Default Total Recall is being REMADE now??

Son of a *****

Quote:
Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard, "Underworld" films) is in final negotiations to direct Columbia Pictures' Total Recall, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad and Matt Tolmach, presidents of Columbia Pictures. The film will be a new, contemporized adaptation of Total Recall, which was based on the story, "We Can Remember It for You Wholesale" by Philip K. ****. Kurt Wimmer is writing the screenplay. Neal H. Moritz will produce through his Original Film banner.

Commenting on the announcement, Tolmach said, "Len has an incredible love of the genre and a great gift for action. He'll bring a contemporary feel to the film while taking care with everything we love about Philip K. ****'s original story."

Moritz said, "I have been trying for years to work with Len and fortunately we finally found a great project that he loves as much as we do. Len is terrifically talented and we know he is the right director to re-imagine Total Recall for a new generation of fans."

Wiseman added, "I've always been fascinated with Philip K. ****'s short story, and I'm excited at that prospect of diving even deeper into the type of world it evokes and the questions it asks. I love that the most crucial mystery our character is trying to solve is the one of his own soul."

Toby Jaffe will oversee production on behalf of Original Film. Tolmach and Sam ****erman are overseeing the project on behalf of the studio. Columbia Pictures secured the rights to "Total Recall" from Miramax.

If ever there was a director suited to a good Phillip K. D!ck adaptation...it's somebody other than Len Wiseman.

I'm kind of starting to agree with Sheep's philosophy on the whole remake thing. I mean, it's not as though the new movie erases your beloved original.

Indeed. In fact, it usually brings about a re-packged edition of the first movie.

Bless you.

And point in fact, Total Recall is my favorite Sci-fi movie, and I welcome another take on that universe with wide open arms. Anyone else who objects to it can do the world a favor and just not ****ing see it.

I'm pretty sure this was originally announced a year or so ago, and I can't wait to see some concepts for it.

This just further justifies my claim that no one has an original idea anymore. It's all remakes and adaptations now.

If the Total Recall book was wrote as a novelized version of the movie how is this not a remake?

1. Written
2. It was neither a book, nor a novelization of the movie.

Ooh Kurt Wimmer. He did Equilibrium! Oh but he also did Ultraviolet (which I enjoyed but not as much as Gunkata Goodtimes). Ah well hopefully it'll be more Equilibrium than Ultraviolet.

lol yeah... a shame people think Total recall is the name of the "book".

It's a short story, which most of Philip's stuff is it seems, and it was called "We remember it for you wholesale.".
