for the big schools it is a no win situation.. because they will still be ranked high whether they beat boise state or central florida.. for the middling schools in the bcs conferences it is a situation that they can benefit from..

although I doubt it would happen, but as a Gator fan, I would love to see Florida take on Boise State in a battle of the orange and blue next season...its win/win for the fans...if we win, it shuts Boise State up, if we lose, it drives a stake through the BCS

So....this entire thread happened because someone can't read?

Or just hates BSU that much?

If BSU consistently has good seasons the next few years, they will by default become a big name football school (think Gonzaga in college basketball). I think they should be able to schedule some bigger out of conference games with better schools in the years to come. If not, tough luck, and GO GATORS!!

This is true for USC; their schedule is locked in through 2013.

despite all the bcs bowl babblings and whatnot...you MUST admit - watching Boise State play is exciting and fun. I LOVE watching them play whenever theyre on TV, simply because I know that, no matter who is on the other side of the ball, it will be an entertaining game.

that being said, BCS is BS. its such an elitist croc of shizz that teams that are ranked high (the Boise States, Cincys, etc of the world) will never get the opportunity to play the Bamas, Floridas and Texases of the world. it sounds like a classic case of haves vs have nots.

These big schools shouldnt look at it as a lose lose. if they KNOW they are better than a team like, say, boise state, they shouldnt balk at wanting to play them unless they are legitimately scared - which, if they are truly afraid of getting beat by an upstart team out of IDAHO, they arent deserving of their top 5 ranking.

Probably because you must not have read this part of the story.

"Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho."

That doesnt make my point any less valid. If they are willing to travel then they are doing all they can. If that is not correct, as Im suspecting as the amount of money they would have to spend to travel to say LSU or OU and the amount of money that could be made by BSU by hosting those schools would be substantial.

I also stated it makes no sense in the current format for a major team to play a team like BSU because its lose/lose. The major flaw is in the system not with the teams refusing to play. Also as for making a case for them to be in the BCS Championship, they have gone 4-1 over the past few years vs BCS teams, what does 4-1 get a BCS school?? 2nd place most years. How does that count as a positive for BSU? I wonder what their record would be if they played a BCS type conf. schedule, and not just a game or two a year?

Next reason they cant be talkin nonsense.....they struggled with an average La Tech team, just be happy with your place in the food chain, because if you try moving up you mave even lose that spot.
Didn't Florida struggle with Arkansas at home?

I see Boise St like Gonzaga in basketball, a very good team in a bad conference that could beat a Florida or Alabama in a one game shot but probably couldn't win the SEC or Big 10 and probably wouldn't be able to go through 3 top teams in a playoff. Of course it would be nice to see if they could but sadly that won't happen for a LONG time.

You are, absolutely, dead on here....nobody, I repeat, NOBODY wants to face Boise St in a one game shot...just ask Oregon or OU........

Speaking of Notre Dame...now that they have 3 losses are they STILL BCS eligible...or are they still going to need a 4th loss

Agreed 100%. I also feel that BSU has got the better of a few team (Bama & OU) after they were heartbroken by missing out on the BCS Championship game.

As for Florida struggling against Arkansas, thats Arkansas, with the top QB recruit Ryan Mallett. Who is the QB for La Tech? Where would Arkansas finish in the WAC? Id bet 1 or 2.
