Anyway, I went to Raleigh this morning. The wife wanted to go to the State Fairgrounds flea market. She buys books for pennies on the dollar. Much to my suprise. I picked up a Series 5 Tony Gonzalez fig. MOMC for $5.00!!!!! I couldn't beleive it when he said, just give me 5 bucks...

I wanted to jump up and down..lol I don't need the fig, but always wanted to have a pro-bowl piece made.. Can't beat $5.00

Whew!!! Good to be back in NC, we had a good vacation but didn't enjoy the 14 hr. trip today. We went to the Louisville Slugger Museum, a Louisville Bats game, went to U of Louisville campus and went by Churchill Downs. On the way back to IN from KY we went through French Lick by Larry Bird's house and went to see his boyhood home. I hope everyone has been doing well and you guys didn't get too soaked from the rain.

no, I saw a guy with a little bitty table. He had maybe 3 figs on it. Pennington, Harrington, and some other Basketball. Can't remember who. I just asked him, if he had anymore.

He said, yeah about 10 more mostly newer football, they did have the gonzalez, a series 1 e. james, and also a Harrison.

vaderccg, I live in the Winston-Salem area. Baseball...you have the Winston-Salem Warthogs (Carolina League High A Chicago White Sox) club. The Greensboro Grasshoppers are about 45 minutes from Winston-Salem (South Atlantic League Low A Florida Marlins). The Kannapolis Intimidators (South Atlantic League Low A Chicago White Sox) are about an hour or so from Winston-Salem. You can travel about 90 minutes to see the Charlotte Knights (International League Triple A Chicago White Sox). The stadium is ugly and the view is not much but it is baseball. You are also about 90 minutes from Durham where you can catch the Durham Bulls (International League Triple A Tampa Bay Devil Rays). This is one of the most beautiful parks in baseball and worth the trip anytime that you can go. You will not be disappointed. Also it will take you about two hours but you can catch the Carolina Mudcats (Southern League Double A Florida Marlins) at Zebulon, NC. A good place to watch a game but not one of my favorite parks. Basketball...take your pick...Wake Forest, Carolina, Duke, NC State and the same thing for college football. All of these venues are within 90 minutes from Winston-Salem. Hockey...well that is another story. You have the Winston-Salem Polar Twins which is a member of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League and then you can travel to the RBC Center in Raleigh to catch the Carolina Hurricanes. You also have the LJVM Coliseum and the Greensboro Coliseum that have concerts and shows. You can also travel to Charlotte and the RBC Center all of which are within 90 minutes.

Alright, I just ordered my dad and I some tickets to see the Nationals play the Mets on 9/24/05. Now I have to order our tickets for the Orioles vs. Red Sox on 9/25/05. They also have a Sports Legends Museum and Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum in Baltimore. Should be a pretty good trip.

It's in Raleigh, on Blue Ridge Rd. I'm not too fimilar with Raleigh, but if you get on 440 (Beltline) it's on exit 3 I believe. It's where they hold the NC State Fair every year.

Thanks joerrad, too bad I don't feel the same. I've never really tried to do any custom work before, normally paid to get it done, and thought it would be a pretty simple start. Basically all I did was repaint the jersey, and add the decals. Never knew the decals would be so stubborn...lol

Oh well, maybe I will dip into it again sometime.

how do you put the decals on their and where did you get them from. are the decals the team logos or numbers as well?

The decals are the same as you would use for model cars. You dip them into water for 10 seconds, and slide them off the paper. I only printed the #'s, reebok logo, and name. But if you were doing a complete custom, you would have to do team logo's, etc. I sprayed it with clear coat after it dried, so the decals wouldn't pull off.

I'm not sure where you can get logo's from. I had a sheet laying here, that I've probably had for 5 years or so, when I used to build model cars. Check into a hobby store, or even a craft store. They might have some.

Anyone else buying NCAA Football 06? I went to Wal-Mart last night and bought it at midnight and played it till 4 am. The gameplay is amazing and the Heisman Race thing is really neat. I would recommend it highly. They even have Appalachian State, Elon, NC A&T etc. on there.

yup, I picked it up after work. I work from 3:00pm til midnight, and stopped in afterwards. Seeing I'm a KC fan, it's only right I go with K-State. The Heisman Race is a neat feature, but I can already tell my poor guy has a long road ahead of him.

I chose a CB, seeing that's what I played in school. I can't seem to get the practice drills down just yet, but I will. I hope I will be able to import my draft class into Madden 2006, as before.

