Talking The Villain in Image United is......... BIG SPOILER!!!!!!!!

AL/SPAWN

This is some cool news! Can't wait to see what they do with him and how he'll interact with Jim/Spawn.

Quote:
The big Image news of the event came from writer and newest Image partner Robert Kirkman, who took the stage to reveal that in the pages of the publisher's much-anticipated "Image United" crossover, the villain of the series will be a resurrected Al Simmons--the former hero of Todd McFarlane's "Spawn" who died earlier this year. On his own Twitter account, "Youngblood" creator and "Image United" co-artist Rob Liefeld noted, "Dark Spawn rises!"

I'll buy Spawn again if he kills Jim and comes back as the main lead.

Why not have both of them in the book!

Plus we still have to see how they explain his resurrection

I don't mind having him share the book, I'll give you that. But can we please get a better story?

Wasn't that the villain in the old Spawn/WildCATS crossover? An older Dark Spawn in the future.

While it's definitely cool to see Al coming back, does anyone really think that the character of Al Simmons as portrayed in Spawn is the type to attempt to destroy/take over the world?

Doesn't seem very in character to me. Hopefully there's a good explanation...

This actually got me excited. Before I was like "eh, I'll check it out but don't expect anything cool if Spawn wasn't in this, I wouldn't care" but now I'm thinking this is a cool turn of events.

i can't believe it stayed quite this long. LOL!! I figured someone would have pieced this together much sooner. Does this help put Al's death into perspective?? hmmmmm.

I've read "Spawn" to issue 170.

For me the "awesome" part is that Al is relevant again and maybe, just maybe there is either (a) more Al/SPawn to come or (b) true closure beyond the BS ending in 185. I think there is a lot that could be done with this from the standpoint of Image United as well as Spawn.

If Al is defeated in Image United does he stay as a villainous character and could he be Jim's true nemesis for a while? If he is turned in Image United could he retake the Spawn mantle? If he dies in Image United then at least we got to see just a little more Al before it all ended.

I do think this is an exciting development but I can understand that if not everyone shares that excitement.
