HAHA!!! chelsea? absolutely not.......born a magpie.....die a magpie. :p

i think HB comic series 2 is due out in the autumn some time.......
i still cant get the HB comic wave 1 here. :( due to HB stuff not selling that well over here. not much ppl are bringing em in. hence the inflated price :(

The controls to RE4 are much better, not as clunky and I prefer the semi first-third person view. Its coming to the PC in September I think.

Hey atriot, I'm buying less now then when you were still in UK due to limited space. I've had to cut down on Marvel Legends and so I buy more comics, hahaha. I'm still getting that Marvel Figurine Collection though £5.99 is still a hefty price. More selling then buying on eBay but back in the swing again. The only fever I have is hayfever.

Can I crash that Malaysian Thread some time ;)
what comics are u following now. i am just getting the regular Civil war...cos of McNivens art. i totally forgot about the figurine thing! :o mind posting your collection so far up when u can? would love to have a look at it. ;)

sure u can. but i warn u...it

I'm currently also reading Civil War, which is a damn good read. Its politically driven without the bore, I'm a big Millar fan although his dialogue inserts become far too recycled and Steve McNiven has got to be the best breakthrough artist, period. I'm also getting tons of others, its a big long list of 30 or so including 52, New Avengers, Moon Knight, Green Lantern etc etc. Keeps me busy each week.

No problem, man. Here art thou collection of Marvel Figurines:

i'm just about to start reading civil war (bought the 1st two issues online)......i'm not that up to speed on comics, so i don't know what kind of background info i should have going in, but....i just couldn't resist jumping on the band wagon.....heard nothing but good things about this series.

yikhaichan
06-19-2006, 11:34 AM
Not much background reading needed to understand what is going on. You may need to wikipedia some of the new characters such as Young Avengers who appear in issue #2 and why Peter Parker is working for Tony Stark. Minor details that shouldn't get in the way of the overall changing of the Marvel Universe's status quo. Another tip is to try not to read the "Metro", that free paper that you get at train stations. They spoilt issue #2 by releasing a whole article on the ending.

Graham
06-19-2006, 11:43 AM
i started reading amazing spiderman a couple of months back, so i knew all about peter working for stark.......and i'd already had the ending spoilt......it was on teletext the other day as i was scrolling through some pages.

Just got back from uni for my results, I received a 2:1 for BSc Computer Science. Pretty chuffed considering I hated the final year and the exams that went with it, so much work that its put me off working in the IT sector. I don't graduate until 29th August but I need to look for a job in the process to satisfy my spending.

But still, where is everyone?

McNiven has done a bit since he started. The first 7 issues of Marvel Knight's 4 and the first two issues of Ultimate Secret springs to mind. Definately pick up Moon Knight, the art is amazing, especially the extremely graphic and brutal fight in issue 2.

I actually quite like Justice series 5, will get Green Arrow and Martian Manhunter, Lex Luthor's suit looks funky. I need those Ed McGuinness figures, hahaha. Future Superman looks tight.

Thanks Graham and Gaz, I got nothing to worry about now, hahaha. When are your results out, UKGaz?

yo yiki..I have been waiting more on pre-orders than anything..but yesterday my sideshow premium format Jason came..its bloody fantastic..after that its cult classics and that me done for a while..too much stuff and very little remaining space..gah.
and how aboot yourself?.Oh and goodluck with your results everyone who's awaiting them.

06-20-2006, 04:45 PM
Sideshow premium format Jason? Wow, that must have put you back a lot but it must be a hell of a good looking piece, any chance of some imagery?

I know the feeling about space, but money is the main issue, hahaha. After selling a bit on eBay, I've just used that money to bid on a few odd bits which I'll show you when they arrive. Other then that, it's DC Direct and Resident Evil and trying to fill some of those odd bits that I've missed such as SOTA Street Fighter.

The only preorder I'm currently waiting on is a Sideshow Anakin Skywalker. Those Order of the Jedi 12" look awesome and the wait for them to actually arrive to the UK is killing me...

That Jason looks awesome, feedme. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford Premium Formats but just looking at some of them makes me wanna just screw my savings over. A good size too.

I don't have many Sideshow items but some of their upcoming items look incredible. Darth Maul may be coming toward Xmas period but there are a few other Jedi pieces that could tide you over until then.

Ah, the RE Anniversary figures, I want those as well. Hopefully we'll get to see some prototypes come SDCC. They'll probably be in the same poses as the control art released but thats fine with me.

Thanks, Daywalker. How have your buying habits been keeping up?

