clemson had their chances tonight, but it appears that once again they blew it...i cannot see how the devils are winning (and yes, i am biased)...it must be the duke mystique for these acc teams...clemson was short on every shot in the last couple of minutes...nerves at cameron...not being able to handle the pressure...this is the least talented devils team in years, and no one can beat them...what a choke job for the tigers...once again they breeze through a boo boo non-conference schedule, and lose a pile in conference play

That Duke/Clemson game was wild. With a little time clock help I'm glad the Dukies were able to escape. Common sense will tell you it takes longer than .6 seconds to set up and shoot a 3. But Clemson still had to play defense with what they were dealt and didn't do it very good.

ACC Admits 'Timing Error' in Duke Win Over Clemson

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Atlantic Coast Conference admitted Friday that a timing error was made in the closing seconds of No. 10 Duke's 68-66 win over 19th-ranked Clemson.

Coordinator of basketball officials John Clougherty said the league reviewed the game film and discussed the clock controversy with the officials, Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski and Clemson coach Oliver Purnell.

"The league acknowledges that a timing error was made in not starting the game clock at the correct time," said Clougherty, adding the situation was resolved internally but did not elaborate.

The confusion started shortly after Clemson's Vernon Hamilton made a layup to pull the Tigers to 66-63 with 5 seconds left.

Josh McRoberts' inbounds pass for Greg Paulus went right to Hamilton just outside the 3-point arc. Hamilton hit a 3 to tie it with 1.8 seconds left, which seemed to have the game headed for overtime.

But officials stopped play to review the time remaining and restored the clock to 4.4 seconds. The clock, which stopped on Hamilton's layup, did not restart on the steal until the ball was almost in the basket - a pause of more than a second.

McRoberts then inbounded the ball to Jon Scheyer. He pushed the ball near midcourt and passed to David McClure, who made a layup as time expired to give the Blue Devils the win.

"I am satisfied with their review in this matter," Purnell said Friday. "We now need to put 100 percent of our focus on our game with Virginia on Sunday, and that is what we will do, starting with today's practice."

A Duke spokesman did not immediately return a telephone message Friday seeking comment from Krzyzewski.

All in all, it was a decent show. Not nearly the amount of people in there I would have hoped for, but it was all good. Picked up some nice cards for my personal collection.

And oh yeah, I sold off the majority of my SP's this weekend! Got a couple of odds and ends around, but 99% of my inventory is GONE. And I have to say, it's nice to have that extra space right now.

I'm not getting out entirely, but I'm going to be very selective with what I pick up now.

carolina's 1924 title was given to them by the HELMS FOUNDATION for going undefeated......not the NCAA, so thats 57', 82' 93' and 05'.....4 to me AND HOW MANY TEAMS WERE AROUND BACK THEN in 1924.......4 or 5???:rolleyes: ....so thats 4 legit titles to our 3 including back to back 91-92 and our numerous trips to the championship game.....for as long as unc has been recording victories they should have been had 1900 wins by now????.....were approaching 1800 and havent been prominent nearly as long......let me see: 1 less national title, comparable victories...more ACC titles(none for unc since1998....the acc tourney should be called the DUKE INVITATIONAL:D )....more ACC players of the year.....more NATIONAL players of the year......weve been ranked #1 for more weeks and only trail UCLA for that distinction.......realize it:D and accept it:D .....and its DUKIES BABEE:D

Only 1,000 of each have been produced and will be offered exclusively online (www.allstarvinyl.com; MSRP $49.99), making the 11-inch action figures – based on the stylized realism found in comic-book art –arguably the most limited league-licensed football figures ever released to collectors.

“Even though these quarterbacks put up big numbers each season, we’re going to keep our numbers on this release extremely small staying true to the roots of low run limited edition vinyl figures,” said Upper Deck sports figure product manager Dave Sanders. “Like their real-life athlete’s on-field ability, these figures are extremely rare. And like their fan’s expectations, product demand will be high. If history is any indicator, there’s no doubt they’ll go fast.”

According to Sanders, Upper Deck’s first vinyl figures –featuring LeBron James – sold out in a little more than an hour. The Super Bowl quarter back series represent the first licensed vinyl figures from a sports league, and are a follow-up to Upper Deck’s successful “The LeBrons” figures released last year in partnership with Nike and centered on LeBron’s latest sneaker campaign.