It's well worth your $50.00 if your into playing football.

i got it today....i cant stop playing it. Im playing as NCSU and im the QB in the Heisman Race b/c Jay Davis doesnt deserve to even be in the game with his performance last year...I'm 7-0 and playing Fla St and im already number 3 on the Heisman watch list and i havent done any of the practice things yet :confused:

my friend and i play together on the same team. hes defensive minded and im offensive minded. its funny when one or the other doesnt do to great and we give the other ****. i had a great year one year and the five guys on the heisman watch were my qb, rb, and 3 wr's. that went along with my friend only allowing like 500 yards rushing all year.

picked up a new suit for my wedding from brooks brothers today and stopped by babbages and tru at crabtree. there were 12 military figs sitting out fresh from a case at babbages. they are sweet, but i did not get any b/c i am in a no spend mode right now...at least until school starts back up and i get paid!!! someone earlier mentioned those mlb 12 at babbages...there were six, and all six were damaged. overall, they look good as well...

hey boogie, harnett county does not have a 12 month option...i am moving to wake county, and they just stopped 12 month checks, they only offer 10...state employees credit union will withhold $ each month in order to have money over the summer, but i have never done that...i actually save my coaching/county supplements for the summer...this is the first summer i have not worked...i am being a slack@$$ this summer...

If anyone's looking for MLB 12 singles, they put out a case at Crabtree last night. Scored a Rolen chase (crushed bubble though) and a Beltran and Glavine reg to open. The case was fresh, but man, over half the pieces were destroyed.

Todd and the boys need to get this fixed quick! Can you imagine what's going to happen if NFL Legends shows up in condition like that?!?!?

They also put out remnants of an NBA 8 case (2 figs missing from case, no chase). But, did pick up a Carmelo and Shaq reg.

Once you buy your ticket, there's no charge for autos though I believe you have to provide your own item for them to sign.

I don't think anyone has posted this yet. On Sept. 18 at 3pm the Carolina Hurricanes are playing a preseason game against Florida. Admission and parking are both free to this game. Their website says they are giving out assigned seats on a first come-first serve basis.

As I understand things for this weekend at the PX (so far), you can get into the PX, but if you're not military, you can't buy anything. I'm going to call the group that's doing the promotion today to find out what can and can't be signed. He's supposed to be there to help promote his new "Magic 32" line of apparel and shoes.

I'm guessing though that since it's on a military base, it'll be free, and he'll sign anything you bring (probably a limit of one per person).

Once I know more, I'll post it for everyone...

OK, so here's what I found out on Magic this weekend...

He's going to be at the South Post PX this Saturday. They're saying it starts at 9:00am. The first 350 people that purchase something from his clothing line will receive a lanyard, which allows you to get an autograph.

I asked the woman if you could bring something in to get signed, like a jersey, and she said that he was only signing those pieces of clothing and such that you purchase. "Uhhh....Hi Magic. Could you sign my shorts?" "Whoa dude, is that Magic's autograph on your azz? Yup, it sure is!"

Idiotic if you ask me...

Also, it sounds like it's a moot point if you're not military. The woman from the PX said that you're not even allowed in unless you're with someone that's military, and then they have to sign you in, but you can't purchase anything.

The game will be the culmination of the Caniac Carnival, the Hurricanes' longtime season kickoff event, and parking and admission will be free of charge for all fans. Season-ticket holders and mini-plan holders, who normally receive free admission to one preseason game, will still have access to their seats for the Sept. 18 game, and will also receive complimentary admission to the Sept. 16 exhibition game against Washington. how bout the panthers getting gardner from the skins...i know with colbert and drew carter coming off an injury to go with steve smith coming off an injury, we have a pretty good receiving corps...but with the addition of a big, physical guy like gardner, i am pumped about the wr's...man, i cannot wait until football starts...september and october are awesome months with pennant races, playoffs and the nfl and college seasons in full swing!!!!!!!!

I like the trade for Gardner, the article doesn't say it, but they gave up a draft pick next year for him. Pretty good deal for the Panthers. Also, the article says that Stefan Lefors is expected to sign a 4 year deal today.

yeah, pimpin, in my mind i think that is a dumb trade. im really starting to wonder what bernie is trying to do. i also question drafting may but then beleived it would work, but to trade for another center, when we already have ok, may, primo, and ely at pf and c. theyve also got malik allen who played well late in the season and ely is a solid backup and produced when he played. theyve still basically abandoned getting a solid starting sg. their was alot more available this free agent season then their will be next year. if they get the same amount of wins as last year, i would think hes got to be on the hot seat, but with him and bob being best buds, who nows

also i was helping my dad put in a new air conditioning in his shop when i saw yellow jackets begining to swarm. i yelled YELLOW JACKETS and we darted outside. lucky their werent many and we sprayed most down with some spray.

Apparently the resoning was that Felton was their man. I liked Hart as a player. I hope that felton works out though.

I just heard on a message board that T.A. McClendon was cut by the Falcons. I couldn't find anything about this on the Falcons site or at NCST site, has anyone heard this?

Also, so much for hitting Burlington tonight (rain) Kannaopolis and Charlotte on Sat and Sun are out to, because I have a coaches meeting Sun at 3, that I found out about 6pm on Thurs. Oh well, there is always next year.
