AotLD (Attack of the living dead :))

Knightjar - thanks fella, appreciate you looking for me. Really wanted the colour phase II Jake (it's the only way my mixed set will look 'right') and it appears that once postage is added they're gonna be around the same price that they pop up on Ebay for anyway. Guess i'll just wait it out. Was lucky enough to get the other two from a US boardie (basically 2 for the price of 1).
Zero hauling for me still, getting itchy fingers now though as i have a nice sum of paypal accumulated... now do i go buy toys or save it and get my buddy to buy Gunner Hanson's autograph for me at NEC memorabilia, along with some well-priced figures?
Not sure I can wait another month!!! :o

It's all good Atriot, lovely place, lovely people. Can't imagine ever going back South now. I think the next move will be in a few good years and will take us a lot further afield.
I really want to splurge on some stuff but the prospect of Leatherface's autograph is reigning me in!!!

By the way, did anyone watch TORCHWOOD last night? Surprisingly good I thought. They certainly pulled out all the stops to make it clear it was an adult spin-off!

I did! Pretty good - slightly bizarre second episode though lol. Definitely worth keeping an eye on. I like Ianto - I feel he is a rather underappreciated member of the team. :p

I have a huge box waiting for me at home (no jokes about my gf, please). My Balrog was delivered yesterday. I was out on the beers until late though, and didn't trust myself to open it in an alcoholic haze at 1 in the morning. So it's staying sealed until I get home this evening. Excited! :D

FP really let me down on this one. I've had it pre-ordered with them since the day it was announced (what, a year ago?). I've waited ever since and they still haven't received them, even though it's been available elsewhere for a couple of months now. So I cancelled my order and picked it up cheaper on the 'bay.

knightjar
10-25-2006, 08:08 AM
how much are they going for there?
its not that cheap here either sadly.
around 11 quid for the figure.
shipping there should be around 6 quid.

Thanks! Sounds like they're a little cheaper in the shops there, but with the postage I think that's pretty much what I'd have to pay for one here. Damn expensive for small figs.

Got CC5 Tobin Bell Jigsaw & Lecter yesterday....

Graham
10-29-2006, 01:19 AM
sweet......hopefully forbidden planet will get them in soon......although lecter is the only one i'm passing on from this series......

disappointing news about the AOTLD exclusives though.....the B/W set went on sale last night. $50 for the three all packaged together, with interchangeable heads and all the accessories done in the same colour scheme.....but it's only available on mezco direct and therefore unavailable outside the US......so, i ask on the board about it, and discover that the club mez glow in the dark set will also be unavailable outside the US.....

oh well.....i was wondering how i was going to afford them all, but now i'm not getting them at all......

Daywalker UK
10-29-2006, 01:48 PM
That sucks.... I'd drop $50 right now for that set. I bet they rock incredibly hard.
Cool that they put interchangeable heads in too, that's a thoughtful touch.

So, A US boardie has ordered the B&W AoTLD exclusives for me and will ship them on when they arrive with him in a couple of weeks :) Had pretty much given up on these so I'm really stoked that they're on the way. Now when do the radioactive exclusives go on sale??? ;)

Oh, picked up a couple more Puppet masters too from Ebay... love them little fellas, can see many years of colelcting ahead of me with those.

Freddy_Lives
11-08-2006, 08:52 AM
Hey,

Has anyone else found CC5 yet? I'm only after Lecter and Leatherface and not many people seem to have them at the moment. I keep checking Forbidden Planet in Wolverhampton but no luck. I always think Forbidden Planet will be first to get them being a big national company but they're so slow with new items.

Rant over.;)

*EDIT* Just seen that Play.com have CC5. Has anyone ever bought figures from there before. DVDs I've had no problems but I don't want to order figures and then find out they send them in a jiffy bag!

Heading to Memorabilia at the end of the month aswell. I want to pick up Gunnar Hansen's autograph.

Daywalker UK
11-08-2006, 09:51 AM
Play.com send figures in a jiffy bag. Boxsets get a fairly flimsy cardboard 'skin'. If you're a MOC collector I'd try to get them elsewhere. Although Play do tend to be the cheapest I have found in past searches.

Graham
11-08-2006, 10:18 AM
yeah......they're not the best for packaging. bought a S23 boxed set from them (granted it was only £4.99 delivered), and it was just wrapped in brown paper. which in a couple of places was taped to the box. bought a couple of family guy figures and they were shipped in jiffy bags. there was some damage to the edges of the cards, but they were in overall decent shape when they arrived.

also....still no CC5 in my neck of the woods either. forbidden planet stores are usually pretty quick with new stock. the website is always WAY behind though these days.