Sanders also noted that Upper Deck’s January NFL release is the start of All-Star Vinyl’s product launch in all four major sport categories. Its NBA and NHL athletes hit retail in March, MLB players in May. In total, 38 elite athletes of the present and past will be unveiled on the All-Star Vinyl label in 2007.

To that, Sanders pointed out the cleft in Brady’s chin and Roethlisberger’s pinky on the ball, lifted a half-inch from the laces. All three action figures are featured in their team’s home jerseys, complete with Reebok logo on sleeve, NFL logo on chest. Away versions of all three quarterbacks will be launched in July.

San Diego-based freelance comic and figure artist Sean Galloway, 32, designed the All-Star Vinyl Super Bowl quarterback series. Galloway’s credits include commissioned art for Batman, Hellboy and Teen Titans.

“I love to create art; but what I love even more is to create with meaning. This project allowed me to reinterpret NFL players as we all envision them—larger than life,” said Galloway. The artist’s artwork is featured prominently on each figure’s packaging, giving collectors insight into the design of each player.

The sports action figures were sculpted by Rocco Tartamella, a well-known toy sculptor who has done work for such clients as Mattel, Hasbro, and McFarlane. Taratamella also sculpted Upper Deck’s LeBron series.

The trend of urban vinyl collectibles originated in Hong Kong and Japan, recently becoming popular in the United States. A sign of its popularity: at the Toy Fair last February, the industry officially recognized this trend with its own exhibit hall titled "Urban Bazaar: Indie Art Toys."

Urban vinyl figures, or designer toys, are thought of as not just toys, but as pieces of art. congrats to the pack for whipping our fannies...they were the much better team today...13-17 from the field is incredible...i told my wife (a state grad) that if unc was within 2 with 3 minutes left, unc would win...with a little over 3 minutes left, it was a two point game, and fells hit that 3, and i knew it was over...good thing i was on beer number 5 at wrightsville beach, or may have exploded...goes to show that anything can happen when duke, unc or state play each other...even after state's victory at va tech, i though it would be close, but i never thought they could hang with us...but, obviously my 30 state friends have let me know the final score...over and over and over again...

You could save yourself the trouble and sell me the 12" Brady for $25.00. :)

I generally go with book value on a lot of the items, especially those that are hard to find. The smart shopper or dealer will know what they want to pay for an item, so if it is too high, they will ask you to come down. Cards normally are priced below book value unless it is a great RC or Auto. You really have to do a couple of shows to know what a good price is and what people are really shopping for. I make most of my money on Customs, but I usually have a variety of other items from MLB to NHL to NASCAR.

boogie, can you really throw roy into that mix...k is 4-3 against roy since roy has been at the hill...you can have the guthridge and doherty years b/c that really proves k's greatness against those two stellar head coaches!...dean really took the program to the highest level the same way that k has taken duke to the highest level...i would imagine that duke would go through the same decline once k leaves...there is only one dean and there is only one k...beating the poop out of the gutheridge and doherty heels is great for bragging rights and percentages, but it is meaningless...if you bring up the last 20, you have to look at other periods of 20 games, including k against dean...i think roy being in chapel hill has been awesome for the rivalry...if k and roy stay for several more years then this rivalry will take on a whole new meaning...i hate duke...the first words out of my mouth when i was born were "mama", and the second words out of my mouth were "F%*# duke!"...the last few years have killed me, but i also remember the years when i was in chapel hill, and then the mid-90's, when it tilted in our direction...this rivalry has gone through dominate periods on the part of one side, but i think now, it really will be even every single game...k and roy have these programs at the top and we have a lot of awesome games ahead!


