An FYI for the NC boardies, the Mudcats begin a five game series with the Tennessee Smokies tomorrow night at Five County Stadium. If you need to get Sandberg, get to the right of the visitors dugout and he will begin signing about 30 minutes before game time. He signed for everyone the last time the Smokies were in town. You can also score him before the game as he comes into the stadium but you have to be there around 1:30 or so.

He signed my August 1994 Beckett Baseball Card Monthly with "HOF '05" under it ! Very nice guy ! He also signed one baseball card for my wife (ie, for me) and each of the kids for their collection !

FenwayP, it was great seeing you and your family. Congrats on all of the Sandberg autos. I scored his auto on a McFarlane base in which his chase figure will be mounted. I was very excited about the Sandberg auto on the base. I scored his auto on a baseball the last time the Smokies were in town. For you NC boardies, I used the packaged base and went to A.C. Moore and purchased a black broad point Deco Color paint pen. It works great on those rough surfaces like the baseball mounts. I actually researched this yesterday morning on this website and it was my first auto on a baseball McFarlane. I was not disappointed with the results.

I finally found me some new football figs. I went to Wal-Mart this morning and they had all the college figs except Russell. I bought a Lewis and a Ward. I also bought a few Legends, Starr and a Sanders. Pretty good last few hours for me. We broke our 19 game losing streak last night 54-0 and that was great too.

Went to Game 3 of the IL playoffs between Durham and Louisville at Louisville's Slugger Field. Great stadium and great fans. It is still not as great as the Durham Bulls Athletic Park though. That is my favorite minor league stadium. I was fortunate enough to witness Yonder Alonso's first International League homer. He is the Reds' big time prospect and might be arriving in Cincinnati some time next season! Now it is time for the Redskins and Giants!!!

On another note it was a horrible weekend for my sports teams. The high school team I coach lost 41-27 on Friday night to Durham Hillside. Than Saturday Appalachian State , Notre Dame and Tennessee all lost. I was pulling for OSU Sat night and they lost. Than today the Panthers got killed and the Bears aren't looking to good either.

Yes appst70bull, I went to the Louisville Slugger Factory several months ago on another trip to Louisville. That was very interesting. It was even more interesting to my wife as she is an engineer. She was amazed with all of the "technical" information that the guides provided and she was watching all of the machinery. Of course I went for the fun of it.

Some back from Cincinnati bumpage. Was fortunate enough to meet Tony Perez on Saturday and also met Joey Votto. Perez signed a baseball for me and put his HOF year on it. I am only missing Concepcion and Geronimo's sig on baseballs from the starting lineup for the '75 and '76 Reds. Votto was only allowed to sign promotional brochures for AT&T Mobility. On Sunday, I met Tom Browning who was at the Reds' Hall of Fame signing autographs. He inscribed his perfect game date on the ball. Earlier in the summer, I had gotten Jeff Reed who is a coach for the Elizabethon Twins of the Appy League so now I have both the pitcher and catcher on the same ball from Browning's perfect game in '88!!!! Of course I went to see the Reds as well. The bullpen gave away the Saturday game and the Reds mauled the Marlins in the rain yesterday. We had great seats for both games!!!

The TRU in Winston-Salem has the new Vintage Hockey figs. I picked up a nice Red Wings' Sawchuk yesterday.

These weekend has just sucked from a sports standpoint. In hockey, my Sabres lost their first game in regulation this season to the Atlanta Thrashers if you can believe that. On Saturday, the Hokies went down to the ATL and lost to the Jackets. Now today my Skins really stunk up the place. I have to say the Skins-Chiefs game was the worst professional game that I have ever seen. Honestly I have seen high school games that were played better than this. Roger Goddell had to be wincing the entire game. Has anyone in the vicinity seen a Leafs' Sawchuk? I am looking for one!!!

The last three weeks I have watched three of the worst played games in NFL history. The Redskins-Chiefs game last weekend was the worst. The Carolina-Buffalo game yesterday ranked right up there and tonight's Skins-Eagles game is in the mix as well.

The e mail was vague. They are going to release information on autograph tickets later. Some of the autographs will be free with a purchase, etc.

After all of these years, I finally broke down and purchased a mini-season ticket plan from the Durham Bulls which includes tickets for the Tampa Bay Rays and Bulls on April 3 at the DBAP. I know the 2009 season is not over yet but I am sure looking forward to the opening of the 2010 season now! Play Ball!!!

They also had 12" Romos and Big Bens.