Daywalker UK
06-21-2006, 06:47 AM
Buying is hard for me at the moment as the house is onthe market (ready for our move to the Shetland islands) so ALL my stuff is packed away :( Really missing it now.
I have managed to squeeze a couple of Puppet masters in but they'll go straight into a box in the loft so won't be able to appreciate them until we find a new home!
The likelihood is we'll rent for a hile too so that means boxes in storage and no collection to display for months.
It's not good.
Still, there's the worls cup to enjoy (?) at the moment, plenty of sunshine and my birthday in a couple of weeks... it's not all bad.

I'm gonna sell stuff, yes I am but I need boxes and reasonabley sized ones too. Gonna sell some loose impluse buys, but also my Predator Triumphant micro Statue and my Predator Skull kit, so boxes of a good size. Anyone know where to get boxes? the Post Office has crappy ones.

yikhaichan
06-21-2006, 07:35 AM
What I usually do for boxes is either recycle the ones that I get when I purchase stuff off eBay or I check with a supermarket and ask if they have any medium sized boxes available, which is easy for me since I work part time at one.

Daywalker UK
06-21-2006, 07:39 AM

Hey peeps, I don't know how useful this bit of information will be as I don't think there are alot of Londoners but the London Film and Comic Con is happening next weekend at Earl's Court. I went last year (check out this post (http://board.spawn.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2945372&postcount=946) from my mini haul back then) and it was pretty cool checking out some of the stars and finding some figures for much cheaper than retail. I'll be going again this year to see what kind of a haul I manage to get, hehe.

The website (http://www.londonfilmandcomiccon.com) for it is linked so take a look.

Nice box set, knightjar. I like the DVDs that are kept in its head. Must be pretty big for something that carries DVDs

Ok, more RE hauling, this time shipped from the US. I used to love Palisades line of RE figures but they were hard to find over here because retailers under ordered and they sold out fast. I managed to get Zombie Cop & Lick for cheaper than it was here including international shipping. Still missing 2 figures from the whole Palisades set now minus variants. Almost there...

Lots of history on the RE figures huh? NECA seem to be getting it right at the moment, both series are incredibly popular.

Play.com have a summer sale on at the moment and amongst some other bargains I found:

CC Bubba Ho-Tep £5.99 Dlvd
Spawn the dark ages i.023 £7.99 Dlvd

The Spawn inparticular is an awesome price as postage alone must be half of that? Mine is on it's way :)

My i.023 arrived yesterday :) Awesome set and it'll look sweet with my other Hellspawns gathered around it.
Word of warning for picky MOCer foccers though, it comes with a cardboard sleeve wrapped in parcel paper, not a box. Was in very good shape still but not what I would describe as Mint packaging. Finally I got a haul after like 10 years of nothing, okay maybe it was more like 2 or 3 months, but it was far too long. I got some money through, the extra from my festival money (I'm going to Bloodstock Open Air tomorrow, wooo!!!!) so I popped into FP and actually left with stuff!!!

Here be the list:
Street Fighter 2 issue 4A
Cable and Deadpool issue 29
Death Note volume 6
Marcy the skelanimal, a gift for my girlfriend
Toy Fair issue 109 (I missed a few, rightly pissed at that)
and, the better bits,

2 Trigun trade figures, Legato and Wolfwood. Been waiting for these to pop up for a long time, a long time indeed. I got the last 2 they had out, and they were blind box, so that'll mean I'll inevitabley get some doubles when I buy more.

Ooh, I also picked up a new model from the Games Workshop, a commander for my Emperor's Children, this is another thing I've been waiting for, 3 years it's taken GW to make this damn guy, 3 bloody years, but he's well worth the wait.

Ah it feels good to haul again.

Right I'm off to Birmingham to get very drunk and havea good time.

Hey y'all. Havne't been in much lately because, well, i haven't been getting anything :( Not because i can't afford it, but because nothing is out i like, apart from the on going SOTA SF figures. I have bought one BIG thing though that should be here any day now, pics when it arrives :)

It was indeed! I'm working on getting Vincent next... but thanks!

Coolness, good luck with that. The Kaiyodo statues are exceptionally nice.

2 Trigun trade figures, Legato and Wolfwood. Been waiting for these to pop up for a long time, a long time indeed. I got the last 2 they had out, and they were blind box, so that'll mean I'll inevitabley get some doubles when I buy more.