i agree but dean owned coach k very early on when he inherited a program that wasnt much of anything.....coach k really got started on the johnny dawkins class....and still mustered a 14-24 record against the great dean.......and 20 -7 against the 3 combined including roy....u guys did win a bit more in the 80's and 90's, but since 99' its been lights out in dukes favor with the victories and all the acc titles......i dont think duke will decline after coach k due to johnny dawkins being groomed to succeed him...........enough of this.......likewise heres to some great games in the future......WHAT do u think about who may leave and stay next year for UNC??????.namely wright???? hansb seems like the type to stay and get all the accolades of staying 4 years and possibly getting his jersey retired???????.......DUKE has definitly RELOADED w/ who we have coming in next year(top 5 class), all we need is to add a pg (jai lucas still being available) and we are stacked once again:) ......great talk

burning soul, i do about 2 shows a year, usually in raleigh, but i have done one in greensboro...there are a number of factors to use when pricing stuff...i usually try to never price below what i paid unless it is something i just want to get rid of...sp's do not really sell all that great unless you have a pretty steady base of people, like zuba does...you will not get away with pricing things high out there at all...most buyers have knowledge of ebay, so you are going to have price according to what things are going for on ebay...the price of tables varies according to whether it is a 1, 2 or 3 day show...check the website for the table fees, and i always take my cards and the most expensive stuff with me saturday night...just bring sheets to cover your table...

By the way, according to goduke.com, here is list of your roster...henderson, paulus, mcroberts, nelson, and thomas were mcdonalds all-americans, scheyer was the illinois player of the year and ranked in the top 30 nationally, mcclure was the connecticut player of the year and zoubek for gods sake was ranked in the top 25 nationally...what team in america would not die for those credentials...TALK ABOUT UNDERACHIEVING...i might have to say that anything other than a final four or elite eight would be a wasted season for you guys, my friend...man, do i love acc basketball season...come on, duke and unc fans get in on this...boogie, we need to get a crowd together for some beers and some basketball!!!!

true but thats only 6 players counting a 7'0 who quite aint there yet physically wise......im not complaining though, but losing jj and sheldon (over 50 pts of scoring and a defensive stopper and their LEADERSHIP)....dockery's IQ is def missing at the point position.will result in what we are experiencing now......yes we have players w/ credentials, but lack to leadership.......we start basically 1 jr 3 soph and 1 frosh............guys that pretty much only had to sit back and enjoy the ride paulus mcrobrts and nelson, now have to BE THE MAN....and they are failing at that task!!!:mad: ..alt5ough paulus has weathered his storm and is playing very good.....were just not closing out close games

ed, you must be kidding...this isn't pennsylvania, my friend...as a kid growing up in nc, we had no professional teams around...acc basketball was all we had locally...I would pull for the heels even if i did not go there...our loyalty to our colleges is equal to the typical steelers fan's love for his/her team...it wasn't until the hornets and then the panthers that we true north carolinians had our own pro teams to pull for

i finally got a chance to go to my first NC State basketball game on Valentine's Day....i saw Maryland beat us but we had tickets right on halfcourt, it was fun as hell even though we lost...i wanted to punch Gavin Grant in the face but i couldnt get close enough...neway hopefully the Pack can beat Va Tech again

last night, the heels played worse than they did against duke...WITNESS THIS PACK FANS...FROM A DIEHARD CAROLINA FAN...I am so happy for kay yow!...WHAT A CLASS ACT...I saw the ceremony naming the court after her, and was almost moved to tears...for her to battle cancer several times, and come back again is amazing...that team was pumped last night, and I did not mind losing on a night like that...it was a great atmosphere, from a girls basketball coach, to see all the young girls with their families there supporting women's basketball was awesome...if any of you get the chance, go see the lady pack versus duke or unc at reynolds next year, and take the kids...it is less than a movie, and I love old school reynolds...it reminds me of being a kid and going to see games there...

glad to be out of boston with a win...the heels actually played a lot better than they did against va tech, and bc played a lot better than against duke...dudley missing those three fro's was huge...of course, he hit a couple of shots with hands in his face...marshall, rice and dudley are tough players...our weaknesses are a lot more obvious the last few games...wright is physically not strong, and gets pushed around...and dribble penetration is not that big of a problem as long as there is help from the other players, and we do not get it enough...we are easily beat off of the dribble, and we have to step in to help if we are going to go far...offensively, we looked really good tonight...if we didn't shoot 54%, we would have lost by 10 b/c BC shot over 50%...good luck to the other nc teams Sunday

here is a recipe for blowing a ten point lead...3-13 fg/3-6 ft versus 6-7 fg/8-8 ft the last 6 minutes of the game...frasor has an open lay up to go up by 12, but does exactly what any high school kid would do who cannot dunk, and that is roll it off of your fingers straight on...i remember being at carolina basketball camp at 10 years old, and being taught to use the backboard...maryland comes down and hits a three, and there begins the comeback...unbelievable...this team has a lot of weaknesses...loads of great, young talent, but lots of weaknesses...began the night in first and by this time next week we could be the 6th seed...of course, i am spoiled rotten b/c i am disappointed in a 24-5 season so far...last year was a lot more fun without any expectations

