Eh, no need to blow it out of proportion. Half a game is enough punishment.

So if this is no big deal, where do you draw the line? Football players get hurt, yes good point. But when your laying on your back with 5 guys on top of you, and someone comes in and starts jamming his fingers in your eyes.......And that's football to you? You have some perspective issues!!!!

If that wasn't intentional, what was he doing? Looking for his keys?

Pathetic, and trying to excuse it as no big deal is also pathetic.

I'm sure if that was mkupper's kid getting eye-gouged out there, he would've shrugged it off and said 'no biggie' as well.

Well the person that was the target says Spikes shouldn't have been suspended and doesn't understand why it's gotten so much attention. So much for the at home refs.... lol

Quote:
ATHENS, Ga. -- A most unlikely person came to the defense of Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes, who was suspended for half a game for apparently trying to gouge the eyes of Georgia running back Washaun Ealey.

Ealey said Tuesday he doesn't believe Spikes should have been suspended. In fact, Ealey seemed surprised the play from Saturday's game drew so much attention.

Ealey says he doesn't agree with those who have said the suspension was not stiff enough. "That really didn't matter to me," Ealey said of the suspension. "That's their decision. He shouldn't, I think, get suspended at all. We were just out there playing football."

Ealey said he had his eyes closed when Spikes stuck his hand in his helmet and he wasn't hurt. "He really didn't gouge my eyes," Ealey said. "He really didn't get a chance to get close to my eyes."

The freshman said he believes similar incidents happen all the time. "I'm pretty sure it goes on back and forth," he said. "We probably do it and other teams do too. It's all football. We're just out there trying to have fun."

Seems like the kind of player I would take joy into seeing them get carted off the field. What a ******* loser. And I think I'll take Golic's word on "eye gouging" over anyone of you who says it happens all the time.
