Clips are on Amazon, check 'em out before buying your "expensive drink coaster"
Wow, that's a ton of CD's. I have about half that and I pretty much reign around here. However, that's only not included CD-R demos, of which I have many.... many, many. I pretty much buy every CD-R demo of any black metal band that I find.

Also, are you IN Katatonia or something? You're pretty vehement about this anti-downloading thing, haha.

It's not about Katatonia in particular. Bands struggle enough being in a somewhat "fringe" market like metal. If you want them to continue, buy their stuff. Pretty simple to me. I might listen to clips to see if a new band is worth checking out, but the only album I have ever downloaded was the second disc of the latest Black Crowes set that was a free download with the purchase of the regular album. Besides, I prefer to have the artwork and booklet with the CD. Its not like I don't have burned CDs, as I do trade with some friends occasionally, but thats usually for stuff out of my "wheelhouse", lol.

I think you misconstrued what I was doing as downloading and never buying.

Everything I download is a tentative 'to buy' list.

But very rarely do I buy without listening first. I'm not going to buy a crappy album just to support some band I like.

To this day I regret buying St. Anger before downloading. Worst mistake of my entire life.

I'm with Brandon on this. I download all of the time, but it is to sample things before buying it.

I will never pay for downloads though. Like you, shopson1, I gotta have something physical for my money.

I just wish stuff didn't go out of print so readily, or there weren't so many reissues with more songs, or so many limited/deluxe/special editions. Or the country/store exclusives with more songs.

Bah.

St. Anger is probably a LOT of people's worst CD purchase...

To boot, I purchased it ahead of the national release for full retail.....(bangs head against wall).

Bah.
The "Japanese bonus tracks" issue is actually a requirement right in the band's contract most likely. Those don't bother me as much as a band releasing a deluxe edition 2 months after releasing the regular version. The reissues are fine with me as long as they improve the sound quality considerably. Just adding demo tracks and changing packaging is annoying.

yea.. it really does suck eh.. hopefully the rescheduled date will work for me. should be ok, but with a toddler running around and a very pregnant wife time will have to tell.

at least metallica blew my ****ing mind last night.. like really blew my mind. so much better than i expected. they were so into the show, the place was packed and was rocking. there was like 21000 people there, apparently most ever for a concert at scotiabank place. setlist was solid as well. creeping death and battery were amazing.

I've heard that the Japanese versions have extra songs to get the people in Japan to buy them, as it is actually cheaper for them to import from other countries. Still hate it though, as I buy which ever version has two or more extra songs, and a lot of Japanese stuff goes out of print rather quickly. I also hate other country/store exclusives. Like Best Buy, it often has an exclusive version of a CD with two bonus songs, and it is only released in American Best Buys, and only ships within America.

I hear ya on the re-releases a few months later. I bought Killswitch Engage's As Day Light Dies album when it came out, only to see it come out even better a few months later. I loved it when I read an interview saying they "did it for their fans". I didn't know trying to double dip was good for us?

haha,
I got a passport just for the show.
And I'm going to a hockey game the next night, so it worked out well.

I can't find anyone to take this ticket, probably going to end up selling it to a scalper.

I hope to be in that number.
I also hope to have hte game.

Finally tracked down the new Vreid and Skyfire CDs, very solid indeed! I've been listening to these two so much that I haven't given the new Katatonia much time yet.

saw Trivium, Chimaira, Whitechapel and Dirge Within last night at the TLA in Philly.

pretty awesome show in a nice venue. still don't know how i feel about Whitechapel, they were pretty heavy but the constant growling in their singing get's on my nerves. Chimaira was solid and the drummer finished off their set with a nice 3 minute long drum solo that shook the building and of course Trivium was incredible. Matt Heafy was constantly getting the crowd going and it's amazing that all he has to say is "this is Gunshot!" and everyone goes nuts.

Man, I haven't listened to Skyfire in FOREVER! I used to listen to them all the time.

Also, just my luck, the other day someone messaged me and said "So what did you think of the Vreid show last night?", I totally missed out on seeing them live and they were playing apparently just 5 minutes transit trip away from me.