What I tend to do with trading figures is go through eBay either to find the ones I want or just buy the set. Unfortunately, most of the time they're imported from Asia so shipping hurts so I just end up buying the set. Are these the !StoryImageFigure! ones? They were released earlier last year as individual window boxed figures...

Can't wait to see your BIG haul, Hazard. Looking forward to it.

Already saw it this afternoon, good movie, I really liked it, though it wasn't as good as "Superman" or "Batman Begins".

Got the Star Wars Order of the Jedi 12" Anakin Skywalker for FPI through the post today. Sideshow are doing so well, this figure is amazing apart from a few things here and there. Its a real biatch to pose so I've kept it simple for now, I love the outift and the accessories as well as the collector friendly packaging, I really can't wait to get Obi Wan Kenobi. Everyone should get at least one of the OotJ figures:

That doesn't sound good at all, nothing mainland should take that long. I think its time to visit you local sorting office and if there's nothing there, another replacement or refund. You're in a good position if you paid by Paypal especially if neither have a proof of sending. I don't agree with it as a seller but nowadays Paypal seem to enjoy screwing over sellers who don't use secure sending.

well, i've got a computer now, so i managed to get on ebay and contact the sellers......it's too much of a coincidence losing 3 parcels in a row. if i get replacements sent this time, and they don't arrive (it's infitity_uk, a seller i've used many many times, so i know they aren't screwing me over), i know somethings up with the postman.

3 weeks? if they delivered it on a bicycle it wouldnt take that long. as u said the seller is quite a big one and i've bought from them too soo i dont think it's their fault. maybe if asking the post office doesnt work out u could assk them to claim from the insurance refund (covered in postage) and refund you your money back....

Anyone know if you can get cans of air over here in the UK and how much the cost? I can't be bothered to dust off my figures.

3 weeks is a long time so I agree with atriot that it must be the Post Office screwing up.

£4.99 for the S24 boxset is a fantastic deal but its ashame I don't have any more room for spawn figures (I may have to sell off a few complete but loose later down the line...)
I'm tempted to order those Batman Begins Batarangs but then I wouldn't know what to do with them. Its just a cool thing to have and probably hang whenever I get a new place.

Gar, I have returned from the lands of the south. Well Bloodstock was freakin' excellent, met the band I went down there to see Turisas, got some pics with them and my ticket signed by all of them. T-shirts, vinyls, and Cds aswell, no toys, obviously, maybe they'll add that stall next year:cool:

Bad points, far too hot and English people not understanding me and calling me terrible things, tsk tsk, well we gave it back as good as we got if not better.

All in all, best weekend in a long while.

I need help from some UK board members who are familiar with the toy hunting situation in London!

A friend of mine will be there for a weekend in a few weeks and she agreed to do a little shopping for me.
Are there some good comic shops which are not too expensive?
How about regular stores? Are they worth a look?

I`m mostly into Marvel Legends (plus X-Men, SMC...), movie figures, MOTU (especially the stactions) and I`m kind of interested in Transformers, since they are very hard to come by around here.
Prices are are a little high around here (ML are available only in comic shops, 12 € minimum usually) for most of this stuff. Is it any better in London?

Thanks in advance! :)

Hey Scofield, I go to Central London alot so I know most of the places that sell the stuff you are looking for. Although still expensive, Forbidden Planet on Shaftesbury Avenue is your best bet for all of those (apart from Transformers where I know you might get some good deals). FP London does have some good deals on some Marvel figures while the lowest you might be expected to pay for a new ML is €13 while movie figures are more expensive (€18-20). PM me and I'll try and hook you up with the addresses before she goes.

Have you got the new Cult Classics yet? I only just saw the Shaun of the Dead (standard) on Saturday. Having only just saw them at SDCC, I didn't realise they came out that soon.

Why was I up in London on Saturday and not the usual Thursday? Well, Mike Carey was doing a signing at The Orbital. Comic fans will know him as the new X-Men writer as well as upcoming Ultimate Fantastic Four while his past work includes Hellblazer and Lucifer. Astonishing X-Men aside, I haven't been interested in an X-Men book since Morrison left and the team he has is awesome: Rogue, Mystique, Sabertooth, Iceman and Cannonball. He's a really nice and humble guy, we had a good talk since the queue hadn't picked up yet but it was great to meet him. Got an extra copy of X-Men #188 (his first issue on X-Men) signed, and as a joke, I asked him to put "1 of 1 - UNIQUE" on it, hahahaha

Hmmm, the Cinema Store has the Scarred Alien at the reduced price of £19.95. Either way, I have neither the space nor interest for either.

