed. i emailed him to see if he got both of these cards in the same box, and he said he did. is that weird that the exact same redemption auto cards were in his wax box and in mine as well? how do companies pack the wax boxes? any help would be appreciated.

A punter juicing is pretty hilarious. But he is one tough SOB to be a punter. I read an article in my local newspaper about a month ago that 9 Panthers players were being investigated after a South Carolina doctor was busted. Hopefully no more will be named.

What's up blkngold? Been doing good man.I moved down to Fayetteville, teaching at my old high school and on Spring Break this week. I just posted on the Panthers steroid thread about what I feel on the steroid issue. I went to a 1-AA college and steroid use was very common and I heard so from the strength training coach and from players what cycles they were on etc. So, if at a 1AA college steroid use is so common, I think the NFL needs to open their eyes a little wider than the Panthers only. Because, I believe steroid use is pretty common in the NFL, especially among linemen, linebackers and not necessairly the skill positions. As far as Sauerbrun taking them, as mentioned earlier this might be a case of him taking them to bulk up for himself and not for football. Or a case of I'm a punter, so they won't suspect me so I can roid and get away with it. Hopefully all this works out and steroid use is addressed in the NFL.

Last nights show he was pretty clean cause the crowd was a majority of older people, but still funny. I've heard him on XM before were he is alot raunchier. I'd rather attend the not so clean show. I saw the Marlins and Grasshoppers today at First Horizon in Greensboro. I caught a couple of tickets from some people that could not attend outside the park and paid face value. I could not believe it. The Marlins offense looks good. Pierre, Castillo, Cabrera, Delgado, Lowell, etc. Needless to say, they put insecticide on the Hoppers 20-2. Cabrera hit a wind blown homer in the bottom of the first and the rout was on. Willis pitched very well and did not allow a hit through the middle of the third. Of course...the Marlins were playing a Class A team but it was still nice to see a major league team in Greensboro. The park is beautiful. One of the nicest park in the South Atlantic League. It has a lot of similarities to the park in Durham with the skyline. The skyline in Greensboro is down the right field fence. Greensboro should be very proud of that stadium.

You can tell that she was not a real baseball fan...she was just a politician that knew nothing about the game. Those winds were insane yesterday and it probably kept a lot of balls inside the park. hey guys, just thought I'd pass on a little something...
I went to that card show at the Holiday Inn Crabtree in Raleigh on Sunday (cause I had nothing better to do...).
Well, let's just say it was less than great. There were a total of 6 dealers set up there, and 3 of them dealt with nothing but signed memorabilia. Another guy had nothing but photos, and two guys had some cards. All in all, not very good.
Plus, they had 2 empty tables! I mean, come on. Tell the guys there to spread their stuff out to at least make it look full.
I'm thinking about doing the show next month though, just to give it a try. If I do set up, how many of you would come out if I brought my SP's?
Just trying to get an idea of if it would be worth it or not...
Oh yeah, and George Foster will be there next month too...

I can answer some of that... the guy that USED to do the bigger shows here (the ones that had auto guests). He charged $125 per table, and couple even get half the place filled up. He sold the shows to Inside Pitch.
While they were seperatem there was an "exclusive" agreement with the fairgrounds that if Inside Pitch had shows, they could advertise as having autogrpah guests, since Marco (the guy that had them back then) did.
Inside Pitch just got these shows from Marco last year, and it takes months of planning to get it all worked out. When Rivers came, they sold over 2000 autos in 2 days. It got the hype about the show back. But, Inside Pitch only handles the show itself now. Marco still oversees the autograph portion of it. So, he makes the call on the price and who's going to be there.
And, for the prices Marco charges for HOF's, there never were many people that paid for them anyway.
Just my knowledge of it all...

He's one of the best that's for sure. Just ask any kid he's coached or any coach he's assisted.

The Durham Bulls FanFest was a little disappointing. It was held tonight at the DBAP. I did catch B.J. Upton and got his autograph on a baseball. He was a rep for being a real jerk but he was nice although some aloof. I also caught Jimmy Haynes...former Reds pitcher. I took a pic of him on the mound at GABP in Cincinnati two years ago against the Yankees. I was the only person to get an autograph from him. Also caught a few more potential big leaguers but most of them were so anxious to get back into the dugout that they would not sign. Eric Munson formerly of the Tigers was one that would not sign for anyone. What a real nice guy!!!

I think I'm going to try and make it. At 11am they are having a garage sell type thing:
The NC State Athletic Department will hold a surplus sale before and during the Spring Football Game on April 16th at Carter-Finley Stadium. Fans have the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of new and used NC State athletic merchandise including jerseys, cleats, shoes, Reynolds Coliseum chairs, and much more. Be sure to check back to GOPACK.com for an inventory listing within the next week. Gates at Carter-Finley Stadium will open at 11:00 am for the sale. The Spring Game begins at 1:00pm and admission is FREE for everyone.
There is the paragraph from gopack.com about the sale. I went to UNC's last Saturday and they have a heck of a defense out there, but not much offense.

Also, I don't think this has been mentioned yet, the Torry Holt Golf Classic is April 17 at Crooked Creek Golf Club in Fuquay-Varina. I like the Mudcat's stadium. It is really neat. I have been down there a couple of times. If you get a chance this summer, you will definitely want to travel to Greensboro to see their new stadium, First Horizon Park. It is absolutely gorgeous. You will not be disappointed. It reminded me somewhat of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.

the stadium in gboro is def. nice. i know that last year their concessions people were horrible and that they still have the same people this year. theyve stepped it up a notch but its still no where it should be. i think within the next couple of years they will try to move up to high A or AA.

Joerrad, I agree with your assessment. I am unsure when their affiliation agreement with the Marlins expires but I would expect them to seek a Double A team. I doubt if the Marlins would want to do that since the Mudcats are just down the road in Zebulon. I doubt if the Carolina League would want to put another team so close to the Warthogs. That stadium is definitely Double A level. I was very impressed with their stadium. I am heading up to Appalachian Power Park in Charleston, WV on Saturday to see that new stadium. Of course then I will be heading to Cincinnati to see the 3-0 Reds!!! Break up the Reds!!!

I just got back from the Fayetteville Patriots game, the NBDL team here. They put on quite a show. They scored 102 points tonight. A few differences than the NBA, on tie-ups they have a jump ball and 3 pointers only count as 3 points in the last 3 minutes of each quarter. They drew something like 7,000 people. A pretty good game for the $7 I paid to get in.

I went a few years back. The autographs were pretty easy to get after they finished the hole for some people. They have a rope around the green and they pull their carts pretty close to that, so I simply walk up as close to their cart as I can get. I got Jim McMahon and Joe Theismann a few years ago by doing that.

One selling nothing but wax, another with concert posters, autographs and such. Another had all autographed pictures and mini-helmets (nice stuff) and one selling singles. I bought a few cheap cards and got the hell out of there. I was a little bummed since I drove like 30 miles to get there. I did score a Mays/Bonds 660 2-pk at Toys R Us Crabtree though. Yeah!! It was the corrected version with both players in white uni's. I never did see the one with Mays in the gray. Sorry for the long post.