Finally managed to get an Attack of the Living Dead Colour Jake!
£9.00 Dlvd on Ebay :)
That completes my loose collection of these (my favourite line of the year from any manufacturer) and my B&W exclusives have been shipped to the US boardie who ordered them for me. Should be here in a couple of weeks hopefully.
I also bagged a pewter 10th Anniversary Spawn on the bay, been watching htem come on in droves over the past month and wasn't sure whether it was worth a double dip or not just for the pewter paintjob. Finally gave in and will keep this one MIP (or mint in bag at least) along with the other few exclusive spawns and CC figures I own.
At a bit of a loss what to aim for next though now that I have my Jake secured?
Puppet masters are still silly prices.

Did anyone else notice how much the 2nd wave of Doctor Who figures are fetching now? Sycorax leader and Moxx of Balhoon have both topped 20 notes on the Bay.
Rose and Slitheen are hitting £30 too. These were warming pegs (except rose) before the manufacturers recalled them prior to the release of wave 3.
I'm almost tempted to pick up a few of the new figures and put them away for a bit then scalp them on the Bay next year when the new series begins?

EDIT: Yay, Pewter 10th Anniversary Spawn was waiting for me on my return home today... I'm so tempted to pry those staples open :( Must resist!!!

Yah I checked there, but they arent very big, and aren't great quality :\

Im really stumped. Argos and Ikea are usually my first stop, but there just seems to be nothing decent at the moment. Do Homebase and DIY stores do glass storage like that?

I've not seen any there before, but in all honesty Im usually just nipping in to get something to do the place up with, so I dont really look around.

I managed to pick up a Gold Pinhead and a Japanese Jester off US Bay today for just under £20 delivered. Really pleased about that as it's two figures I don't have any version of and to top it off they're both exclusives.
It's a good day.

mdixony3k - Thats a nice Mephisto but I'm gonna have to steer clear, really need to concentrate on the ones I don't have yet. Let meknow if you come across any more though.

Got my Shaun of the Dead from play.com today. Quite impressed with the sculpt, Neca are getting better and better IMO. As expected from Play the box is crushed to crap. Not even certain I'll be keeping it as I really need to streamline my collection now. May just reduce it to Spawn, Aliens/Preds, McF Monsters 1 and Zombies?
We'll see....Did order CC HoF Jason today though for £5,99 from Play.com!

Also got a couple of new puppet masters from the states turned up today. Gold Pinhead and Japanese Jester. Love 'em both. Hannibal Lecter should arrive tomorrow, another impulse purchase I'm not sure I need!

The packaging from Play.com does leave a lot to be desired. I've ordered the CC HoF Jason myself;£5.99 is too good a price for a great looking figure.

You won't hear any argument from me.

The trouble with trading stuff with US boardies is that many of them are scared off by the prospect of shipping internationally. SOme think it costs a fortune, others think it's too much hassle, many are worried about stuff getting dmaged or going missing.
There are a few who will trade overseas though so don't give up on 'em :)

I bought stuff, finally, Alternators all round! Yes, I've been bitten by the Transformers bug.....again, so I went out and bought a massively massive 3 alternators (hey, it's a 100% increase for me). So, I went into Woolworths and spotted some, the usual £19.99 each, Swindle then a Dead End. Swindle is freakin' awesome, my favourite until......I went on eBay, and saw someone selling a loose Wheeljack. I wanted one for a while but I'd forgotten all about it, so I tracked one down at Argos, and teh awesomeness was to be had!

So yeah, ain't it strange when you buy toys you're looking for in regular shops? I sure think it is.

Next up is either the Shockblast Woolies have in (I'm not buying the Prime Argos have, I have my 20th Anni, thats all I need), or a takara Masterpiece Starscream.

BritishSpawn

there was talk of the new 20th prime and the general view was that it sucked compared to the takara MP-01 or the first 20th Anni prime (which are virtually the same). You can get the earlier ones on eBay for less than £69.99

On a buying note, I just got my Alternator Hot Rod through the post yesterday, it's freakin' awesome, pics will follow shortly.

Yeah Ive bought from Asia, and it really fluctuates. A dvd I bought took nearly two months to arrive, whereas another DVD from the same seller using the same shipping ended up at mine in about 2 weeks.

If anyones done any buisness with HLJ let me know, thanks.

Nice haul Graham, do you get most of your stuff from a comic store or online?

Nice haul Graham, do you get most of your stuff from a comic store or online?

i'd say about 2 thirds is online.....mostly ebay. i don't really get the chance to go to my forbidden planet that often. all the stuff in that pic came from ebay.

speaking of online......play.com have the 3D posters (well, some of them).....i just ordered NOES. £17.99 with free shipping. hopefully it'll arrive unscathed. this could be a bit of a gamble.

and while i'm here, have a coupla collection pics.....my new "themed" collections.....