But Play.com has some good deals. Also, anyone want a NECA 18" Endo or Jack Sparrow? Argos have them now reduced at £24.99. Not a major saving compared to the prices elsewhere though.

I keep forgetting if there are any UK boarders in this thread that are still into Marvel Legends but quick heads up: Walmart Wave has landed in Woolworths! Yep, the Giantman wave which was expected to show up in ASDA (part of the Walmart family) has shown up in Woolies from earlier reports. From internet chatter, it hasn't hit all Woolworths yet so I was curious:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v146/yikhai/action%20figure%20demo/IMG_1468.jpg

As you can see, no price tags but still plainly visible next to their £39.99 Monsters and Yong Avengers sets. The ones that were there (minus the Kitty) were Sentry Variant, Antman (as pictures), Sentry, AOA Wolverine and Sabertooth. Either someones either picked up Thor, Captain Britain and Warbird or they're still out back due to lack of room. The only hoax about this is that they came just a week before payday

Don't worry knightjar, going through the UK boards, everyone seems to be restraining from buying the boxsets until Woolies have reduced their prices for them. Woolworths supposedly imported their own sets hence the not seeing them anywhere else yet. I don't think parents in their right mind would buy a set of Monsters or sidekicks for their kids, not for that price anyway. If noone buys, then I'd expect to see the price slashed come the next sale. I'll keep you posted.

Oh right, I re-read your post and now it makes sense. You've raised a smart business minded one ;)

My local (large) Woolies did have them at £39.99 and arrived a few weeks back. I thought it was a UK exclusive so I took a photo just check on boards if it was but i found out it was also a US exclusive. I first found the reduction at a much smaller Woolworths so they might be attempting to shift them to as many as possible to get rid of them.

Wasn't going to get it originally but I always had a bit of a soft spot for the unleashed figs and as I've picked up the best buy Vader and Sidious/Yoda I thought I may as well grab it at that price. Got the last one but there are a few Obi's left so had one put by until some paypal funds clear. Think I'll give the 4 figs their own shelf eventually, should look quite cool.

Been selling off alot of odd bits lately on eBay. Alot of the Civil War stuff is delayed due to an art delay on the main book. Civil War Frontline is one of those delayed books along with Amazing Spider-man, Fantastic Four and Punisher: War Journal. Books that tie in but don't contain spoilers with the main book such as Wolverine, CW Young Avengers/Runaways and New Avengers have been unaffected so far.

Also at Woolworths, if you spend £10 or more on Star Wars products you get to own one of the modern Vintage Collection Dath Vader for free. If I remember correctly, they were £15 at FP London and Cinema Store when they were released to retail. Not a bad deal.

Yeah. I pre-ordered SOTA SF Round 2 with them, months before they were out. Around the time they were out over here they started popping up on eBay. I emailed FP and they said it will be a couple of days before they get them into their warehouse. That was the last time i pre-ordered anything with them because i ended up paying more for the full round at FP, where i could of got them days earlier and for cheaper from eBay

I've never had problems with FP International's online store but thats because I'm selective with what I get from them. The last full set I pre-ordered off them was Resident Evil 4 series 1 which came out in the other FP stores out in London a few weeks earlier than FPI.

For certain items, it does take them longer to obtain but the last single items I obtained off them came on time, if not early such as Sideshow Anakin Skywalker 12" and NECA RE4 RPD Leon SSDC Exclusive which I got from them last week. I don't know about the CC4 though, they came out ages ago, strange that you didn't get them already from them.

Where the Hell is everyone? This used to be the liveliest thread on the board. Not that that's saying much these days.

My figure buying has all but ended really. Not because i've lost interest in figure collecting, but because there's nothing out i like. Apart from the ongoing SOTA Street Fighter figures that is. Oh that reminds me, i won this 5 Goukens auction on eBay ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280030206337&ssPageName=ADME:B:BCA:UK:11 ) :D, havne't got them yet though. The seller is a member of the Action-Figure.com message boards and his eBay account has been suspended because someone used a stolen credit card to pay for one of his auctions

*bump to keep this thread alive*

no figures for me since attack of the living dead.....cancelled my CC4 order from forbidden planet, because they were taking so long, and i thought i could find them cheaper elsewhere. then what do they get in stock 2 days later? yeah.....but still, i'll probably find them cheaper on ebay in a couple of weeks time when i have some spare cash.

all i've spent money on lately is gigs, comics, dvd's and games. just started out on city of heroes, which is pretty good. don't know if i'll keep it up for long though.....i can see it getting a little boring, but we'll see......saw disturbed on friday, wasn't much of a fan beforehand, but damn....they were good.

