Default random question for todd or the other creative minds

i'll preface this by saying i am a long time fan since todd was drawing spiderman. have every issue of spawn and the other spawn titles. there was a about a three year break where i quit collecting comics but have since gone back and picked up the gap. anyways, so its my understanding that al offed himself, and now has been replaced by jim. in both the toy lines and the comics there have been a multitude of different spawn incarnations, yet in the last issue the new spawn looks just like the old spawn. what the hell man? i was really enjoying the reading up till he busted out and went full "spawn" and then he looks the same as AL? did i miss something? is there something else coming that we dont know yet? or are all those other spawns off limits in the spawn world? why does he have to look exactly like the al simmons spawn? thanks for anyone who may answer.

I think if he didn't look like him.. as jim clearly did not in the begining of his run; fans complain.. now when they give the fans what they want, other fans complain about the exact oppoiste..

Originally, all the Hellspawn looked the same. In fact, evoeryone in Hell looked like Spawn. Remember when Billy Kincaid went to Hell with Vindicator? There was an army of Spawn look-a-likes.

Exactly.
Hellspawns have the same design costume (Spawn #8 or Spawn The Movie).
As a hardcore fan you should know that angryoriental.
It was not a lazy choice, if you look at Whilce Portacio sketchbook, you will see that Whilce created a lots of unused designs for Jim.

The reason Jim now looks like al is because of the backlash from fans when Al was offed and Jim took over. It all really happened around the issue where Greg came back ( which was very nicely drawn but stupidly written, much like all of endgame). I personally like the look of Jim/Al now but too bad the story was so slow and pointless that I gave up on it. It's just too slow paced and scattered to be a good read. The last issue I read of spawn actually gave me a headache. lol

Koschei: Welcome to retcon. when done properly, it works. When done half assed, well, welcome to endgame.

Its no wonder why Todd discontinued the spawn series. We always demand more at a short period of time and always picky on what we like. If you guys don't like the way they make the comics then shut up and make one for yourselfs and design it how ever you want your comics to be so that way you don't have deal with the crap Todd is doing to work as hard as he can just to make us happy.
I support Todd no matter what, even though he's done a couple of flaws and not to mention the economy has hit the Mcfarlane company pretty hard causing some delays and what not.
Their I just solved the problem....or not- I don't care.

Blaming the economy for Spawn being sucktackular for the past 1 1/12 years is more like a scapegoat my man.
The reason I am so bitter is that I too was a hardcore devoted McFarlane/Spawn fan for many many years. But after some of the AoS lines, lack of product, teasing us with this and that only to never mention it again, hypocritical moves by Todd doing stuff he said he'd NEVER do etc well, I got mad to be honest. But, soon I got over that and now call em like I see em. Just because I don't kiss todd on the ass everytime he takes a dump doesn't mean I don't support TMP. And just because I ***** when something is inferior to what it could be is just me expressing my opinion as a customer! I think a lot of you and people at TMP forget that we are customers. Keep pissing off the customers and pretty soon, they are all over shopping somewhere else.