Nice collection. Do you have the 12" talking Shaun? I like the figure, but i was a bit disappointed witht aht flimsy base. My Shaun leans backwards really badly, had to get some blue-tac under his shoes just to keep him up.

You had any trouble with that?

Graham

don't have the 12" shaun yet.....hopefully some time this week i'll pick him up. my regular shaun has been fine since i got him.

MateriaHunter
02-12-2007, 05:17 PM
The 12" seems to have a lot of weight of the upper torso (because of the batteries & speakers and that) and it seems to make it lean, hes only supported by two tiny little pegs in his shoes. Only bad thing I can say about it though.

Oh, except for no 'Ow' after 'bang them in the head, that seems to work'

My Toys R Us got a shipment of Spidey Origins along with a few 12"ers just the other day, so keep an eye out at any TRU's around you,

Was tempted to pick some up....but I passed.

Oh and how much do Revoltechs pass for in speciality stores around you? Went to my local one, and they had Dante and Shin Getter priced up at £30 (separatly!)

Graham
03-20-2007, 04:27 AM

MateriaHunter
03-20-2007, 05:11 AM
At HLJ you can get them at a third of that, shipped! I mean, whose going to pay £30 for a Star Wars sized figure?

Its ridiculous, I begrude paying £20!

And talking of speciality stores, how many do you have around you?

I have two, Forbidden Planet and an independant one called The Last Picture Show. Unfortunatly both of them are tiny, so they hardly have anything good in stock.

Graham
03-20-2007, 06:57 AM
i have two also......forbidden planet, and travelling man.......forbidden planet is a fairly decent size and always has a wide selection, but travelling man is woeful when it comes to figures. i've bought a few things from there, but if you're looking for anything specific it's more than likely gonna be a waste of time. they're about 90% comics, 9% role-playing, 1% figures.....plus the staff are pretty much all wankers.....

there was also universal export....a tiny store in an indoor market, which had some great deals on some older figures, but alas that one disappeared not long after travelling man opened.

if you're into wrestling figures though you're in luck, because not only do forbidden planet have a huge range, but we also have the Newcastle Wrestling Store.....which is dedicated to wrestling merch.....my brother loves it.....

The Newcastle Wrestling Shop? sounds pretty sweet, can you tell a few things about it?

it's a small shop in a very quiet shopping centre in the middle of newcastle.......it's pretty much all wrestling gear. figures, t-shirts, dvd's, replica belts.....they also sell signed merch.....at one point they had a ringside chair signed by a bunch of WWE guys. they also sell tickets for the local wrestling shows. i think they also manage to get some guys to make personal appearances when they're in the area for a show.

03-20-2007, 03:00 PM
forbidden planet......decent selection, but unless you have a standing order, or you're quick off the mark, then you'll probably miss a lot of titles......

travelling man....not as popular as forbidden planet, but they do have a wider selection. this is much more of a comic shop than forbidden planet. they bag and board everything, and it's a lot tidier, and better organised.

I saw the boxset of RD figures at Forbidden Planet Manchester this morning, the set was £39.99 i think, but i could be wrong, i looked at that many things.

I picked up Hannibal Version 2.... they had 5, 4 were awful with bad paint but i managed to get one that was spot on.......

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v68/lavjoricso/hannibal2.gif
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v68/lavjoricso/hannibal3.gif

If your gonna get him only buy him in person. The paint was to hit and miss to blind buy over the internet.

hey, that's not too bad.......not a fan of the movie or anything, but that looks better than the proto pics IMO.....

It really is better than the proto pics. I didn't intend to buy this version, i was more than happy with the first figure, but when i saw one with good paint i had to get it.

I wasn't impressed with the RD figures though, they all had shiney faces and suits with the odd dab of matt black here and there.

Just depends on your tastes

Hey Soil,
Wow, didn't think this thread was still alive. Been lurking but not posting since my primary figure collection has changed focus. How's the Marvel Figurine Collection?

I love Play.com sales but doesn't it make you wonder that if they have so much recent stuff especially "gadgets" for sale at around cost price, then someday down the line they're gonna scrap merchandise altogether? Anyway, I don't care so much, grab the bargains while I can. I usualy check out the NECA figures, any good Marvel or DC figures I'm missing as well as FX lightsabers and maquettes for £30 or less.

Anything catch your eye?

Soil

Yeah ive never bought a figure of play.com, only a CD, only one
But i check it daily

My Marvel figurine collection is coming along, but its getting hard to afford, gonna have to limit who i buy

yikhaichan
07-02-2007, 09:32 AM
Yeah, I had to limit who I bought to start with so alot of the early ones I didn't bother getting. If you're not on subscription, you can order old ones from Forbidden Planet International so if you earn some extra cash later, you can always go back and complete your collection, which I may do sometime down the line.

