GaTech just beat Wake Forest. What the ****?!

Wake is a young team. They made several critical mistakes down the stretch that cost them this game. Tough loss, especially after beating Duke 3 days ago, but you chalk it up to expereience and move on. ACC Road games can be challenging. GA Tech played a good game, but Wake really helped them out as well.

The main ones that I am wanting to get are Aaron Harang, Johnny Cueto, and Edison Volquez. Tom Browning is the pitching coach for the Mudcats and I am going to try to get him as well although I can catch him later in the summer. Todd Benzinger might be there as he is the Dayton Dragons' manager this year and I would like to get him as well.

MLB and Cooperstown both arrived at TRU at Silas Creek Crossing today. No Jackson's and no Fingers. Also, plenty of Gehrig's and Ruth as a Yankee. Of course...no super chase to be found either. Of the reg MLB figs, I still have not seen a Chipper Jones yet. The three pack for Jackie Robinson Day has arrived. Those are nice figs and I picked up one. It is Griffey, Jr., Robinson, and Cano. Did anyone here attend the Ric Flair signing in Elkin this morning at the Schewels grand opening? I went and it was a mess :(

I arrived at 10am right when it started and it was packed. The signing was from 10am-1pm. Me and my two Nephew's waited in line for over two hours. At around 12:15 pm, they cut the line off. I would say around 50 people were in front of me when it was called that didn't make it and probably 300-400 were behind me or more.

It truly didn't bother me, but I really hated it for my Nephew's, they were so excited to meet Flair :( I promised them I would get them to one of his next signings in NC even if I had to pay (this one was free). There were some very upset people when they heard the news that they wouldn't make it. My Nephew's did get to go in and take some real nice pictures of Flair from behind the ropes, so that made them feel somewhat better ;)

By the way, I attended the Reds vs. the Future Reds at Five County Stadium on Friday nigth. The Reds got shelled by the Future. I got some great autos before the game. I caught Eric Davis and got his auto on a baseball and Aaron Harang a mini helmet. Also got David Weathers, Mike Lincoln, Brandon Phillips, Daniel Herrera, Dusty Baker, and even the owner himself Bob Castellini. Overall an excellent auto night. With all of the playoff action, I want to give you my "choke of the week". It was me! On Wednesday afternoon, I was outside of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park chasing autographs of the Louisville Bats which are the Triple A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. If any of you have been to Durham, you know the visiting teams stay at the Marriott so they walk to the game. I watch the street to see who is coming and then I find their cards and/or pictures for their signature. I was standing outside of the entrance and I noticed that someone was coming towards the door from my left. However I really paid little attention as the employee entrance is the same as the visiting team's entrance. This person got approximately four feet from me and I looked to my left. Immediately I realized that I knew this person and my mind started racing. He walked past me and then I knew who it was...Ken Griffey, Sr. I was so stunned that I let him walk past me and never opened my mouth. I never asked him for an autograph and I was the ONLY person standing there. It was a slam dunk but I blew it because I was so stunned to see him. The same thing happened to me at the same place about four years ago when I let Mario Soto walk past me.

As far as comic statues and busts the show was pretty crappy. I did pick these 2 Spider-Man busts up for $40 each + the guy gave me the Ghost Rider for free. And I got a Spider-Man bobblehead for $5. :D

For those interested the Jimmy Raye Youth Football Clinic will be held in Fayetteville,NC at Jack Britt High School on June 30. They usually bring quite a few NFL players to work the clinic, most importantly Tony Dungy is speaking at the lunch they have. The tickets are quite high for the lunch $50, $100 or $200, but I''m sure he will be around at the Youth Football Clinic as well.

I scored some major autos before the Mudcats' game last night. The prize of the evening was Yonder Alonso's auto on an OMLB. He was the Reds' first round draft pick last year out of Miami. I also nailed Juan Francisco, Todd Frazier, and Chris Heisey. They are a lot more accessible when they are in the low minors!

Yeah, they realign the conferences every 5 years. They base it on the ADMs, we were pretty close to dropping down as well. Byrd and Westover both are dropping down to 3-A with Gray's Creek and Southern Lee.

On a side note, I finally broke my SP buying drought. I went into TRU the other day here in Fayetteville and they had the Josh Hamilton. So, I bought that, than saw the Fukudome and Zambrano and being a big Cubs fan I couldn't pass them up.

I just found out today, I get to go and here Tony Dungy speak at the Jimmy Raye Luncheon tommorow. We have to bring some our players down, so I get to go to. I picked up a mini-helmet to hopefully get signed.

This year they were charging $50-$200 because it is a fundraiser/lunch. I went for free because I"m a high school coach and I go with our players. But, they also do a free kids clinic after the lunch which all the pro players come out to. I didn't go this year because I just wanted Dungy and I got him at the lunch.

appst70bull, I have never been to either of those stadiums. I have heard a lot of great things about those stadiums. If you want to get Sandberg at Five County, you have two choices. Get there around 2:30 or so and wait for him to come out of the clubhouse into the stadium. He will sign then. If you miss him then, you are out of luck until approximately 30 minutes before the game. You need to stand beside of the dugout on the right side. He will come out of the dugout before the game and sign for about fifteen minutes. He seemed like a great guy as he would greet people! I think that it is great that he takes time for fans. A lot of players could take some lessons from him. At first, I thought that he had given me a "crappy" auto because it was scribbled and if I did not know it was his autograph, I would have no clue. I got home and looked at the autographs on various websites such as Tri Star, etc. and those look the very same way. I was delighted after seeing that his autographs look the same everywhere.
