Of course I'm getting it. Not sure how having "Black Freighter" integrated into the film is going to work out.

it will be all about how they transition IMO. If they do it right it could work perfect because it is a totally different side story being told. if they do it wrong it could totally wreck the pace of the movie and be a wicked hot pile of mess. Me, I am MOSTLY getting it for the 2nd disc of extras because the previous “special edition” was pretty thin in that department aside from the excellent history of the graphic novel featurette.

Did they rewrite the movie and make it better?

Probably not, at least not right away. I already have the movie and "Black Freighter" on Blu-ray, and they work really well as separate entities. The Ultimate Cut is probably something I'd watch once or twice and then just let sit on the shelf. The Director's Cut Blu-ray is plenty awesome.

Plus, I really dislike the cover art. I get what they're going for, but it just doesn't work.

I'd get it if it had the other cuts of the movie as well.

So, it has the director's cut + the Black Freighter added in, correct?

As well as the Under the Hood feature from the Black Freighter DVD, and the complete motion comic?

So, it basically comes with everything that has been released so far?

It has all the bonus features from the other releases, but not the other versions of the movie. The only version in the Ultimate Cut is the one with the animated stuff edited into the Director's Cut.

Well the draw back is that you are getting a cut of the film nobody knows anything about yet. It might be great but if you want a cut of the movie without animation cut in you would have to buy one of the other versions out there already.

I love the director's cut as-is and am planning on getting the blu-ray. I haven't seen TOTBF yet, I'll wait to hear what everyone thinks of this version.

I bought the Directors Cut on BD for $13.99 and it came with a $10 off coupon in it so... I figure I'm 'up' since I was going to pass on the DC for this one.

FILM-wise no if you're talking about the Director's Cut. This version is the DC with the Black Freighter inter cut into the movie. But there's a whole lot of extras that are exclusive to this set.

True, but I don't own any of the DVDs yet, so it might be worth it just for all the extras. I'll have to wait and see. I haven't seen the DC, but I did enjoy the original version.

The directors cut is much better than the theatrical...the murder of Hollis alone makes the Night Owl II story arc make so much more sence and helps explain so many of his actions later in the story.

The extras on the 2nd disc is the main selling point for me on this one. I was really bummed by the lack of extras on the first release..

No...but I am talking about the DVD version. I have no idea what was on the Bluray but the 2nd disc of the DVD special edition had ver little except a digital copy of the movie and a featurette about the history of the graphic novel.