From Play.com, I can see the Iron Spider is on sale but I'm still waiting for them to but the Hasbro ML, NECA's Lara Croft and RE4 Los Illuminados monks and DC Superheroes Supergirl on sale *sigh* maybe next time.

Unfortunatley ive just had to cancel my subscription
My last figurine was number 47: Emma Frost

So i think its Forbidden Planet from now on which is in the next town from me

No comic statues for sale though

Some prices are still a bit high for my liking but its the best sale ive seen so far

Lara has been reduced to £7.99. Can't see her getting much cheaper than that TBH.

Hey guys, what´s up?
I´d like to ask you something in case any of you can help me.
I´m looking for the Tamiya weathering set "A" but I cannot find it here in Spain so just wondering if any of you could find it there in the UK, buy it and send it to me, I guess shipping cost from the UK will be cheaper than from the USA.

Here´s a pic:

http://img131.imageshack.us/img131/4765/b11os3.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

In case you can find it please let me know how much it is there and the shipping cost by sending me a PM and I will think about it.

Thanks a bunch and sorry for the off-topic...

KarenRoss, I think the above eBay deal is the better than the Amazon one as there isn't any free shipping for orders at that price. Just make sure you verify your paypal account, seems that they don't accept unverified, hence all the negative they've received from buyers who can't read.

yikhaichan
07-06-2007, 02:36 AM
Yeah, the shops called "Orbital Comics (http://www.myspace.com/orbitalcomics)" in central London and check it out if you are ever in London.
I only worked there for 5 months but the reason I was able to get the job was because I went to their original comic shop every week almost for 3 years, hahaha. When they opened up a seperate manga branch "Orbital Manga (http://www.myspace.com/orbitalmanga)", I was lucky enough to be asked to work (this was about a month after my christmas temp contract finished).
The good thing was the comic and manga shop are only 5 minutes away from each other so I would go through manga and toys delivery on a Thursday to see what was good and then pick up my comics at discount price. Orbital are gonna be creating a third shop "Orbital Designer Toys" which will stock the ever elusive Hong Kong Vinyl SD Toys, Quees, possibly Kubricks, that sort of thing.
I've kept up a good relationship with Bossu-man (as I call him now) so I'm forever an "orbital slave" as he calls it, hahaha, I have a new job working as a trainee independant mortgage broker but they asked me to help them out tommorrow because too many people were given a holiday, hehehe, which is cool.

Good luck with the job hunt, are you looking for part time or finished uni?

Hey knightjar, how are you treating those ML Monsters I helped you get last year? I'm running out of room so I moved all my ML into a tighter space. Yeah, it seems this thread needed a push but its still early days, the resurrection "spell" might wear off.

In terms on DCD, I stopped having the need to get at least one figure per series. The next series I might get will be the Ed Benes designed Justice League of America. It has a nice Black Canary, Vixen, Red Arrow and Black Lightning. Will have to see how the Superman looks before I fork out money. The Batman & Son line also looks good.

Oh yeah, they rereleased the Kingdom Come figures in blister packaging.

Justice figures are still coming out, just have the armoured versions which I have no interest in. You can check the figures here, atriot:
http://www.joeacevedo.com/docs/figurezone/dcdactionfigures2007.htm

There are more Gundam kits coming out for the new series Double 0, they look fairly cool but nothing beats my fanboy love for the Seed designs. Glad you can get affordable Revoltechs, I need to get some SoCs, man.

A friend of mine's soul purpose while in Japan was to pick up a Dancouga and a Gunbuster and he managed to get both for £60!!! I guess taking a girl who can speak japanese has its benefits..*busts out text book "watashi.....wa...ummm"* I'm hoping they do some Sentai robots, I would love to see the original Jyuranger/Mighty Morphin' Megazord.

knightjar: yeah Play.com does that. One time I was gonna order a Star Wars animated maquette and then the next day, it went back up full price even though the sale was still on. Do you go to Woolies often? Did you ever see the Marvel Legends Icons Captain America? I kept hearing that Woolies had ML Icons but I never managed to find it. Guess that'll be my next holy grail...

Slowed down completely these last few months. Ebay prices have hiked for some reason and it's real hard to get a deal on there these days. Postage increases is making it difficult to get overseas deals going on here too.
Everything I have is still in boxes until I can get time to make somewhere for it to go. I'm not as enthusiastic about my stuff as I was this time 12 months ago though. I'll take a long hard think about what I'm keeping and what goes when I get it all out eventually. I still pick up the odd Spawn fig as and when I come across them, and I am keen to complete my Puppet Masters but other than that there's not much I want. Looking forward to Mezco's AoTLD2 getting released and the odd CC grabs my attention but I am starting to wonder how much longer I'll collect for.

So how's Malaysia then fella? Hotter than here I'm guessing? ;)