Gaz, nice score, man. The "Hero" figures from the Face-Off sets look pretty good. I only want a regular Captain America though and not the Red Skull so much so a bit of a dilema.

I've been on a slow-yet-steady hauling phase with a regular intake of DC Direct figures (Green Lantern, Justice League & Infinite Crisis), anime-related figures and gashapon (Fullmetal Alchemist Play Arts & Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny) and the SDCC RE4 RPD Leon S Kennedy for £11.99.

Hi Yikhaichan
Don't know if you caught this thread?

http://board.spawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336348

Thanks for sorting that! Funnily enough, a pack has now turned up in my local Woolies despite their swearing blind that they wouldn't be getting any.

Hahaha, I didn't see that. No problems, knightjar. Glad you liked the set, my local Woolies still have a load of YA and Monsters sets so they must have imported too much and trying to ship them off to as many stores as possible.

looks like no more cheap toybiz marvel legends.......

http://board.spawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=339056

while that probably means the likes of woolworths, asda and toys r us aren't gonna be getting any in, there is still a chance that comic shops can get them in.......

I'm just glad i don't collect the ML stuff, i feel for the guys that do :(

Anyway, went to FP yesterday, just to have a general look around, and hope they had the new TCM Begining boxset in (they didn't). But i noticed something on the top shelf of one of the comic displays...could it be, i though....yes it was... UDONs SF Ultimate Edition book  I have been wanting this book since it came out, never thought FP would have it. It was a bit expensive though - £34, but i had to have it :D *sorry for the big pics*

Also, got this today from Greenfire.co.uk -

Didn't know anywhere actually based in the UK sold SF varients :)

Oh, and about the big pics. I just got a new camera, a Sony Cybershot. The macro mode is awesome, been taking some neat pics of my collection. If you don't mind, i might post some of them later, don't think anyone here is on 56k anymore are you? ;)

Hello Hello :)
Feels like i've been away a lot longer than 2 weeks? Anyway... settled into new house, job and island now. Internet should be up and running next tuesday (6 Meg connection apparently?... I'll believe it when I see it!) so hopefully i'll be able to haul again soon :(
Worst thing is, we can only get a lease on our house until July so ALL my stuff is STILL in bloody storage!

man.....i don't know what i'd do if all my stuff was packed away.......good luck with that man.

glad you're settling in ok...... :)

Hello, just wanted to pop in to the UK thread, I'm currently in Japan, its 5:15 and I can't sleep anymore. So how is everyone?

Hope you are settling down well in your new home, Daywalker

I want that SF Ultimate Edition, seen it at various comic shops but I wouldn't be willing to pay 30 pounds for it. I think it may be cheaper online so I'll have to check.

The only haulage I've done so far is a Nintendo DS Lite (Enamel Blue - unavail in UK so far) and a few Gundam kits. Going to a Bandai outlet and then central Tokyo today so maybe more interesting stuff (like maybe a Death Note, hahaha)

See you guys

Not much hauling from me recently since theres little that i got intrest in but i managed to find the Marvel Legends Face Off Series including all varients at a Youngsters World i dont know if thats a local store or if theres more, i picked up Captain America and Red Skull. Also seen reports of them being in Toys R Us now too.

I also had a flick through the Woolworths catalogue and it has the Marvel Icons series one as well as the Mojo Series and the Walmart/Woolworths/ASDA exclusive series.

Has anyone seen the new Transformers toys about, the ones based on the G1 classics from way back when? FP has diddly squat up here.

Oh and yes I finally bought a toy after like 3 months of nothing! I spotted Toynami's new Valkeries in FP last week, the 5" (ish, maybe 6) Japanese ones, hence why they're Valkeries and not Veritechs. They're pretty badass.

If you can get me a colour Phase II Jake for a good price I'd be hugely appreciative KJ. I've seen the others for around £13/£14 delivered on the bay so it really depends on the shop price I guess?

Not sure how useful this is going to be - they have the colour Phase 1 (the one-eyed sculpt) and the pale Phase 2 (the two-eyed sculpt). They're 12.99 (may have been 11.99 - my memory is playing tricks on me now - all I remember was £12!). I guess postage is going to be at least a couple of quid on top of that. Let me know if you want me to get one.

By the way, did anyone watch TORCHWOOD last night? Surprisingly good I thought. They certainly pulled out all the stops to make it clear it was an adult spin-off!