on a diff note what do u think about the acc schedule........1250 had a great debate about how varied teams schedules are...ie) va playing state miami and wake twice but unc and duke only once.......same with bc kinda.......its hard to say that you are best in the conference when most of your w's were against the bottom feeders in the league.....drop some cupcakes and everyone plays eachother home/away to make the outcome of the reg season champion more respectable

boogie, i have been hearing all of that stuff...the worst of it is not from non-unc fans, it is from the darn unc fans themselves...it is so frustrating...of the 6 losses this year, with the exception of gonzaga, we had a chance to win all of them late in the game...i actually think your boys are going to win...duke is playing better than any other acc team other than maryland...don't get down about the maryland game b/c maryland is really playing well...duke is jelling at the right time...i would much rather struggle during the middle of the season than at the end...i am not sure the heels have enough time to iron out their problems, but we will see...it is going to be a great weekend for acc b-ball

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Kyle Visser scored 17 points and hit the clinching free throws with 10 seconds left as Wake Forest spoiled Virginia's chance to wrap up the Atlantic Coast Conference title outright with a 78-72 win over the Cavaliers on Saturday.

Visser, playing in his final home game, added 10 rebounds and fellow senior Michael Drum scored 16 points for the Demon Deacons (14-15, 5-11) who snapped a two-game losing streak

Sean Singletary scored 25 points for Virginia, but missed a potential tying putback with under 20 seconds remaining, and a driving layup with 10 seconds left. Visser then hit two free throws, and Wake Forest's fans stormed the court a few seconds later to celebrate a rare high point in an otherwise disappointing season.

J.R. Reynolds was held to 11 points on 3 of 14 shooting for the Cavaliers (20-9, 11-5), who were trying to win their first outright ACC title since 1981 -- Ralph Sampson's sophomore season.

Instead, the Cavaliers now must wait to see how No. 8 North Carolina, Virginia Tech and Boston College fare Sunday on the final day of the regular season. All three times can tie Virginia for the regular season crown with wins.

The Cavaliers, picked to finish eighth in the 12-team league in the preseason poll and just two years removed from a 4-12 conference mark, played one of their worst games at the worst time.

Virginia shot 36 percent, committed 14 turnovers, was outrebounded by three and had trouble defending Visser down low.

After seven lead changes and three ties in the second half, Harvey Hale and Jamie Skeen hit consecutive 3-pointers to put Wake Forest ahead 68-64 with 4:18 left.

The Cavaliers got within 74-72, but Singletary missed a putback in the lane after Jason Cain's missed free throws. Skeen then hit two free throws to put Wake Forest ahead by four.

Wake Forest secured the 11th seed for next week's ACC tournament early in the second half when Miami lost to Florida State.

Virginia, playing 40 hours after an emotional win over rival Virginia Tech on Thursday, missed 14 of its first 20 shots as Wake Forest took a 19-15 lead.

But Singletary started to heat up, scoring 15 of Virginia's next 24 points as the Cavaliers rallied to take a 39-35 halftime lead.

The Demon Deacons shot 32 percent in the first half, but stayed in it by pounding the ball inside.

Visser, playing in his final home game, took eight of Wake Forest's 19 first-half free throws. Three Virginia big men had two fouls at halftime trying to guard him, prompting coach Dave Leitao to switch to a zone late in the half.

great game heels...........ugly end w/ the blood and all..........allegiances aside, i think the call in the end against henderson was excessive........he was playing the ball and as tylerh lost the ball he tried to turn while bringing his arms down and redirect himself in the direction of the loose ball, and i guess we all saw what resulted.WIFEY IS A UNC FAN AND SHE THOUGHT THE SAME.......i hope it gets reviewed..DOUBT IT.....acc touney, glad we are not in the bracket of unc and maryland...not looking past ncstate, but our road would be state, va, then gt/ or vatech..........it could be worst............ON A BETTER NOTE, THE ECU LADY PIRATES ARE IN THE CUSA CHAMPIONSHIP GAME.........GO PIRATES!!!!!!!
